Chapter 3029
As soon as Avery left, Shelly immediately called Hayden, who was taking a stroll in the park near the hospital with Audrey. Upon receiving the call, he answered it right away. "Has my mom left?"
"She just did. How do you know she was here?" Shelly asked.
"I dropped by the hospital with Audrey an hour ago." Hayden sighed a breath of relief. "Why was my mom there?"
"She came to see my mom. Your mom is just so nice and friendly! She said she will come back with your dad to check on my mom tomorrow."
Shelly was so touched that she felt a lump forming in her throat.
Since her mother forbade her from telling the family, Shelly originally thought she would be the only one taking care of her mother during her surgery and had never expected Hayden and his family to take care of them so well.
"I'll bring our daughter over now," Hayden spoke up.
"Maybe it's better not to bring our daughter here. After all, this is a hospital, and it wouldn't be good if she caught something," said Shelly. "In our hometown, we don't bring children to visit the sick or attend funerals."
Hayden had always enjoyed freedom since he was a child, and Avery had never imposed any rules on him, so he was not aware of such customs.
However, Shelly had made a valid point; children have weaker immune systems, and it might not be worth the risk to bring them to the hospital. "Then I'll take her home," Hayden said.
"Sure. If you find it boring, you can leave Audrey with a servant. There's no need to delay your other affairs because of this." Shelly was worried that he would get tired or bored taking care of Audrey. After all, taking care of a child was a tedious and exhausting task, and the initial novelty would eventually wear off.
"It's the weekend, and I don't have anything else to do. It's a bit windy outside, and I'm afraid our daughter might catch a cold." Hayden carried their daughter into the car, planning to go home. "I'll have someone bring you food for lunch later."
Shelly felt touched. "Thank you! Just one meal is enough; my mother can't eat anything today."
"Okay."
After ending the call, Hayden received a call from his mother.
Avery had come out of the hospital and wanted to visit Hayden since he had a house nearby.
Hayden's calm expression vanished when he heard his mother's words.
"Mom, let me tell you the truth!" Hayden took a deep breath and confessed, "Shelly and her mother are staying in that villa right now."
Avery was momentarily shocked but
quickly regained her composure.
"Oh, I see! That's great! Why did you keep it a secret from me? Did you think wouldn't approve? Is that what you think of me? Even if you give her the house, I would have no objections!"
Hayden remained calm despite his mother's excitement. "Mom, Shelly is a delicate girl."
"That's true, but you can't keep
you
hiding things from me forever, can you? I'll always find out." Avery still sounded a bit reproachful. "Your relationship with Shelly has been progressing so quickly! What thinking? Why did you suddenly start treating her so well? No matter how much I praised her in the past, you always remained indifferent. I lose tab on you for a few days and you two start to form your little family?!"
Hayden fell silent.
"I called you on a video call yesterday, and Shelly answered. You were in that villa at the time, right?" Avery continued.
"Mom, Shelly and I need some space."Owned by NôvelDrama.Org.
"When did I stop you from being with
her? If you need space, why don't
you just move in together? Do you want me to help you pack your bags and send them over?" Avery went along with the flow. "You don't need to pack too much; just bring a couple of changes of clothes. I'm sure everything else is already in the mansion."
Avery's enthusiasm rendered Hayden speechless.
