Her Return, His Regret

Chapter 49~ The showcase

Lora blinked, looking into Ryan's eyes.

Did he know something? Could Ivy have told him the truth?

'No... Ivy wouldn't tell Ryan about what she discovered about me,' Lora mused.

Before Lora could react or respond, Ryan let go of her before walking up the stage. He took the microphone from the host and announced, "Good evening, ladies and gentlemen."

At the sound of Ryan's voice, the crowd fell silent and turned to glance at him on the stage.

Ryan smiled and said, "Thank you all for coming... LAN's Luxurious Jewelry is special to me and I would love to see it grow and become successful."

He searched for Lora in the crowd and when his eyes found her, he smiled and added, "It's now time for the big reveal... our production team was able to bring Miss L's vision into reality and I hope they did justice to her beautiful designs." "Now, the moment we've all been waiting for, ladies and gentlemen, put your hands together for Miss L's collection!"

While everyone was wondering when they would bring out the shelves that would display the jewelry, the lights in the hall suddenly dimmed. Silence fell over the place and Lora's breath caught in her throat.

Just like everyone, she couldn't wait to see the end result of her work. Her heart pounded in her chest in anticipation.

Suddenly, an aisle extending from the stage to the audience suddenly appeared from the floor, making people gasp in surprise.

Upbeat music began to play and suddenly, the stage was lit just as a model stepped onto the runway, adorned with pieces of jewelry.

"Wow," someone murmured and the rest followed.

"This is beautiful... Miss L deserves the title of the genius designer."

"I want that necklace... it has to be mine!"

"The bracelets would look good on me. I'll place an order immediately."

Most of the guests went onto the company's website to order the jewelry and before the first model could walk back, the jewelry on her body was already sold out.

More models walked down the runway, wearing different types of jewelry, and showcasing Lora's designs.

Lora took out her phone and her breath hitched when she saw the numbers that placed orders for new jewelry to be made using the same designs. The response was so overwhelming that Lora's eyes brimmed with tears. It always felt good when people took her work seriously.

Meanwhile, the crowd kept praising the jewelry that the models were wearing. The models, donning light clothing to make the jewelry stand out, smiled at the audience, the jewelry sparkling under the reflection of the light. A ripple of compliments continued to sweep through the crowd as they watched the show with awe.

Lora herself was moved to tears... she knew her designs were good but actually seeing them on different people was different. Seeing her work make the models look so elegant, Lora's heart swelled with pride. Looking at the audience who seemed to love her work, Lora's heart leapt with joy. All her hard work was worth it... after all, she created such designs to see such smiles on people's faces.

Just then, the final model appeared on the runway and Lora's eyes widened into saucers.

Bianca?

Indeed, the last model to showcase the main jewelry piece for that night was none other than Bianca Jones, Lora's bestie.

Although Lora was shocked, she felt proud and happy for her friend who looked stunning on the stage.

Bianca wore a simple but elegant emerald green gown. It was strapless to leave room for the necklace adorning her neck. The necklace was entirely made up of diamonds that twinkled like the stars under the spotlights. Walking on the runway gracefully, Bianca couldn't be more beautiful... she looked like an angel that had descended to earth on a mission.

When Bianca reached the end of the runway, she paused, striking a pose before her eyes found Lora in the crowd. Bianca winked at her bestie before blowing her a kiss, earning amused chuckles from the audience.

feeling warm. She was so happy to have her friend wear the jewelry she designed... it was like she had designed the necklace specifically for Bianca because it looked so perfect on her.

When Bianca walked back, signalling the end of the catwalk, Ryan went back on the stage. He smiled and said, "Wow... it's safe to say, all the jewelry displayed tonight has been sold out. Let's give ourselves a round of applause. Your response was overwhelming!"

The audience clapped for a few seconds before Ryan raised his hand to stop them. He then glanced at Lora, a smile crossing his lips before he remarked, "I would like to invite the woman responsible for tonight 's success. Without her think this new company would still be trying to squeeze into the jewelry market. Ladies and gentlemen, let's welcome to the stage, Miss Davis, aka, Miss L, the legendary designer!"

The crowd erupted in applause and cheers, staring at Lora in admiration as she made her way to the stage.

Lora took the stage. She grabbed the microphone from Ryan and stared at the crowd. Smiling, she said, "Thank you all so much for your support... It was an honour to show you my work tonight and I'm glad you loved it."

The crowd applauded again, their enthusiasm making Lora feel genuinely touched. Her eyes met Ryan's and the two smiled at each other, both happy at the outcome of the launch party.

Meanwhile, as everyone was celebrating with Lora and Ryan for the successful launch of the company, Ivy sat in her wheelchair in a dark corner, her teeth itching with hatred as she glared at Lora with jealousy flashing through her eyes.
