Married At First Sight Chapter 3987 Chapter 3987
Lilian chuckled as she thought about her master. "Old people are all the same," she said with a laugh. "My master's no different. If he doesn't see Fabian for just three days, he starts claiming the boy's lost weight and accuses me of not taking care of him properly. He even suspects I'm starving Fabian! Can you believe that? I carried that boy for ten months before he was born. Sure, he's loud and a handful, but I love him with all my heart- just like my master. How could I ever mistreat my own son?"
She sighed, shaking her head. "The older generation really likes to exaggerate. When I was a kid, my master was so strict. If I didn't finish my chores, he wouldn't even let me eat. It's funny to think about now, but back then, he didn't seem to feel the least bit sorry for me when I was hungry or losing weight."noveldrama
Serenity laughed, her eyes sparkling. “That's just how it is between generations. It skips a beat, doesn't it? Jane was telling me the other day that when she used to visit her parents, she was the center of their universe the one everyone doted on. But ever since she had kids, things are different. Now, if she goes home without bringing the kids, her mom will flat-out ask her, 'Why'd you even bother coming without the children?"" She continued with a knowing smile. "When she does bring the kids, her parents light up, but they only have eyes for the little ones. Maybe Ben gets a bit of their attention, but as for Jane? The former star of the show? She's basically free to do whatever she wants at that point!"
As Serenity spoke, a thoughtful look crossed her face. Her mind drifted to memories of her parents. If they were still alive, and old enough to be grandparents, would they be like Jane's parents? Would they fuss over their grandchildren? Would they get upset if their kids visited without bringing the little ones?
Lost in thought, Serenity didn't notice Zachary watching her closely. "Sweety, what's on your mind?" he asked, his voice soft with concern.
Lilian smiled, secretly envious of their relationship. Zachary was so attentive, always tuned in to Serenity's moods. Then again, she reminded herself, her own husband was just as loving. Their circle of friends had truly set the standard for enviable marriages.
Serenity sighed, her voice tinged with nostalgia. "Seeing how much Grandma May adores Sonny, and hearing Doctor Carden talk about grandparents' relationships with their grandkids, it got me thinking about my parents. If they were still here, would they be like Grandma May? Would they love their grandkids just as much as they loved us?"
Zachary took her hand in his, his grip warm and reassuring. "If your parents were still alive, I think they'd be close to the grandkids, but they'd always love you and your sister the most," he said gently.
After a brief pause, he added, "Are you free for the Lantern Festival? I could take you back to your hometown. During Qingming Festival, I'll bring Sonny and Duncan to visit your parents' graves. I'm not sure I'll have time to come back afterward, and with your belly getting so big, it wouldn't be good for you to travel. Let's skip Qingming this year. Next year, though next year, the three of us will go together. I think your parents would be thrilled to see us with a baby."
Serenity's eyes softened, and she nodded. "I haven't been back to my hometown in a long time. If you're free, let's go together. While we're there, I can check on the vegetable market. I'll let my sister know in advance-maybe she can join us for Qingming. If she can't, then you and Duncan can take Sonny to visit my parents.” Zachary nodded, his gaze steady and full of understanding.
The couple sat in silence for a moment, their hands clasped tightly as they shared an unspoken connection. They glanced at Grandma May, who was doting on Sonny as usual.
Later, after Sonny ate some porridge and took his medicine, he played for a while before Serenity checked his temperature again. Finally, it was back to normal.
Relief swept through the room.
Not wanting to intrude on Zachary and Serenity's time together, the rest of the family began to disperse. Duncan, however, decided to stay with the Yorks for a while longer.
Lilian left with Audrey and the others. After dinner at the Stone family home, she gave Mr. Jimenez his routine check-up, prescribed some medication, and then left Wiltspoon early the next morning.
