Chapter 298 Love Is With A Cost (Part Three)

He pinned her tightly between himself and the wall, stared down at her face and said in earnest voice,

"Baby, listen to me, please. I have no feelings for Sally."

Cherry stared up at his face inches from her. When she had calmed down enough, she recognized his

familiar features and knew she wasn't dreaming. Jackson was really standing in front of her.

"You don't have to explain to me, because I don't want to listen to what you have to say." Cherry calmly

told him.

Jackson felt somewhat stunned by the serious tone behind her words.

When Jackson didn't respond, she continued, "I can't understand your relationship with that woman, so

why would you have to explain to me? If you love her, just go and find her."

"But the one that I love is you! It's always been you!" Jackson said firmly as he looked into Cherry's

eyes.

Cherry met his gaze, and at that moment, she felt his gaze had nearly captured her heart until

suddenly, she thought about what had happened sometime earlier at home. The things Jackson had

said that hurt her, the sting from the slap across her face, and the resentful look in his eyes toward her

when Grandpa had fallen. How special his love was!

"Alright, sure, you love me." Cherry sneered as she said to him.

Jackson didn't understand why she said it like that, and he thought she was still angry about Sally, so

he continued, "Baby! Believe me! I love You! I do, truly!"

"Jackson, tell me, can I believe every word you say?" Cherry asked him out of the blue.

Jackson immediately fell mute. If he told her "yes", then she would believe him even when he

concealed something from her, and that would be unfair to her.

When Jackson didn't answer her question, she smiled bitterly questioning herself, 'Why did I fall in love

with this man? Do I love the forceful disposition? Or was it his handsome face I fell in love with? Why

didn't I ever understand his heart? No matter how hard I try, I failed to be part of his world. I'm still

lingering on the outside of his realm.'

"Let me go, now. I don't want to cry today." Cherry said flatly, with a cold expression on her face.

When Jackson saw the resolve in her eyes, he knew he had no other choice but to listen to what she

was saying and slowly loosened his grip.

After Jackson freed his grip, Cherry turned to leave the room, but Jackson pulled her back to him.

He took her by the hands gently, as though he was afraid he would hurt her if he held too tight, and

then hugged her from behind.

Jackson whispered "Baby. I'm sorry!" softly as he leaned his face next to her ear.

The softness of his voice caressing her ear almost made Cherry cry out. She asked herself, 'Does he

really have to apologize to me? What is he apologizing for? Is he sorry because he doesn't love me?

Or, because he stayed with Sally?'

"There's no reason for you to apologize. You didn't do anything wrong to me." She said firmly as she

asked herself, 'Why am I angry with him? Sometimes, I pretended to be happy in front of him for selfish

reasons too. Didn't I deceive him as he did to me? Then? Why am I so strict with him?'

"Baby, please don't be angry. You're my wife, and I'll spend the rest of my life with you, nobody else but

you." Jackson whispered in her ear.

Cherry calmly said, "Jackson?"

"Yes? I'm listening." Jackson reassured.

"You don't have to be so selfish. You have other important people to consider. Grandpa and Joe are

your relatives, and you can't leave them alone." Cherry reminded him.

"I know, I know that. You three are the most important people in the world to me, and especially you. I

love you." Jackson said lovingly against her ear.

Cherry flatly replied, "Jackson, don't love me. I'm afraid you'll fail."

Stunned by what she was saying, Jackson wondered, 'What did she mean by those words?'

Cherry knew Jackson couldn't understand what she meant, because she had just decided, that since

Jackson didn't love her, she would stay by his side only to ferret out all of his secrets. She wanted to be

aware of everything about him because he was the man she loved most and he was the father of her

son.

"You don't want to let me know your secrets, but I'll do my utmost to find out everything about you. I

realize it's against your will, and that I'm setting myself against you! So I'm afraid that you'll fail to love

me." Explained Cherry slowly and deliberately.

Jackson fell into silence for a while before saying, "Baby, listen to me, you stay in my arms, and I'll take

good care of everything. You don't have to look for the truth of everything; I'm afraid you wouldn't be

able to bear them."

"You're able to carry them on your own, then why wouldn't I be able to share them with you?" With that,

Cherry turned around facing Jackson and looked in his eyes asking, "When I married you five years

ago, I knew nothing about you. I didn't even know about Sally. But now, you think I'm still willing to be

an ignorant fool?"

Cherry failed to finish telling him the things bellowing in her. She was trying to find out the whole truth,

so she would be better equipped to protect Joe. Joe was a descendant of the Chu Family, a fact that
