Chapter 10
Scarlett’s eyes were cold as she stared at Derick. “We’re divorced, Derick. What right do you have to know what relationship I have with him? Get your dirty hands off me.”
Derick’s smile was sinister, but he spoke in a low, nonchalant tone. “Scarlett, how desperate are you for men? You were already with someone else before our divorce. Can you honestly say you haven’t betrayed me?”
“No, Derick! I’m not as despicable as you. You were repugnant from the start, betting with friends to marry me. I guess this past year has truly been hard for you, huh?
A flash of pain crossed Scarlett’s eyes. She quickly grabbed Derick’s wrists and applied pressure to his pressure points. Her gaze hardened as she pushed harder.
Derick felt a sharp pain shooting through his wrists, deep into his heart. At once, he released her.
The pain in his heart spread. He looked into Scarlett’s eyes with a probing gaze.
Yet, she didn’t give him a chance to speak. She got into her car and drove away.
Derick stood there with a stem expression, watching Scarlett’s car disappear. His eyes held an inscrutable light.
Puzzled, he looked at his hands. The pain from earer had slowly faded. How did she manage that? Why had she become so unfamiliar? 1
As Scarlett drove, Derick’s words replayed in her mind. He said she betrayed him?
She sneered, thinking about how shameless Derick was. He was the one who had been unfaithful, yet he accused her of betrayal.
Scarlett took a deep breath and suppressed the pain. Even after lying in bed for a month, she still couldn’t figure out what had gone wrong
Just then, her phone rang After placing it on the holder, she answered with a swipe.
A land voice came through. “Letty.”
“Grandpa.” Scarlett’s voice was detached.
“Since you’ve secured the volet diamond, I’ve asked a famous craftsman to make a set of jewelry for you. Your 23rd birthday is coming up in a month.” Scarlett’s eyes glimmered as she wore a casual smile “Grandpa, I remember that our family had turned over a new leaf 20 years ago. Are you sure this violet diamond isn’t something shady? I’m worried someone might come after me if I wear it out.‘ Text © by N0ve/lDrama.Org.
“I really can’t hide anything from you. I used to strive to make a name for myself in the underworld, but now all I want is to forget it. Yet you keep reminding me.
“This violet diamond has a significant background. Before you bought it, you should have realized that you were officially rehiming to House of Faust,” Albert said eamestly. And your four–year agreement with me has expired. I haven’t asked where you’ve been these past four years, but from now on, you need to focus. I’ll retire and live a quiet life from now on, so don’t give me any trouble.”
Scarlett was silent for a moment, then cautiously asked, “Grandpa, do you want a great–grandchild?”
Albert responded, “Hmm.. Why do you sound like you’ve been dumped? They say when a woman gets dumped, it’s because of her looks, but you’re beautiful, rich, and talented. How did you get dumped? And you’re giving me a great–grandchild?
Scarlett was at a loss for words. She suddenly regretted asking him that question.
“It’s fine, Letty. It’s just a man. Isn’t inheriting the family business better? You’re still City will fall for you,” Albert said.
Scarlett was rendered speechless. Albert was becoming increasingly modern.
