Chapter 665: Angela's Emotional Disorder
Tina explained, "Simply put, she can't empathize with others, nor can she feel happiness, anger, sorrow, or joy. It's like when she killed the bird because it was noisy, not realizing it was Rachel's beloved pet. When she watches horror movies, she just sees them as scenes of murder, nothing scary. She can't experience familial love, romantic love, or friendship, like a block of ice, just pure ice. Even if it melts, it's just a puddle of water."
Brandon shook his head, "But Tina, Angela holds your grandfather and your mother in high esteem. If she couldn't feel emotions, she wouldn't be here today."
People who can't feel happiness, anger, sorrow, or joy wouldn't feel compassion or worry for others.
Yet, Angela clearly isn't like that.
Moreover, she had said in the hospital room that she regards everyone as a brother.
If so, it can't be that she doesn't feel familial love.
"It's not absolute. Emotional disorders can be adjusted. Didn't you also mention that your mom had a talk with Angela? I think that was part of the adjustment, which is why she's so dependent on your mom." Brandon suddenly realized, "You're right, Angela really relies on Alina."
Tina pursed her lips and continued, "It seems Angela wasn't born this way; it must be due to medication control."
"Why do you say that?" Brandon's eyes suddenly hardened.
"A congenital emotional disorder wouldn't change so easily. My mom has been gone for over thirty years. If it were congenital, Angela would have felt indifferent years ago, ready to let go, since it wouldn't concern her, instead of searching all these years and running away from home out of shame after finding out she is the daughter of the Five Poisons."
"I think, in Angela's heart, the interests of the Brookes family always come first, followed by my mom, grandfather, and then those around her."
Brandon raised his hand, "I rank first among those people!"
"Sure, sure!" Tina nonchalantly pushed down Brandon's hand.
Men are indeed strange, even vying for rank over such things!
Tina continued, "If it were a congenital emotional disorder, it wouldn't be like this. No one would easily enter her heart. Over these years, with my mom absent, it was grandfather and you guys gradually influencing Angela's heart. My mom was the enlightenment, and you guys are the continuation that made Angela who she is today."
"If it's controlled by medication, after a while, once Angela and I get more familiar, I'll conduct a checkup on her. It'll be good to treat her accurately and help Angela recover."
Tina finished the last bite of her strawberry cake, "But uncle, if this doesn't affect Angela's health, there's no need to worry. After all, it's just an inability to empathize with others' emotions, which doesn't really matter, right?" Brandon let out a long sigh of relief, seemingly not listening to Tina but lost in his own world.
"I understand now."
Tina raised an eyebrow, "What do you understand?"
"Angela definitely likes me, she just doesn't realize it yet. Once she does, she'll know that I'm the love of her life, the irreplaceable one. When her love for me gushes out like a torrent, I will respond with a river of love. Then we'll have seven or eight kids, leave them to the eldest to handle, and I'll take Angela to roam the ends of the earth. Tina, what do you think... where did you go?"
Brandon turned around only to find that not only had Tina and Jared disappeared, but the strawberry cake box was also gone! Brandon clicked his tongue, "Hey, jealousy, these two are just jealous!"
Tina and Jared hadn't left the hospital; instead, they went to the office Jared had previously prepared for Tina, which contained everyone's medical records, including those of Hayden and others who were now recuperating on the second floor. "Jason hasn't woken up yet, but Elsa has regained consciousness. She still can't move much, but the others are gradually recovering. There shouldn't be any major issues, and I estimate Jason will be almost there in another two days." Tina flipped through the medical files and finally picked up Natalie's medical record.
"I don't know when my mom will wake up."
Tina pursed her lips; she had listed many methods to awaken Natalie, each with its corresponding risks, making them too dangerous to attempt lightly. Jared gently soothed Tina's back, whispering, "Tina, don't worry, your master will be fine." "Yeah, this surgery was expensive, she'll have to pay me back!" Tina looked at Jared very seriously, almost as if she was demanding a debt from her own mother. Jared moved his lips but found himself at a loss for words. Alright, his Tina was still the same Tina, unchanged!
At Kongham University, Lysander sat in the café, silently stirring his coffee. These past few days, with Courtney hospitalized, Orson hadn't come to bother him, much to his relief.Text content © NôvelDrama.Org.
Yet, Lysander couldn't feel happy. He didn't know how to approach Tina. The Reed family's affairs had concluded, and it seemed he hadn't contributed much.
Like a peripheral character, he appeared occasionally but couldn't make a lasting impression on the protagonist, much like his place in Tina's heart. Lysander was somewhat unwilling to accept this.
Why? He had known Tina first and was familiar with her, so why had Jared, that old man, gotten ahead? Or was it really as Stephanie suggested, that Tina had been misled by Jared? Now, it seemed he had little strength to dislodge Jared's position.
"Lysander, what are you thinking about?" Lysander snapped back to reality to see Stephanie already sitting across from him. Since their last encounter, they hadn't met.
"Long time no see, have your injuries healed?" Lysander asked. Stephanie nodded, "Yeah, the wounds on my leg are no longer a major issue, thanks for asking. But you, you still look heavily burdened."
Lysander gave a bitter smile, not responding. How complex could a young man's worries be? Ultimately, they still revolved around one person. Stephanie clearly understood.
"Hasn't Tina come to see you yet?" she asked cautiously. Lysander self-deprecatingly replied, "Why would she come to see me? I'm not of any use; it would be pointless for her to do so."
Stephanie sighed deeply, her face full of pity, "That's really too bad. I thought Tina was very independent. After what happened, she would definitely break away, especially with you as a backup, why stick with Jared?" Stephanie paused, realizing her words might have been inappropriate, she quickly clarified, "I didn't mean it like that, I'm not calling you a backup."
But what Lysander cared about was not this, "What exactly happened to Tina? Did Jared do something wrong to her?"
