Chapter 504
Chapter 504 A Child From Nowhere
“It’s good that you know,” Lysander said.
After applying the salve on her, Josiah gently stood up. While straightening the first aid kit, he said, “In truth, I’ve come to a realization. If you don’t want to get back together, that’s fine. It’s good enough for us
to remain as we are now.”
“If you want to have kids, don’t waste your time with me,” Lysander warned.
“Naturally, I wanted kids.”
With a snap, Josiah closed the first aid kit.
He then continued, “But you’re right. A child should be born into a loving family. I won’t fall in love with any other woman, so I wouldn’t have a child just for the sake of having one.”
“Then, you might end up alone for the rest of your life,” Lysander said.
Josiah chuckled lightly. “So be it, then.”This belongs © NôvelDra/ma.Org.
In the end, Josiah left and returned to his own room.
After he had left, Daphne said to Lysander via WhatsApp, “Do you actually believe him? Most men think of having children. Even someone like Harry insisted on having a son. Considering the vast wealth of the Guerra family, do you trust that he would never want a child until the day he breaths his last?”
Lysander found himself unable to refute those words.
Having spent a long time in the obstetrics and gynecology department, she had witnessed all sorts of absurd situations.
For instance, a middle–aged couple married for over thirty years decided not to have children, but the husband suddenly had a change of heart. He found a woman in her twenties and had three children with her in quick succession. The family of five then lived happily together, leaving his menopausal wife alone.
Another man made grand promises of being together forever, but when it was discovered that the wife had health issues that made pregnancy unlikely, he turned his back on her in an instant. He filed for divorce immediately. And in less than two months, he brought another woman for a prenatal checkup.
Even ordinary people acted that way, let alone Josiah.

“By the way, Lysander, did you see the message sent by our class representative in the group chat?”
“I’ve been busy lately and fell ill, so I didn’t check my messages. What happened?” Lysander asked.
“Next weekend is our school’s hundredth year anniversary! I heard that a lot of famous alumni are coming back. Our class representative urged those who can attend to do so to show support for our alma mater. Even if we can’t do much, we can at least boost the headcount”
“All right, then. It’s been a while since I’ve seen our former classmate anyway,” Lysander said.
“Okay. Then, we’ll go together when the time comes. I’ll also be bringing someone along for you to assess,

“Don’t worry Just take a look at him first. If you think he’s good, I’ll keep him. But if you find him. unsuitable, I’ll immediately ditch him and look for someone else. It’s all about casting a wide net to catch more fish. Efficiency, my dear, efficiency,” Daphne said.
At her words, Lysander was actually relieved.
“All right. We’ll see each other then
The room Josiah chose was in an excellent location. It was at the end of the corridor on the top floor, vinually free from anyone causing a disruption.
In the early morning, a light rain began in the mountains, its gentle pitter–patter creating a soothing ambiance, allowing Lysander to enjoy a good night’s sleep for once.
Upon waking up, she headed to the hotel’s restaurant for breakfast. A service staff with a sweet smile proactively handed the menu to her. “Ms. Thorne, our breakfast is served buffet–style here. If you have any specific requests, do let us know.”
It was clear she had been instructed about it beforehand.
“Thanks, but it’s okay. I’ll just have whatever’s available.”
Lysander wasn’t picky with food. At that moment, all she wanted was to find a quiet place to eat.
Seeing that, the service staff didn’t disturb her further. Instead, she merely led her to a spot by the window with the best view.
Recently, Lysander had grown tired of oatmeal. Taking a tray, she took a few sandwiches and a glass of warm milk before returning to the small square table with a table plaque and sat down.
The view from the first floor wasn’t as good as the top floor. It didn’t offer a sight of the canyons in the distance. However, its advantage was in the proximity of the restaurant and backyard. Sitting there, one only needed to lift one’s gaze slightly to behold the lush greenery. If one listened closely, one could also hear the melodic chirping of the birds.
She sipped her milk while reading the economic news updates on her phone.
Just then, the sudden sound of wheels scraping against the ground echoed beside her, punctuated by rhythmic footsteps.
In the next moment, a friendly feminine voice rang out. “Hello. Is this seat occupied?”
Lysander looked up to the sight of an exquisitely dressed young lady standing before her. She appeared to be around the same age as her, but/she was already a mother. The baby stroller she wheeled contained a baby about half a year old, smiling innocently.
The baby, Aurora, noticed someone watching her and promptly greeted Lysander with her developing vocal system. “Oh.”
Lysander quickly replied, “The sear across from me is free. Please have a seat.”
Upon hearing that, the woman sat across from her with the baby stroller without hesitation. Her eyes dancing with a friendly smile, she casually said, “That’s wonderfull I thought I had to change seats.”

“No worries. There are plenty of seats in the restaurant,” Lysander said smilingly.
The woman nodded with utmost solemnity. Then, she said cheerfully, “I was naturally worried. Look outside the window. The view from this spot is the best in the morning. Once the rain stops later, you can even see a rainbow.”
At the mention of a rainbow, Lysander’s interest was piqued. She followed her gaze, but unfortunately, it was too early, and the sunlight was not strong enough to create the sight they were hoping for, and she was only with the clear blue sky.
“Just wait a little longer. I’ll let you know when the rainbow appears, the woman offered generously. “This is a secret I discovered after observing for several days.”
Someone who could afford to enjoy breakfasts for several consecutive days at the resort must be a regular customer there, her affluent background evident. Coupled with such a carefree disposition, she had to be a prominent young lady whose life had been smooth sailing since childhood. Verily, it was enviable.
As Lysander looked at the cheerful woman, she couldn’t help but be reminded of Daphne and found herself fond of her. She casually remarked, “Thank you for sharing this secret with me.”
“Don’t mention it. Someone who can sit here is certainly no ordinary person. What is your relationship with Josiah?”
She knotes Josiah?
Lysander recalled Amelia, whom she met yesterday.
Could it be another one of his close confidante? This one is even has a child with her!
“Is it off–limits? It’s okay. If that’s the case, forget I asked. I understand.”
Grinning, the woman winked at Lysander. She first secured the baby stroller beside the table before adjusting the angle so Aurora could sit up.
Aurora faced the backyard beyond the window. Her round, big eyes instantly lit up. She began bobbing her petite head around to take in all the sights. The hat adorned with flowers on her head also started swaying with her movements.
Lysander’s heart melted at the sight. She couldn’t help but compliment softly, “Your daughter is truly adorable. She must be about six months old, right?”
