Chapter 282 Strolling Under The Starry Sky (Part Two)

Cherry looked deep in Harrison's eyes and was eager to hear his answer.

Harrison rubbed his chin thoughtfully, and then said, "I remember something."

"Dad, could you tell me about that? What exactly happened that year?" asked Cherry, with eager

anticipation reflected in her eyes. She had finally found someone who could tell her about what had

actually happened in the past.

"The military circle seemed to be in chaos at that time. It was said that the He Family or the An Family

had revealed a military secret, and that several people were to be executed. I didn't know exactly what

was going on, because this was a matter of the military, and many of us civilians didn't know anything

about it at all. Anyway, some people died during that time, and the Chu Family sent a lot of people to

surround the whole city. During that time, there were people sent by the Chu Family at all transportation

ports, but I didn't know whether they were looking for someone or doing something else. Everything

Harrison helplessly shook his head, and said, "Ever since then, the Chu Family has rarely appeared

out in public, but its power is greater than ever before. All the people are afraid of the Chu Family.

Although the Chu Family hasn't done anything evil, many people feel terrified when they hear the name

Jackson."

Cherry continued to ask, "Dad, why did something bad happen to the He and An Families? Do you

know that?"

Harrison shook his head, and said, "I don't know, but you should better ask people that come from the

military if you really want to know what happened in that year. They certainly know more than us

civilians do."

Cherry thought for some time and agreed with what her father said. The people in the military surely

knew what happened. Stephen knew it, Sally knew it, and maybe John knew it too, but they all didn't

dare to tell her because they feared Jackson.

Hearing no reply from his daughter, Harrison continued to say, "Cherry, I think that you'd better move

on and forget about the things that happened in the past. Since Jackson treats you well, you just need

"I understand, " replied Cherry, but in reality she didn't want to give up her inquiries. How could she not

care about things that were related to Jackson? He was as important as her own life was, and she

wanted to know everything about him.

Harrison didn't want to talk about the topic anymore. He then changed the subject, and asked, "Cherry,

tell me something about your mother; is she all right?"

Cherry nodded while she looked at Harrison, and then said, "Yeah, she's fine. Jacob is very nice to my

mom, and he's also very kind to me."

"That's good! Wilson is nice too; he came to visit me last time, and said that it was you who asked him

to find me and give me the money, but I didn't accept it, " said Harrison gently. He finally understood

that some things were more important than money. He had indulged in his money chase for so long

when he was young, and had neglected in the process his family. Now, when he had finally understood

the true meaning of a family bond, all that he had left was Cherry.

"Yes, I asked him to visit you, " replied Cherry.

Soon after, Cherry remembered of her sister, Jean. She wanted to tell something about her to Harrison,

but she didn't know how. She hadn't seen Jean yet, and she didn't know what had happened to her

during the past few years; she also didn't know what kind of life she had lived, so how could she speak

to Harrison about her when she also didn't know anything?

Eventually, she abandoned the idea, and instead chatted with Harrison about other things for a while.

Cherry returned back home, and found that Jackson was already there. After she saw her son watching

TV in the living room, she started to walk towards him.

"Joe!" cheerfully shouted Cherry.

"Mommy! You're back!" replied Joe with a big smile on his face.

"Yes, I am!" replied Cherry. She then touched her son's head, and as she looked around, she asked

him, "Where are your Great-Grandpa and your Daddy?"

"Great-Grandpa is playing chess at a neighbor's house and Daddy's upstairs, " said Joe, with his eyes

focused on the cartoons from the TV.

"Okay. Don't forget to do your homework after you finish watching TV; I'll go upstairs now, okay?" asked

Cherry.

"Yes, Mommy, I will do my homework after dinner."

Cherry then went upstairs, and just when she was about to enter the bedroom, she saw that the light

from the study was on. She stopped for a moment, and thought, 'Maybe Jackson is in the study.'

After Cherry walked to the study and stood in the door she saw that Jackson was sitting at his desk and

looking at his computer; it seemed that he was looking for something.

Jackson noticed the figure standing in the doorway from the corner of his eye and then looked at

Cherry.

She then walked in. "What are you doing here?" gently asked Cherry.

Jackson lifted his hands up from the computer's keyboard and gestured a hug, indicating that he

wanted Cherry to come to his arms.

"Nothing important, I was just looking at the stock market, " said Jackson.
