Chapter 193
A Watch
Before Lauren could speak, Benjamin said, "Lauren just came to give me a gift."
His actions made Lauren stunned, and she looked at him in disbelief. Was he explaining to Harper?Exclusive © content by N(ô)ve/l/Drama.Org.
Harper just glanced at him lightly without any intention of saying anything. She walked over and handed the gift to Benjamin, saying, "Happy birthday." She did not respond to Benjamin's words or show any emotion.
Benjamin stared at her with lowered eyes, reached out to take the gift, and then opened it directly.
It was a black watch.
Although it was not from a luxury brand, it's workmanship was exquisite.
Lauren could see the mark of Hannah engraved on the dial of the watch. She was a little surprised and said, "Is this a watch designed by Hannah?" Hannah was a watch designer. Many famous brands wanted to cooperate with her, but she rejected them all. Now she has founded her own brand.
Benjamin also noticed it and looked gentle. He looked at Harper and asked, "Is it a work from Hannah?"
"Yes, my friend happened to know her."
Harper just responded lightly, not intending to say too much.
Benjamin showed a faint smile.
Hannah would not promise easily to design a watch, so Harper must have done a lot for this.
This meant that the watch was unique.
Benjamin looked at Harper with increasingly gentle eyes. They looked at each other as if there was no one else. At that moment, Lauren felt extremely dissatisfied.
Lauren gritted her teeth and said calmly, "Does Harper know Hannah? But I remember that it is difficult to get an appointment with Hannah. Even if your friend knows her, your friend is probably not close with her, right?"
Benjamin frowned subconsciously. He glanced at Lauren with some displeasure, seeming to warn her to talk less.
But Lauren quickly explained, "Benjamin, I don't mean anything else. I'm just worried that you would be embarrassed if you wear a fake watch at important events."
Harper smiled, glanced at Lauren, and said, "So do you mean this watch is a pirated one and not made by Hannah?"
"Harper, I didn't say that. I'm just curious. Why are you so anxious?"
"Aren't you the anxious one? Don't you remember that you once fooled Paul with a famous painting on his birthday?"
On Paul's birthday, Lauren had been laughed at by the people in the upper class for giving him a painting. All those memories were instantly brought back because of Harper's words. Lauren's face was pale. She subconsciously looked at Benjamin with tears in her eyes and explained quickly, "Benjamin, I..."
"Ms. Davis, are you pretending to be pitiful to ask for help because you cannot refute?"
Harper stared at her calmly. Harper was unhappy that Lauren always used the same method.
Tears fell on Lauren's face in the next second, and she looked at Benjamin with tears in her eyes. "Benjamin, are you going to watch Harper bully me like this?"
"Did I bully you? If telling the truth is bullying you, then everyone around you is bullying you."
Harper snorted coldly.
Benjamin also had a grim face. He looked at Harper calmly and said in a low voice, "Stop arguing, okay?"
He showed no emotion in his tone, but Harper's eyes instantly turned cold.
Lauren glanced at Harper proudly and laughed out loud in her heart.
She wiped her tears, looked up at Harper, and then said calmly, "Harper, I know you have no bad intentions. For Benjamin's sake, I won't be mad at you."
Harper didn't speak but looked at Benjamin indifferently.
Then Benjamin said in a low voice, "Lauren, go in first."
