Take Care of your self
Kaivan continued to gaze at Anne’s face as she busied herself preparing breakfast in the kitchen. After stopping meal preparation for a while due to sulking, this morning the beautiful woman was back in the kitchen, engrossed in her work.
Leaning against one corner of the wall, minute by minute, Kaivan spent just observing what his wife was doing. For some reason, Kaivan suddenly felt that Anne looked even more beautiful than usual.
In Kaivan’s eyes, Anne’s face appeared captivating even without a hint of makeup. Her long hair was left to flow freely, adding a sexy impression to anyone who saw her. If I pay close attention, why does Anne seem more beautiful as time goes on? Or could it be that I’m just realizing it now? Kaivan reflexively grimaced and shook his head, uncertain about his thoughts. All this time, he had always convinced himself that Anne was nothing more than a disruptor who wasn’t his type. But why did he find himself thinking about her so often now?
If Anne were to hear me calling her beautiful, she might become conceited. Putting an end to his aimless thoughts, Kaivan approached the dining table. He pulled out a chair and casually seated himself there. Meanwhile, Anne, who had just noticed her husband’s presence, hurried to finish her cooking activities. With agility, she immediately served the main dish along with a glass of orange juice for Kaivan to taste.
“Spaghetti,” Kaivan said after seeing a perfectly presented plate of spaghetti in front of him. “Yes, Bolognese spaghetti for breakfast. According to Mama Laura, you really enjoy Italian cuisine.”
Kaivan reached for the fork beside his plate and slowly took bites of Anne’s homemade spaghetti. He chewed slowly to savor the deliciousness of the dish. He then smiled and continued to gaze at his wife. “You’re absolutely right. I do love all types of Italian food. And your cooking this time matches my taste perfectly. I also just found out that you’re skilled at cooking.”
While Kaivan enjoyed his meal, Anne opted to take bites of her American sandwich while looking at him. There was a sense of joy because this time the man in front of her appreciated what she had prepared. It was quite different from some time ago when Kaivan often berated her. The clear aura of hostility he used to show was nowhere to be seen now.
“I do enjoy cooking activities. In the past, when my late mother was around, I used to try various types of dishes to serve her. But after Mama passed away, there was no one else to taste my cooking.”
Anne’s expression turned melancholic. Suddenly, memories of her long-departed mother flooded in. Kaivan, noticing the change in Anne, placed his fork on his plate. Without hesitation, he reached for her wrist and held it tight.
“No need to be sad. From now on, I’ll gladly taste every dish you prepare.”
Anne looked up, unconsciously smiling at Kaivan’s warm gesture. She wondered why he had suddenly changed. Or perhaps, this was Kaivan’s true nature.
Since their first meeting, Kaivan had always been curt. He openly rejected her presence and didn’t shy away from insulting her or showing his dislike. It was a 180-degree shift from what he was showing now.
“Then I’ll prepare lunch and dinner for you to enjoy.”
Kaivan nodded. “Sounds good, as long as you don’t feel tired or burdened. Because honestly, trying various types of food is one of my hobbies.”
Hearing Kaivan’s response, laughter immediately erupted from Anne’s lips. She pondered whether it was a coincidence that she, who loved cooking, had met Kaivan, who loved eating.
“Alright, I’ll prepare delicious meals for you to taste later.”
Kaivan finished his meal, took a tissue, and wiped his lips gently to remove the oil from the spaghetti he had eaten. After downing his orange juice, he then stood up, ready to head to work.
“I need to work now. As usual, if you need anything, just call Meggy. And remember, don’t go anywhere without letting me know, even if it’s just wandering around the hotel.”
Anne nodded in understanding at Kaivan’s instructions. She complied, solely to protect herself from potential dangers.
“See you later,” Kaivan said, then gave Anne’s hair a brief kiss on the top of her head. He then left casually, as if he had no burdens.
Goodness.
I might go crazy if this continues.
Anne held her chest. She could feel her heart racing. Her blood surged strangely in response to what her husband had done.
Don’t play with your feelings, Anne. You might end up disappointed. Keep your sanity intact. This won’t last long.NôvelD(ram)a.ôrg owns this content.
After being left alone by Kaivan, Anne immediately got up. She cleaned up the leftover plates and continued with her activities.
When she felt relaxed, she reached for her phone. She searched for a contact and quickly called someone.
“Hello… Anne,” greeted the man on the other end. “By God, I’ve been worried about you. Are you okay? You’re not hurt, are you?”
Anne reflexively nodded.
“I’m fine. That man is taking care of me.”
“Thank goodness.” A tone of relief was evident. “From now on, you need to be more careful. It seems the mafia won’t stop targeting you.”
“Yes, I know. And because of the incident yesterday, I had to show all my skills to Kaivan. He now knows that I’m skilled in self-defense and shooting.”
The man on the other end fell silent for a moment before responding.
“It doesn’t matter if he knows your skills. Besides, everything will be over soon, as planned.”
“Does that mean you’ve found the whereabouts of those who’ve been missing?” Anne asked to confirm.
“I’ve got a lead. As soon as there’s an opening, I’ll go after them before the opposition finds them first, like the case with Raul Altemose yesterday. Truly, that can’t happen again. I won’t let any casualties occur in this mission.”
Hearing that, Anne suddenly felt afraid. Being surrounded by enemies was certainly not an easy situation.
“Act quickly. Don’t let them catch wind of your presence. The mafia won’t hesitate to kill mercilessly. After successfully securing them, come get me here immediately. I don’t want to be separated from you both for too long.”
“Of course. I’ll come for you soon. I even miss hugging you. We’ll both present the evidence we’ve gathered to the M16. So, just wait for my signal. Just be ready at all times.”
“Please be careful. Your life is far more important than all of this.” Anne warned. There was a tone of worry embedded in her words.
“Don’t worry. I’ll be careful. Let’s end this conversation for now. Take care of yourself.”
