Chapter 75: The wrong side of the road
Once Allyce had parked the car, she got out and headed for the hospital’s inpatient unit.
This hospital was the one I had visited last time.
So I was quite familiar with it.
Allyce approached the nurse’s desk and asked: “Excuse me, is there a patient here named Casimiro?
“Yes, are you his family?” The young nurse looked at her, with a gleam of surprise and wonder in her eyes.
“Yes.” Allyce nodded.
The nurse pointed her in the direction: “It’s the second to last room over there”.
“Thank you.
Allyce approached in the direction she pointed.
When he reached the door of the room, he was about to knock when it opened from inside and a man and a woman came out.
As soon as Lavina saw Allyce, her eyes grew cold: “What are you doing here?
The man next to her smiled gently at Allyce: “Allyce, you’ve become a big girl after not seeing her for a few years.
Allyce got a lump in her throat at these words, but a smile appeared on her face: “It’s been years since I’ve seen you, Uncle Aybar hasn’t aged a bit.
“You’re the only one who can cajole.” Jonas smiled: “Go see your grandfather, I have things to do, I have to go.
Allyce nodded and pushed the door open.
Leaning against the door, she took a deep breath before continuing inside.
If there was one person, besides Lucila, who really cared about her after dad went to jail, it was who.
That person was Jonas.
Enzo’s father, Jonas Aybar.
Strange and unbelievable as it may seem.
Jonas’ reputation in the city of Cloud Cit is one of the best, and even his son, Enzo, has a good reputation.
That is why, as a child, she preferred the Aybar family, and perhaps Jonas had a good heart and that is why he did not mind that he had a father in prison.
But then, you can’t become a daughter-in-law, can you? Of course, all this was a long time ago.
…
Allyce pulled herself together and headed inside.
Casimiro was leaning on the bed, glasses on the bridge of his nose and a book in his hand, it was hard to tell from the cover what it was about.
“Grandpa!” Allyce called out to him and walked over, setting aside the fruit she had brought.
Casimir looked at her and said casually, “Here you go.
“Hmm.” Allyce looked around and glanced back at Casimir, “Is everything okay?”
“Good.” Casimiro put the book in his hand and took off his glasses: “What would become of the Delahoz group if something happened to me”.
“Don’t we have an uncle and a cousin? They’re both good. Allyce took the knife from the fruit and peeled it.
She needed to find something to do, otherwise she might go blind if she kept talking with her eyes open like this.
Casimiro looked at her and said nothing.
Allyce had the vague feeling that Casimiro was not really comfortable leaving the Delahoz group in Eric’s hands.
All members of the Delahoz family were calculating.
Allyce and Casimiro had little affection for each other.
He finished peeling an apple and left.
As he walked towards the car park, he saw Jonas and Lavina.
They seemed to be arguing about something and both looked uncomfortable.
Allyce, not knowing what was going through her mind, moved a little closer to listen to what they were saying.
Due to the distance, he only vaguely heard one name.
“Ariela Betances …”
Ariela Betances?
It was someone I didn’t know.
The two men argued for a moment and then went their separate ways.
Allyce sat back in the car with Jonas and Lavina arguing in her mind right now.
The Aybar and Delahoz families were close because Senona and Enzo were sweethearts, but from the way Jonas and Lavina had just argued, it was clear that there had been some kind of dispute.
Jonas and Lavina …
Allyce felt weird, but she couldn’t think about what was weird.
As he left, a black Bentley came out the other side.
Xabat looked at Severo in the rear-view mirror.
Seeing that Severo’s face was horribly grim, he did not speak reluctantly.
It was a moment later when he heard Severo’s cold, icy voice: “Go and check it out”.
…
On Friday night there was a departmental party at the company.
Allyce was not interested.
Lucila ran up excitedly: “Come on, it’s at Kimdis, the company pays for it”.
Kimdis …
“I’m not very interested.” Allyce resisted.
“Ughhh, come on, you’ve broken up with Mr. Betances and I have to link up with Mr. Xabat.” Lucila came up to his face with a spring in her step.
Allyce startled and pushed her away a little before nodding, “Come on, come on.”
“Yes!”
Lucila made a “V” gesture and ran out.
Allyce shook her head and laughed at Lucila’s fantasy.
Will you join him at Kimdis …?
Probably, yes …
…
In the evening.Property of Nô)(velDr(a)ma.Org.
Allyce went home to change before picking up Lucila.
When the two arrived at Kimdis, most people were already there.
Allyce and Lucila entered and were welcomed.
Allyce looks around and sees that Senona is not there.
Allyce asks Lucila: “Where is Senona?”
“She’s not coming.” Lucila turned her head and bit his ear, “I’m not stupid enough to ask you to come to a party that she’s coming to.”
Allyce: “…”
Oh, you idiot.
There wasn’t much to do at the party other than eat and drink.
Halfway through the meal, Lucila slipped away to look for Xabat, which Allyce, of course, would not do.
He had a few drinks and left the booth to go to the bathroom.
Just as he stepped out, the door to the next booth opened and out stepped a familiar figure, Richie Nuncio.
It was a real sight to behold.
He stepped back a little and went into the cabin, opening the door a little.
Then he saw Richie Nuncio limp past on one foot.
He thought about what Severo had said last time, about Richie Nuncio breaking one of his legs, and how he seemed to be limping a bit.
The shot must have hit Richie Nuncio in the knee.
Allyce casually picked up an empty wine bottle and followed her.
There were many grudges old and new, and it was against God not to do something to cheer himself up when he had been caught alone.
Richie Nuncio went into the bathroom with the first foot and Allyce followed him with the second, taking the bottle to his head and hitting him with it, not particularly hard as the bottle did not break.
A swift kick in the ass, and his whole body staggered to the ground.
“Shit, who’s been to … …”
Allyce stepped on his back and, instead of continuing to hit him in the head, punched him in the back of the shoulders of his arms.
“Who was that? …”
Allyce bellowed tunelessly, she wasn’t going to let Richie Nuncio know it was her.
Suddenly, the door of a toilet cubicle opened.
Allyce threw down her bottle in fright and started to run, but froze in place when she saw the man’s face.
Severo emerged from the toilet cubicle and collided head-on with Richie Nuncio, who had risen from the floor.
When Richie Nuncio saw Severo’s face, his whole facial expression turned into a fierce grimace: “You again! I was worried I wouldn’t be able to find you.
