Chapter 41
Chapter 41
Acella was inside her room. She had her headphones on so she didn’t notice when someone was Knocking on the door.
It was only when the door was pushed open that she realized someone else was in her room with her.
“What are you doing here?” Acella asked sharply. © 2024 Nôv/el/Dram/a.Org.
She removed the headphones from her car so she could hear properly.
“What do you think I’m doing? You are my sister so of course I’m here to check up on you!” Axiel said.
After the last talk he had with Acella, he realized that he needs to do better. Satisfying all her material needs and having people watch her all the time so that she won’t hurt herself isn’t going to work. He needs to personally get involved in her life.
“I don’t need you to check up on me, I’m doing fine!” Acella said.
Deep down, she really didn’t know how she was supposed to interact with her older brother. Their relationship was already like this even before their parents died.
They usually ignored each other and didn’t mind each other’s businesses. After their parents died and Axiel was forced to get involved in her life, Acella felt like she was thrown into a rollercoaster of emotions.
This is a brother who has never cared about her before and who always acted as if she’s invincible. She really didn’t know how to open up herself to him.
Axiel sighed. He constantly reminded himself to be patient with Acella no matter how rude she is.
“Acella, you are not fine and you know that. You know very well that you aren’t fine. You can’t keep ignoring me and the rest of the world forever. At some point, you’ll need to come out of this room and live your life” Axiel said.
He felt drained. Why does she need to act like this towards him? Can’t she see that he’s putting in efforts?
Why can’t she put in efforts too!
“I don’t need you to tell me this! I said I’m fine!” Acella said.
Deep down, she knows that Axiel is right. She is not fine. Her parents death has affected her in more ways that she’s willing to admit. At some point, she will need to get help. She will need to go out to live her life. But she just didn’t want to be pegged as a crazy person.
She didn’t want everyone else to see her as a wolf who had lost her mind. That is why she decided to hide. She will hide for as long as it’s necessary.
She will avoid the problem for as long as she can.
Axiel sighed. He decided to change the topic and change the method of approach. He already figured out at this point that Acella hates being told to get help because she doesn’t want to be called crazy.
That’s her own protective mechanism. That is the way she hides from the world.
“It’s fine then. You don’t need to leave if you don’t want to. You are my sister and you can do whatever you want. You said that day that I don’t know what you want and that I’ve never really tried to get to know you personally. I think that you are right. I’ve been caught up in my own problems. I
have to do a good job as the alpha and so I didn’t have the time …I didn’t make the time to get to know you better.”
“Also, we were never really close before the incident happened to mom and dad and they passed away, ou JE WAY AUT territory for me. I thought that I was doing all that I needed to do but your words showed me that it’s not that simple. So why don’t we do this again? Get to know each other? You are my sister and as long as you live, I’ll always need to take care of you. I don’t want our relationship to always be this tense with each other” Axiel said.
Maybe once he gets Acella to open up to him and their relationship becomes closer, he can convince her to get the help that
she needs then.
But for now, he will put all of that aside and work on getting closer to her first. That is the most important thing.
Acella would be lying if she said that she’s wasn’t touched by what her brother said. The fault isn’t just his.
She too hasn’t tried to get to know him or to know his struggles after their parents died.
She had heard some rumours from the maids and guards and she knew that most of the elders didn’t support him when he first became the Alpha.
They wanted him to give up the position. She couldn’t do anything to help then. She was just busy sulking-
Even though she knew all of this in theory, Acella didn’t know how she was supposed to explain all of this to Axiel.
And the feelings that she had inside..she felt like he really wouldn’t understand her so there’s no use. She should just keep doing what she is good at.
Keeping it all to herself.
“Do you really know what I want the most?” Acella asked with twinkling eyes.
“Yes. Just tell me what you want. I’ll do anything…I’ll do everything to satisfy you” Axiel said.
He was trying really hard to please Acella now. Even if she asked for the sky, he will find a way to pluck it and get it for her. He didn’t want her to suffer any grievances at all.
“I just want to be left alone. I want to be alone. Can you please do that for me? Can you please just leave me alone?” Acella asked.
Axiel was shocked….and disappointed when he heard this.
This wasn’t the answer that he was expecting from her at all. He thought that she will at least open up to him a bit today but no, all she wants was to be left alone.
Axiel wanted to argue but he stopped himself. He needs to stop treating Acella as an eight year old. He needs to respect her wishes no matter how they make her feel.
“Alright. I’ll leave you alone if that is what you really want. I won’t bother you. Just….stay safe okay? Axiel asked.
He left the room disappointedly.
Acella felt bad. Suddenly, she didn’t feel like staying cooped up in her room anymore.
It may seem weird but she had never left the palace grounds since her parents death.
She was always trapped inside. Or rather, she is the one who trapped herself inside.
She took a deep breath and jumped up from the bed.
Then she went to take a shower and got dressed.
An hour later, Acella stood in front of the mirror as she checked herself out. She realized that she liked what she saw.
