Marrying my high school bully

Mrs Gonzales

Dexter

I’d just ended the call with Lilly who decided to be clingy today and got a surprise of my life.

Leonardo was the CEO of Hills Jewelry? I thought.

How could such an evil person attain such an enviable position? Did Melissa know about his past and decide to get shares so that she could take over? I wondered.

But what could be her motivation?

He looked uncomfortable, his eyes coated with worry, and when I asked around, I realized that he had allowed the cunning side of him to come to play.

While the judges did their thing, I pushed through the crowd and approached him. He flinched when I patted his back and streaks of uncertainty shone through the veil of fear when our eyes met.

“Dexter, what are you doing here?” He looked agitated and tried to sound calm, but I didn’t care.

He should be feeling more than that.

“I should be asking you the same question. How on earth did you get the chance to become a CEO?”

He shrugged and smirked at me, reminding me of how evil he could be. “All I’d say is that the lines fell for me in pleasant places, and the board members deemed me fit to become the chairman. Are you satisfied with my explanation?” He asked nonchalantly.

“If some of the board members reasoned like me, they won’t be stupid enough to vote in someone like you.”

He gasped, realizing what I meant. The confident smirk vanished from his face immediately. “Are you also a shareholder here?” He croaked.

“A passive one, because I thought that the company was in good hands but I won’t be repeating that mistake,” I admitted and he tried to cover his panic with an eye roll.

“Don’t try to act all bossy on me, Dexter. Your shares in the company aren’t even enough to scare me.”

I laughed at his high level of ignorance. How could he not know that his position was slowly slipping off his hands? But then, he wouldn’t know because he had no idea about running a business.

“You’ll be surprised when you get kicked out of the company. You’d better be watchful.” I warned and I was about to leave when Emilia advanced towards us.

The moment our eyes met, she looked away and faced Leonardo. “Dad, I think we should leave now because they are gathering evidence against you.” She told him, ignoring me.

I’d have left if I didn’t recall that she called him ‘Dad’.

Wait a minute. Leonardo was the father of Emilia? What kind of sick joke was that? How come Emilia never told me about him? Why did she hide their relationship if nothing was wrong?

The fact that a lot of secrets were hidden under my watch without me noticing startled me.

“Is Emilia your daughter?” I questioned, hoping that he would deny it.

“Yes, she is. Why do you care?”

‘Calm your horses,’ I muttered under my breath.

“Does this mean that Lorraine and Emilia are sisters?”

He shrugged, but Emilia was quick to respond. “That bitch will never be my sister. Thank God she’s out of the way.” She stated with hatred and I left, unable to stand the both of them.

Now, I’d ascertained that both of them had something to do with Lorraine’s disappearance. Even Melissa’s father mentioned that she had been kidnapped.

What if they plotted to kidnap her then killed my sister and framed Lorraine so that we could be separated at our wedding? This is property © of NôvelDrama.Org.

I raked through my hair in frustration and tried to calm myself, but I couldn’t, not with the devils standing behind me. And knowing that I’d been more than the fool I called myself infuriated me further.

I was in dire need of Wyatt’s help.

AUTHOR’S POV

“After all the evidence gathered, we have ascertained that Hills Jewelry imitated a design and claimed that it was theirs. We’d be vindictive with the punishment because Troy Golds is not a brand to be toyed with.” The judge said and murmurs broke out.

“I didn’t do it on purpose, don’t you guys get it?” Leonardo barked. “We were running out of time.” He said in his defense but no one was ready to listen to him.

“We don’t appreciate your tone, Mr Jones.” He warned him sternly.

Leonardo hissed, palming his mouth in shock as he wondered who might have tried to set him up.

“I’m sorry,” He said flatly.

“We are sorry to announce that you have been disqualified from this exhibition and whatever Troy Golds decides to do with you isn’t any of our concerns. We’ll advise you to pack up your samples and leave so that the program can resume in earnest.” The judge said to Leonardo and stepped down from the platform.

The security men strode over to his Hills’ section, causing their staff to pack up fast as they didn’t want to be embarrassed further, while Leonardo asked Mrs Gonzales to follow him outside.

“What is the meaning of that stunt you pulled out there? Do you know the degree of embarrassment you just brought to our company?” He thundered, ignoring the attention he attracted to himself.

At that point, he didn’t care about the bad publicity that came his way, all that mattered was putting Mrs Gonzales in her place.

If only he knew that it wasn’t a mere stunt as he said.

“But boss, I asked you not to join the exhibition since weren’t notified on time, but you were so eager to be a part of it. Why does all the blame go to me when I only carrying out your orders?” She asked softly, getting close to tears.

He growled and clenched his fist, pacing around in a fully livid state. “You’ll pay for this, Rosa. Soon you’ll be out of the company for good. I promise you.” He threatened and snarled at the cameras flashing at him.

Mrs Gonzales, who was visibly terrified. She bowed her head as she headed out of the venue to meet Mr Manor who was already waiting for her.

“That bastard has to leave this company immediately.” Mrs Gonzales uttered after settling in.

“Soon he will, because he doesn’t know what has hit him.” He said and passed a cursory glance at Mrs Gonzales who fixed her attention on the road.

“Why do you keep looking at me?”

“I just realized that you are the bravest woman I’ve ever come across, and I’d like you to do me the honors of getting you lunch.” He said, barely keeping his gaze on her as she frowned.

She shrugged, her stiff shoulders slowly relaxing. “I’m starving and angry so lunch won’t be a bad idea.” She chuckled.
