Chapter 121

Chapter 121

Candice said to Alex, “We’re here.”

However, Alex didn’t move. Because of all the wine he drank, his voice sounded raspy. “Are you in so

much rush to see Jackson?”

His tone was quite faint, as if there was not much emotion inside.

Candice paused. “Sieg told you?”

No one would monitor her like that other than Sieg.

“Looks like you care about Jackson a lot.” The light in the basement parking lot was quite dim, and it

was even darker in the car.

Candice’s night blindness became even more obvious now. While she could identify Alex’s general

direction, she couldn’t see his face clearly.

She heard Alex click his tongue and say, “Candice, the Shyan’s are from a scholarly family. They won’t

like tainted women.”

Candice was stunned for a moment until she realized what he was talking about.

She closed her eyes as she could feel pressure building up inside of her until she could physically feel

the pain. She found her voice back and asked, “Am I tainted?”

Alex’s tone was still calm as he said, “Who knows? I’m just giving you a reminder.”

After that, he got out of the car.

Candice looked at his figure slowly disappearing into the corner, and her hands holding the steering

wheel gradually tightened.

Everything Alex said had left a mark on her heart.

So he thought she was tainted?

Had he thought that from the very beginning?

So, he was just toying with her?

Candice calmed down after a while, and only then did her cold limbs become warm.

Alex knew too well how to make her upset.

All too well.

When Candice got back home, s‘

ull felt limp.

She didn’t care about her clothes. She kicked her high heels away and immediately walked into the

restroom.

The hot water showered down from the top of her head, and she simply let the water rinse her face, as

Her skin was already quite pale. As the hot water rinsed her face, it quickly became pink.

However, when Candice looked at the pink color in her arms, Alex’s word about her being tainted rang

in her

head again.

With a numbed expression, she grabbed the shower gel and poured it all over on her, and washed

them for a very long time in silence.

She didn’t stop even when her skin turned red.

Candice couldn’t differentiate what that hot liquid that was falling on her reddened skin was anymore.

Was it tears or was it the hot water from the shower?

She kept on brushing her skin until she slowly lost her strength.

In the end, she crouched down by the wall and held her legs, putting her head on her knees and letting

her hair flow freely.

She didn’t know how much strength she used, but by the time she woke up the next day, the marks on

her arms were still there.

She gave it a look before getting a long–sleeved shirt from her wardrobe and putting it on.

When she got to the company, Kayla greeted her gloomily.

Kayla worked through the night to get the report done and she was in terrible shape.

When she saw the shirt Candice was wearing, she curiously asked, “Won’t you feel hot wearing long

sleeves, Candice?”

Candice looked away and said, “I’m allergic to UV light.”

“What? I’ve never heard you say that,” Kayla asked curiously. Meanwhile, Candice didn’t reply to her

question and simply asked, “Have you readied the information for the meeting? We’ll need it later.”

Kayla’s attention was immediately diverted as she went to prepare the materials.

When the meeting was done around ten, Candice got out of the meeting room and saw Sonia waiting

outside. All content © N/.ôvel/Dr/ama.Org.

She thought Sonia wanted to use the meeting room, so she was going to leave.

She didn’t expect Sonia to call out to her in a low tone.

Candice stopped and asked, “What is it?”
