Chapter 53
Third-person narrative.
The moment Gina opened her eyes, she couldn’t tell where she was.
The room was dim, with little lights coming from the machines that were fixed on her serving as the only source of light in the room.
She wondered how she got here, as the only sound she could pick up was the peeping sound of the machine.
On turning her face side to the left and seeing the heart monitoring machine, that was the moment she realized she was, in fact, in a hospital bed.
When she tried moving her hands, she felt the stinging pain of drips dipping deep into her veins.
She wondered why she was in a hospital, as she wasn’t feeling sick or anything. If anything, she was feeling perfectly fine.
Could it be that she was dreaming? But the stinging pain from the injections sticking to her skin says otherwise.
A familiar sweet scent filled the room as she turned her head to the right side to see Denver sleeping on the chair beside her.
Seeing Denver by her side gave her some sort of comfort.
She thought of waking him up to ask him what was happening, but at the same time, she didn’t mean to disturb him. Just then, the door opened, and the sound of the door woke up Denver.
The lights came on, and that was when he noticed that she was awake and that the person who had entered the room was a doctor.
Or was it a nurse?
She was a young woman putting on doctor’s apparel. She was beautiful, probably in her early thirties, with a warm smile that could melt anyone’s heart.
“Good morning, Alpha,” the doctor politely greeted Denver before turning her attention to Gina.
“You are awake?” she questioned as she walked over to the other side of the bed Gina lay on to check her vitals.
“Good morning, doctor,” Gina greeted the doctor.
“Good morning, Miss Gina. Now tell me how you’re feeling,” she questioned, writing down stuff on the notepad she was holding.
“I am fine,” Gina answered.
“Oh, you look really fine; do you have any headaches, pains, or discomfort anywhere?” the doctor interrogated.
“No, I don’t,” Gina answered.Exclusive content from NôvelDrama.Org.
“Then why are you here? You should be home this minute,” the doctor said while taking off all the drips and machines that were fixed on Gina.
There was something about the doctor who seemed very familiar to Gina, even though she couldn’t place her hands on it.
Once the doctor was done, she turned to Denver to address him.
“Alpha, your Luna is fine, but she would need a lot of rest, and make sure that she is never alone,” she said to a confused-looking Denver.
Denver was about to ask a question when the doctor quickly said,
“I know you are wondering who I am since you have never really seen me here before. But my name is Doctor Ivory, and I specifically came here to ensure that you and your mate are fine. Now I will have to go because I know you both are anxious to be left alone,” she said while heading to the door.
“Oh, and one more thing, you may want to keep your voice down; you know this is a hospital,” she said, and before Denver, who was already pissed, could say anything, she was out of the door.
As strange as it felt, I found myself laughing mildly after the doctor left.
“I don’t f*****g care what you think about her, she is annoying,” Denver said to Gina, who couldn’t help but chuckle at his words.
“What happened? I mean, how did I get here?” She questioned him.
“You slumped as soon as we got home, and we decided to bring you here to the packed clinic, You have been unconscious all this while, until now,” he said as his eyes scanned my body.
“it is unclear to me why can’t I remember anything, but I do feel absolutely fine,” she said to him.
“That’s good to hear; you almost gave us a heart attack,” he said, gently stroking the back of her palm.
“I am sorry about that,” she found herself apologizing to him.
“It’s not me you should apologize to; it’s your room; she is sleeping in the next room,” he said, slowly lifting her hand to place a k**s on the spot the drip had been pulled out from.
“Oh God, she must be so stressed,” she said, subconsciously closing her eyes as the sparks from his touch sent chills through her body.
“If stress is all it takes for us to have you back, then it’s nothing. I thought I had lost you,” he said, starting at the still swollen and reddish sport. As if he could magically make the scar fade away.
“Common, I’m not sure that it was that serious,” she said in a lighter tone.
“I’m glad you don’t see it that way,” he said to her, lifting his eyes to stare at her.
“Can we go home now?” she questioned.
“It’s late, and I would want the senior doctor to come to certify that you are good to go home,” Denver said to her.
“Thanks,” Gina said to him, and he gazed into her eyes and smiled.
“I will get a proper thank you when we get home,” he said, and the implication of what he had just said was well understood by her.
At daybreak, everyone was happy to see that Gina was fine and healthy, and many thought it was a miracle that Gina had been saved by the goddess.
Lucia was or appeared to be, pleased to welcome her mistress back home.
Despite Gina finding her new maid a little strange, she very much enjoyed her company, and soon they became excellent friends.
She would buy her things and make her as comfortable as she could, and with time, Lucia found herself liking Gina too.
Whenever her triplet mates were not around, Gina would spend time with Lucia, talking and cooking.
When the news of Gina’s sudden recovery got to Gwen and her father, they were both furious as to what Anesi’s game was.
They had thought that Anesi would slowly kill Gina back in the hospital.
But again, Lucas Amel had failed in fulfilling his part of the bargain; he didn’t realize how difficult it would be for him to kill the alpha king when he made that promise to Anise.
With just a few days until the Luna ritual, Gwen and her father were getting uncomfortable with the fact that Gina was fine and that her popularity among the pack members was becoming a force to be reckoned with.
And so also was the love between Gina and her triplet mates; it bloomed so much that she could hardly picture herself without her triplet mates, most especially Denver.
No day goes by without him and his brothers coming to see her, no matter how busy they were; they were always very protective of her.
One day, Gina woke up and looked around for Lucia, but she was nowhere to be found.
Gina panicked as the possible thought of Lucia being kidnapped or killed flooded her mind.
In a panic, she went searching the nearby woods for her. After some time of roaming the woods aimlessly, she found Lucia surrounded by four rogues.
Lucia was looking terrified as she tried to get away from the rogues, but the odds were not in her favor.
But the moment Lucia saw Gina, she screamed for Gina to come to her rescue.
“Help me, mistress, please,” she said to Gina, who was completely taken aback by what was happening.
“Please, mistress, help me,” Lucia cried out again to Gina, and at that moment, without thinking, Gina instinctively picked up the wood and started waving it at the rogues.
“Get away from her!” she screamed at the rogues, but they could tell that she was wolfless and was not afraid of her.
The rogues, seeing Gina, salivated and were about to attack her too. But her feistiness made them leave Lucia and focused on her.
“Lucia, run and get help,” she said to her maid, whom she had just saved.
Lucia pretentiously ran away and hid behind a tree, where she watched the scene with a faint, crooked smile hanging on her lips.
Gina was terrified but kept swinging the wood in her hand to chase off the rogues.
Just when one of the rogues makes to attack Gina, Lucia waves her hand and a heavy wind appears from nowhere and blows all the rogues away.
Gina was surprised as to what happened as she dropped the wood in her hand and ran back to her apartment.
