Chapter 290 Before The Party (Part One)
Chapter 290 Before The Party (Part One)
Derek and Selina felt very nervous in the car. They were worried sick about Andrew's physical
condition.
"Derek, Grandpa Andrew will be okay, won't he?" asked Selina, greatly concerned.
"Don't worry about it! He'll be fine; he's always been in good health, " said Derek, trying to comfort his
sister, although in his heart he was also very worried about him. He knew that if something wrong ever
happened to Andrew, a war would inevitably start in the city. A lot of people were already aware of the
fact that the underworld tokens were in Andrew's possession, and as everyone of them wanted to seize
their power, all of them would try their best to fight for the tokens. If Jackson couldn't make everyone in
the underworld support him as their leader, then a resistance would also appear, and then everything
would spiral out of control.
Selina then looked out the window and didn't say another single word. She thought, 'Grandpa Andrew
has always been kind to me, and although a lot of people are afraid of him because of his great power
and influence in the city, I'm not. I don't care about neither his power nor his influence, I only know that
he is a nice person. He's been around me ever since I was born, and he has always treated me very
well. When I went abroad that year, he gave me a plush toy as a gift. He was really nice to me, and I
regard him as my own grandfather, but now he's in the hospital; I hope that he'll get better soon and
always stays healthy.'
Inside the ward, Andrew slightly opened his eyes.
Jackson was very excited when he saw his Grandpa open his eyes, and he nervously looked at him.
Cherry and the butler noticed that Andrew was awake too, and they quickly took a few paces towards
his bed to see him better.
"Grandpa, you're awake!" said Jackson, very concerned.
Andrew slightly nodded at them. He looked at Jackson, and then looked at Cherry and the butler who
were beside him all together. After he saw his surroundings, he realized that he wasn't at home
anymore.
"Am I in the hospital?" asked Andrew in a feeble manner, because he had felt the smell of disinfectant
in the ward.
"Yes, " said Jackson. He then continued, "Grandpa, the doctor said that everything is alright, so please
don't worry about it and rest; you'll be yourself again in a couple of days."
Jackson was afraid that his grandfather might feel uneasy, so he tried to comfort him, but actually, he
was the one who was worried the most about Andrew. He felt very distressed when he saw that his
Grandpa was lying weak on the bed.
"I'll be fine, I've always been in good health, " said Andrew, with a weak smile on his face. How could
he show his debility in front of his grandson and granddaughter-in-law?
Suddenly, Andrew thought of something, and quickly said to Jackson, "Aren't you and Cherry supposed
to be at a party tonight? Why haven't you gone there yet?"
Jackson hesitated for a moment, and while he looked at Andrew, said, "Grandpa, I won't go to the party
tonight. I'll stay here with you."
"No! You definitely can't do this! You know what an important party it is, and how can we Chu Family
members be absent from it?" With these words, Andrew turned his eyes from Jackson to Cherry, and
said to her, "Cherr, hurry up! Go there with Jackson right now! Don't be late!"
"No, Grandpa! You're in the hospital now, and we won't be at ease to leave you here all alone. Please
let us stay here together with you, " calmly said Cherry, trying her best to hold back onto all of her
emotions.
"I have the butler here to keep me company. Don't worry about me, just go there, " said Andrew. He
would never allow himself to be a drag on his grandson.
Cherry didn't say anything, and instead she turned to look at Jackson. She didn't think that she could
be the one who could make the final decision; she was just as what Jackson had thought of her in his
heart, she was just a nobody.
Andrew saw that Jackson kept silent, and after he thought for while, he kindly said to him, "Jackson,
you should know what your priorities are at the current moment. I'm in the hospital now, and if you and
Cherry don't go to the party, everyone will soon find out that there's something wrong with me. Once
they know that I'm ill, all those who desired our power will spare no effort in trying to strip me of it. You
know what will happen next. Do you really want to face that kind of situation?"
After hearing Andrew's words, Jackson got lost in thought. He hadn't thought about that, and he only
wanted to accompany his beloved Grandpa, who was in great need of him. He had completely
forgotten about the influence that Andrew and the Chu Family had over the whole city.
Cherry, who was standing beside them, also knew that something bad would happen if others knew
that Andrew was ill. Even though she didn't know what exactly would take place if that were to happen,
she knew that the Chu Family had always played an important role in the city, and that its power and
influence were very great. Andrew had been the one in charge of the Chu Family for decades, and she
was quite sure that it wasn't a good idea to let anyone else know about Andrew's condition.
Meanwhile, the butler was standing on the other side of the bed and was smirking inside. He thought to
himself, 'If Andrew died now, chaos would begin. But I can't let that happen so soon, because I haven't
gotten the token yet. After I get the token and the power in my hands, I'll kill Andrew with my own
hands, if he's still alive by then.'
The butler then hastily approached the bed. He put on a false smile on his face, and said to Jackson,
"Jackson, listen to your Grandpa and think of the overall interests. Don't worry, I'll take care of your
Grandpa, you just go to the party with Cherry. You know that the party is very important for both the JS
Group, and the Chu Family." Copyright Nôv/el/Dra/ma.Org.
Jackson didn't look at the butler nor did he reply to his words. He just quietly looked at his Grandpa,
who was lying on the bed.
Suddenly, Derek and Selina pushed the door open and quickly came inside.
Derek and Selina glanced at Jackson and Cherry and then quickly approached the bed to see Andrew.
Derek asked very concerned, "Grandpa, are you feeling better now?"
Selina also talked to him in a worried tone, "Grandpa..."
Andrew was very happy when he saw that both Derek and Selina also came to see him. He was
contented to have the four considerate children staying around him and caring about him.
"I'm fine; don't worry about me, " said Andrew with a smile on his face.
Derek then turned to Jackson, and asked, "What did the doctor say?"
"Everything is alright, Grandpa is in good health, " said Jackson. He then fell silent again. One moment
he was anxious, and the next he didn't want to talk to anyone.
After they heard that Andrew was okay, Selina walked up to Cherry. As soon as she approached her,
she saw that half of Cherry's face was red and swollen. After she thought for a moment, she guessed
that Jackson must have been the one who had done that to Cherry. She was eager to know what
exactly had happened, but in the meantime she also realized that it wasn't the right time nor the right
place for her to get her answer. Also, Andrew was there, and she didn't want him to be bothered by it.
