Chapter 39 How Can I Get You to Marry Me
Chapter 39 How Can I Get You to Marry Me
"The old man isn't awake, and you aren't awake either?" Lemuel looked at her as if she was a joke and
found her funny. "You thought I'll marry you?"
"No, so I came here to convince you." She gritted her teeth and stood straight.
"You think there's something about you that would make me want to marry you?" His icy words were
full of mockery as he leaned back in the leather chair.
Verena was a little speechless. "I—"
She was not beautiful, and her family was not wealthy. It was true that she did not have much to offer. This belongs © NôvelDra/ma.Org.
"Plus, you are the woman I disgust to the extreme, so much that I feel sick to my stomach."
Holding back her anger, she said frankly, "I don't have much to offer, and I know that I disgust you just
like how you find flies disgusting. But so what? I want to get married to you!"
Lemuel's leopard-like eyes became cold. He immediately called a phone number in the company and
said coldly, "Kick the lunatic out of my office. You are all fired if you let another filth into the building!"
When he stopped speaking, a few security guards walked in. Some of them carefully glanced at
Lemuel's expression and pressed Verena down, taking her out of the office forcefully.
While struggling and trying to wiggle out of their grip, she shouted, "Let go of me! Let go!"
The security guards seemed to be deaf and did not respond to her screams. They dragged her out of
the golden revolving door and threw her into the snow. They then left without looking back.
While brushing the snow off her body, Verena climbed up from the ground and muttered to herself, "He
isn't a man at all! How could he be so brutal as to throw a woman on the ground without a second
thought?"
Without giving up, she walked towards the revolving door again but was stopped by the security guard
before she even got close.
This time, no matter how many times she waved her work permit to the security guard, she was
stopped outside the revolving door and was not allowed to go inside.
"Hey, are you sure? I have a work permit!" She was a little angry and said to the security guard while
gritting her teeth.
"Miss, the President has already issued an order not to allow you to step into the building. It doesn't
matter if you have a work permit. Even if you have the Vice President's access card, you won't be able
to step inside. You should leave as soon as possible," said the security guard with resignation.
"Is it really impossible for me to go inside?"
"Yes, unless there is an order from the President, you won't be able to go into the building even if you
stand here for a day!" He was very clear.
Verena had no choice but to walk away. She looked at the white snowflakes that were still falling into
her mouth and exhaled heavily. Whatever, if they would not let her in, then she would not go inside.
She could still wait outside.
She did not believe that he would stay in the building for a whole day!
The beautiful snowflakes became larger. After a while, she was already covered in snow. She blew
warm air at her cold hands and shook off the snow before she continued to wait.
Time wore on. It was three hours later, but she has yet to see that person come out. Verena's body as
well as her hands and feet felt so cold that she became numb. Her face also turned blue.
Sniffling her nose, she stomped her numb feet and breathed out, creating a misty cloud. She then
picked up a thick and long tree branch from the side and bent down to scribble on the snow with it,
killing time and keeping herself warm.
There were many pedestrians on the streets. She was the only lonely one who scribbled on the snow
with a tree branch. Although there was a big bright smile on her face, she looked so lonely, helpless,
and sad.
It was getting colder. Her hands were too cold to hold the branches, but he still had not come out!
Verena threw away the tree branch and curled into a ball in the corner. She shivered from the cold but
continued to wait!
She did not know how long she had waited. All she knew was that she felt colder and colder.
Just when she thought she would freeze to death in the snow, the golden revolving door finally moved,
and Lemuel walked out while being surrounded by everyone.
Lemuel went down the stairs and asked the assistant behind him coldly, "What's my schedule in the
afternoon?"
"There is a video conference with the President of the Channing Group at three o'clock," replied the
assistant immediately.
"Okay." Lemuel did not speak anymore and only walked forward in strides. The noble feel he exuded
made all the women that passed by him blush, and their hearts skipped a beat.
"Lemuel! Stop right there! I have something to tell you!!!" Everyone heard a clear voice.
The assistants and senior employees who followed Lemuel were all taken aback.
Lemuel paused before turning around indifferently and gracefully. He saw that Verena was covered in
snow and walked over while limping like a lunatic.
She was about to catch up to him but felt a leg cramp from squatting for too long. She slipped and fell
miserably into the snow.
His eyes coldly glanced at her while she lay in the snow. The expression on his handsome face did not
change as he moved his long legs to leave.
Upon seeing this, Verena, who had not had time to get up, did not hesitate before she reached out to
hold Lemuel's legs. "Stop! I have something to tell you!"
Everyone watched the scene unfold in shock!
Lemuel's eyes suddenly narrowed, and he had a churning feeling in his chest. Slowly, he looked coldly
at Verena. "Let go!"
Verena looked up at him, gritted his teeth, and stared at him without fear—
But what no one noticed was that her body was shivering slightly, even her clenched teeth.
"I won't let go! I have something to tell you! I want to marry you! I must marry you!!"
She lay on the ground in an embarrassing predicament while her body was covered in snow and said
things that everyone found ridiculous!
Lemuel's slender fingers squeezed her chin firmly and brought her face close to his, close enough to
make her see the fury in his eyes clearly. "You should be thankful that I don't have the habit of beating
women. Also, do you know what you look like right now?"
Verena said nothing and continued to hold his legs tightly, fearing that he would suddenly leave.
"You are now a lunatic in the eyes of others. A lunatic with a mental disorder." His breath touched her
cheek with each word. "Poor and pathetic."
She gasped hard. Her heart seemed to be scratched by something and felt painful. She bit her lip and
looked up at him. With an emphasis on each word, she replied, "That's okay. You tell me, how can I get
you to marry me?"
