Saving Samuel
The two of them sat quietly not saying anything to each other for hours and then Alexander who couldn’t take it anymore, spoke.
“Look, I need this contract and I know that you need it as well… so let’s just respect each other and make this work. After all, it’s just for three months and we are done. Nothing is gonna change between us, alright.” he said.
“So I need you to be as cooperative so that we can get through this without raising suspicion.”
“And you need to as well.” she said. “You don’t boss me around and tell me what to do or what not to do. I’m not your pet or your employee. You have to treat me with respect that I deserve.”
“Fine.” he accepted.
There was silence again in the room, but this time, Marissa broke the silence.
“Um… since we have signed the contract, can I get some money from you. I have a pressing matter and I really need the money.” she said.
“Hmmm… typical.” he said.
Marissa’s furrowed wondering what he meant by typical.
“What do you mean by that?” she asked him.
“Ugly thing like you need the money to get yourself new bags, shoes and fancy outfit huh? Women… that’s all you think about.” he said.
Marissa eyes turned red with anger.
“Look, you piece of shit. I don’t appreciate your annoying comments about me. You don’t know me, you don’t know what I have been through. So you don’t open your mouth and judge me.” she said.
“I risked my life to do this not because I wanted this, but because I needed the money for something important. So don’t go around and opening your mouth when you don’t know shit.” she said.
Alexander was taken aback by Marissa’s outburst. He hadn’t expected her to react so strongly. After a moment of silence, he sighed and reached for his bank check on the table.
“Fine, how much do you need?” he asked, his tone begrudgingly willing to help.
Marissa named the amount, and Alexander wrote out the money, added some and sign it and handed it to her. There was still tension in the room, but at least they had settled this matter.
“Now that you have your money, is there anything else you need?” Alexander asked, his tone slightly less harsh.
Marissa shook her head, “No, that’s all. I just needed the money.”
Alexander nodded,
“Alright, then. Let’s stick to the terms of our contract and make this fake marriage work.”
Marissa agreed, and they both knew that they had a long and challenging three months ahead of them.
“So um… where are we going to be staying now?” she asked.Content held by NôvelDrama.Org.
Alexander placed his hand on his hair, trying to think.
“Uhm…. I have another apartment asides this one, I think we could stay there. I will tell the maids to prepare it for us.” he said.
“Then what about our private wedding?” she asked.
“Anderson will work on that.” he said.
“But he’s your lawyer.” she said.
“This agreement is between the three of us. So who should handle it if it isn’t him?” he asked, looking at her coldly.
“Fine, I get your point.” she accepted.
Marissa agreed to the plans, even though dealing with Alexander’s attitude was not easy for her.
They decided to stay in another apartment that Alexander owned. He told her his lawyer, Anderson, would handle the arrangements for their private wedding.
Marissa had her reservations since Anderson was Alexander’s lawyer, but she didn’t argue. She understood that it was part of the deal.
“So when are we moving into the new apartment?” she asked.
Alexander thought for a moment before replying, “We can move in tomorrow. I’ll have the maids prepare everything.”
Marissa nodded, realizing that this was all happening so quickly.
As they walked out of the apartment building, she couldn’t shake off the feeling that her life was about to take a very unexpected turn.
After she came down from Alexander’s car and he left, Marissa didn’t waste any time. She rushed to the nearest street corner, hailed a passing cab, and hurried to the hospital.
Time was of the essence, and she couldn’t afford to waste a single minute. She needed to see the doctor and make arrangements for her brother’s surgery as soon as possible.
The weight of the situation hung heavily on her shoulders as she watched the city pass by through the cab window, knowing that her brother’s life depended on the decisions she was about to make.
Marissa arrived at the hospital and rushed inside. She approached the reception desk, panting from the urgency of her mission.
“I need to see Dr. Ramirez, urgently,” she told the nurse at the desk.
The nurse looked up from her computer and asked, “Do you have an appointment?”
Marissa shook her head. “No, but it’s an emergency. My brother needs surgery, and I have to pay for it. I was give 48 hours and it’s almost 48 hours.”
The nurse took in Marissa’s anxious expression and said, “Let me check if the doctor is available.”
Marissa paced back and forth in the waiting area, her heart pounding with worry.
After what felt like an eternity, the nurse returned and said,
“Dr. Ramirez will see you now.”
Marissa followed the nurse to the doctor’s office, her mind racing with thoughts of her brother’s well-being.
She knew that time was running out, and she had to do whatever it took to save him.
Marissa entered Dr. Ramirez’s office, and the doctor looked up from his desk.
“What seems to be the problem?” he asked.
“I’m here to pay for the surgery for my brother. You told me that I had 48 hours or he would die. So I’m here to pay for his surgery.” she said and gave him the check with her.
Dr. Ramirez nodded, understanding the urgency. “I see. Let me check the available slots for the surgery.”
Marissa anxiously waited as Dr. Ramirez made a call and checked his schedule. Finally, he looked up at her.
