Marrying my high school bully

The truth in bits

Chapter 80

Lorraine

My eyes fluttered open, a sharp pain thawing in my head then I felt beads of liquid trickle down my skin; probably I was aroused from my sleep by it.

I made to stand up, then I realised that my movement had been restricted by a strong rope which was tied around my ankles.

I jutted my chin up and my eyes landed on a familiar face that caused more throbbing pains in my head.

Dante held a pail in his hands, flashing a cynical smirk that could make almost anyone jittery. I shook my head, pleading with my eyes that he should reconsider but he only looked away and retreated to the iron door.

“What’s going on here, Dante? I’m supposed to be at my wedding!” I hollered at him in exasperation, but my angry outburst had no effect on him as his fingers closed around the door knob.

I bit my lower lip to keep myself from wailing, my body trembling in anguish. I couldn’t believe what was going on. How could my life turn around for the worse in less than… I couldn’t even tell the time.

My eyes widened as I remembered the scenario, then I averted my gaze to my sides. Stella and Victoria weren’t here which meant that he might have done something bad to them.

“No!” I screamed at the top of my voice, not minding the repercussion. “Where are my friends?” I seethed, wrestling with the strong knots that kept my hands and feet bound.

My veil had been taken away and even without taking a glance at the mirror, I could tell that my make up had been ruined. All of that didn’t matter anyway because my life was in danger, and unfortunately, Dexter didn’t even know where I was.

Who knew what he was going through and how he’d been feeling right now.

I jerked backwards when the door flew ajar and two people who I couldn’t identify because of their masks came in, though I could tell that they were of different genders. I was scared earlier, but on seeing them, fear heightened.

“Who are you people and what have you done to my friends?” I wasn’t screaming, rather, I was dishing out orders like I wasn’t the victim.

A familiar male chuckle resonated in the air, causing shivers to run down my spine. I knew that voice and I could remember it any time.

It was the same voice that laughed at me while beating me up and telling me that I was a sore loser and no one loved me. It was the same dark eyes that blazed with nothing but hatred each time he looked at me.

“Leonardo?” My voice cracked as I called his name.

His eyes flickered with sly amusement as he took off his mask. “I knew that you’d figure it out quickly, smart ass.”

My throat ran dry as I glared at the mistake of a man my mother married out of loneliness. She should have stayed single and or waited till she met someone better, instead of rushing into another marriage since I was the one bearing the pain.

“It feels so nice to see you again, Leonardo. I didn’t know that I was so important that you’d have to kidnap me on my wedding day.” I snickered, my tone filled with sarcasm.

My ass was already hurting from sitting for too long on the tiled floor, but I couldn’t let my discomfort show.

My statement made him smile and I wondered why he bothered with such a gesture because it only made him look like the devil. “Oh, sweetheart, I had to look for you. Didn’t your husband tell you that I was going to get you if you didn’t give me what I wanted?” He growled, plopping down a chair while his minion stood behind him.

My heart skipped a beat, knowing that he had spoken to Dexter and I was in the dark about it. For how long would he continue to hide things from me.

But I couldn’t wear my disappointment on my face. “Dexter will never have anything to do with you so stop talking about him.” I spat, wishing that I wasn’t bound by these strong cords so that I’d finally vent all my anger on him.

He roared in laughter, throwing his hands and feet into the air like a maniac. “You’ve always been stupid, but I didn’t know that your dumbness increased with age.”

His insult stung me deep within, just like it used to do, but my anger overrode his nasty words. Then I made a decision that from henceforth, I wouldn’t give him control over my emotions.

“I think the same goes for you.” I retorted sharply.

One… Two… Three… The back of his sturdy palm connected with my right cheek, but I held back the painful scream that his ears would be itching for.

He loved it when I reacted vocally to his abuse. He once told me that it was the bane of his existence.

“How dare you speak to me in such a manner, bitch?” He flared up, glaring murderously at me.

Eight years ago, I’d have been terrified to my bones, but now I wanted nothing more than to taunt him, make him feel bad about himself even though I might not walk out of this alive.

“I wonder why you’re accusing me of being bitchy when I was raised by a narcissistic skank. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, huh?” My lips formed a snicker as his eyes sparkled with pure indignation.

He could kill me if he wanted, I didn’t care. This was too much fun to pass on.

“You!” He clenched his fists tightly till his knuckles turned white. This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.

I blinked my lashes at him, waiting for another punch or maybe a hard kick on my stomach. It will be too easy for him since he had me all tied up.

Then he crouched to the ground, our faces at the same level. I returned the same deathly glare he fixed on me, enjoying the look of surprise on his face. “You’re baiting me, Lorraine. That won’t be good for you if you want to survive here.”

I was tired of the chase. “Why am I here?” I sighed, rolling my eyes.

“You owe me something.” He grinned deeply and then I knew that it wasn’t a joke anymore. “Your mother didn’t tell you before I killed her.” He announced.
