Chapter 4
After saying that, Trent took out his handkerchief and helped Celena up. As he gently wiped the blood stain off the corner of Celena’s face, she did her best to endure it as she had no guts to resist.
Trent ordered, “I’ll give you ten minutes to clean yourself up. I’ll wait for you outside. Don’t even think about pulling any tricks. Just think about it carefully. Who else in the entire Drunham City would dare to help you if you do.”
Upon saying that, he leaned in and whispered into Celena’s ears, “I really can’t wait to have the most beautiful woman in the city under me, begging me for mercy. Hahaha.”
Trent left the emergency room, feeling satisfied. He told his subordinates at the door, “Keep a good eye on the emergency room later. Nobody’s allowed to go in and save that b*stard!”
“We understand, Mr. Walker!”
Celena was kneeling next to the bed in the room. She gently wiped off the teardrops at the corner of Jovie’s eyes and comforted her, “You’re a good girl, Jovie. Don’t be scared. I’ll be right here with you.”
“Mom, why hasn’t Dad come back yet? It hurts so much. Don’t follow that bad person out the door, Mom. I’ll be scared in here,” said Jovie.
Celena quickly rubbed her tears off and did her best to put a smile on her face.
She pinched Jovie’s cheek and said, “Listen, Jovie, I’ll just be out for a while. I’ll leave my phone with you.
“Your father’s number is in there. If you miss your dad, just call him, alright? You’ve been missing him, haven’t you?
“I’m not leaving with the bad person. I’m just going to pay your medical bills.”
She then stuffed her phone into Jovie’s hand and went to the restroom to clean herself up.
Celena looked at herself in the mirror. She forced herself to suppress the fear and tears that filled her eyes.
After she came out, she comforted Jovie a little. Then, she secretly stuffed a paring knife into her purse and went out. Text content © NôvelDrama.Org.
Meanwhile, Trent’s patience was wearing thin as he waited outside at the entrance of the hospital in his Mercedes-Benz. But when he saw Celena coming out, a happy grin appeared on his face.
Celena saw Trent smiling, but his smile terrified her. She gripped her purse so hard that her knuckles turned pale. She took a breath and got into the car.
As soon as she got in, the car drove off.
Trent was beyond satisfied at that moment. He put an arm around Celena’s shoulders while holding a cigar in the other hand. The grin on his face was simply wicked.
At that moment, the medical personnel were blocked outside the emergency room by the people guarding the door. Someone tried to barge in, but Trent’s subordinate kicked him, making him fall.
One of Trent’s subordinates threatened them, saying, “Mr. Walker said nobody’s allowed to enter. Don’t blame us for not showing you mercy if you insist on going in!”
“The child inside isn’t going to make it if she doesn’t get her surgery immediately!”
“That’s right! She’s in a severe condition after being run over!”
The medical personnel who were stopped outside were so anxious that they were about to burst into tears.
Jovie was just a small child who was injured after she was run over by a car. It was already a miracle that she could hang on for so long. If she did not have surgery soon, she…
They saw her covered in injuries and bleeding without stopping. She was trembling all over because of the pain. While she was dazed, she kept mumbling, “It hurts! It hurts! Mom!”
One of the female nurses had a daughter who was about Jovie’s age. As she looked at Jovie’s condition, she could not help but sit at the side and bawl her eyes out.
When Jovie heard the noise outside, she got so frightened that she gripped the phone tightly and called her father. As long as she called her father, he would come and save her.
However, one of the men caught her in action. He snatched her phone away with a sullen face and smashed it on the floor.
“Who are you calling, you little b*tch? You should’ve said earlier that you wanted to die sooner.” He ripped off Jovie’s oxygen mask upon saying that.
The phone shattered and so did Jovie’s hopes. With the phone around, she could call her father. However, the phone was already broken. She could no longer see her father anymore.
