Chapter 28
Chapter 28
The first thing I did was change my clothes because there is no one to take care of me. As I came out after changing my clothes I found that he was still in his study. Looking at his more I am sure he is going to be there whole night.
I accept the fact that I became a bit rude with him but is it not what his behaviour is towards me all the time?
I just stated the fact that I am not his real wife and he is going crazy over it.
Those who says that women are hard to read haven’t met
my fake husband.
Sighing I made my way towards the kitchen and found it empty Without wasting even a single second I rolled up the sleeves of my loose t-shirt and started the work for which I was here.
After about 20 minutes, the soup was ready. I poured it into a hot pot, aware that convincing him to have it might take some time. I had added a few herbs and spices, confident that this concoction would aid him with his cold.
A inhaled a deep breath and made myself ready to face him before knocking on the door of the study.
I waited for the permission from the other side of the door but no reply came.
I knocked again but the response was same Le no response
Bullheaded!
Frustration welled up inside me and for those moments I thought about leaving him on his own and having a good night, sleep because I was bone tired but the and the words of grandma came into my head. I have promised her that I will take care of him. I don’t want to disappoint her.
Suppressing my fatigue and setting aside my ego, I cautiously pushed open the door to find him engrossed in his work on the computer.
“May I come in?” I asked politely.
“NO!” came a straightforward and cold reply. His tone was enough to send a chill down my spine.
I gave him a deathly stare, secretly wishing that my glares could somehow burn him. Unfortunately, they had no e didn’t even bother to look up at me.
Amidst his work, he sniffed and sneezed once again. My eyes flicked to the air conditioner, which was on.
Is he crazy or what?
It seems like he is punishing himself. But why?
I waited for a few minute at the door for him to think about his word and allow me inside but he didn’t. He was busy on his computer, his work, his bae, his love of life!
“Do you have any problem with your hearing organ?” he asked in a rude tone, eyes still fixed on the screen.
“Yes,” I replied, injecting a hint of sarcasm into my response.
His jaw twitched, clearly not amused by my attempt at humor. “Go see a good doctor,” he muttered.
“My boss hasn’t paid me yet,” I retorted.
His jaw clenched once again, a sign that my comeback hit a nerve.
“Why are you here?” he finally asked, looking up and removing his spectacles.
“To give you this, I stated, pointing at the steaming bowl of soup in my hand.
“I don’t want anything or anyone!” he snapped back.

His eyes went back to his computer screen and my eyes narrowed at him. He is a ungrateful bastard. I would have gladly had the soup if even my enemy would have made it for me. He doesn’t know how to appreciate the efforts of others.
“Just leave me alone,” his words were stern, sensing that I hadn’t budged from my place.
“I won’t!” I stated firmly, defiantly taking a seat in the vacant chair beside him.
“What do you exactly want?” Irritation marked his tone, and now his full attention was on me.
“I want you to stop working at this odd hour, have this soup, and rest,” I responded, straightforward about my intentions.
“And why would I listen to you?” He raised his eyebrows. “You are not my wife. His words came out bitter.
His tone sounded somewhat like I used with him an hour ago, in the car.
“Yes, but I am a human with a heart who has sympathy…
“Oh, please He interrupted before I could even complete myself “The least think that I want from you is sympathy.”
His dismissive tone left me exasperated. I sighed, realizing that breaking through his stubbornness was going to be an uphill battle.

A silence followed my question. His eyes flashed vulnerability and a desire of something which I can’t point out. He blinked and looked away.
He again busied himself with the work, ignoring my presence as if I don’t even exist. The only sound that could be heard was that of the keyboard as he typed away something.
am sorry, Luciano.” I mumbled, breaking the silence.
“Miss Harper, just leave, he commanded with a tone that typically made his employees tremble in their shoes.
“Luciano…” My hand reached out and gently rested on the back of his palm.
His body froze as I touched him by my own, for the first time. He stopped typing. My touch had an ef didn’t look my way.
My eyes widened in realization when I pressed my palm against his and felt the warmth emanating from are burning.” the words tumbled out of my mouth.
He withdrew his hand sharply, and his head snapped towards me. His eyes were bloodshot, and his nose show irritation.
“Stop caring about me. You’re my fake wife. You’ll leave soon. I don’t want to be dependent on you,” he spat venom
The way he was talking to me even after caring about him makes me want to leave this room. But something inside m me at my place. I can’t move to leave in alone, not at least in the situation.
“If you
don’t want to be dependent on me or anyone else than take care of yourself.” I said in a soft tone, despite the way h talked to me.
His eyes softened a bit as they moved around my face. He blinked when I pushed the soup in front of me.
“If this is what it will take you to leave me alone”

He grabbed the bowl and gulped down the soup in one go. The soul was hot and it was meant to be taken slowly, spoon by spoon. I am sure it burnt his throat but he didn’t show it on his face.
He placed the bowl in the tray before going back to his work. The soup will help him with the cold only if he take proper rest. And now when his body is burning with fever, he must rest.
“Leave, Ms Harper. I need to do a lot of work.” He said.
It is hurting every time he is calling me Ms. Harper. In the last month I have gotten used to listening to Vanessa from his
mouth.
“Work without turning on the computer.” I asked, crossing my arms to my chest and leaning back on the chair.
His eyes flicked to me in surprise. I noticed that the computer was off, the minute I walked inside. He was just pretending to be busy with his work to ignore me and my presence.
I noticed a hue of red spread on his checks as he realized that he has been caught.
He gulped and stood up immediately. Ignoring my gaze on him, he walked out of the study, covering the distance towards the door in three to four steps.
A small smile made it’s way to my lips. I got successful in my task. He is a bit rude and bullheaded but slowly I am learning how to deal with him.

As I walked out of the study I found him lying on the bed with his back facing me. I could hear him sniffing, His body was burning when I touched him. I am sure he won’t take medicine if I give to him. I would have to do something else for him
I again went to the kitchen to bring the required things. Now this is again going to be a challenging task for me to make him agree for this.
God, help me.
