Chapter 16
Cynthia glared at her, still shocked at her guts,
“Wrench!” She squeals like a kid, attacking Sydney by the hair,
“I’d kill you today, ” dragging her hair, Sydney winched in pain, holding onto her roots,
She immediately pushed her off herself,
“You do what to get beaten up, don’t you!?” Almost throwing a punch at her but she instead held herself,
The receding walking steps of a familiar man resonated with her hearing, she turned to see Paxton, looking quiet,
“Paxton, she…?” He held out his palm to silence her, looked at Sydney as she immediately hid her face in embarrassment, then silently walked away
“Paxton!” Cynthia ran after him, standing there looking like a messed up kid, Sydney scoffed,
” you better let him be.” Walked away heading for the bathroom,
“Damnit!” She cursed at Cynthia as she saw herself in the mirror,
“Why can’t she just stay away from me and not bother me,” she hissed, bringing her comb out of her bag,This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org: ©.
“Great to have an incompetent boss, who only seems to be insensible in sensible situations.” She grunts, her hair was done, and she packed it into the low bun it was before,
“How about you make him sensible,” her subconscious mind told her,
“What’s the worst he could threaten me with if not firing me,” she told herself adjusting her shirt and skirt.
“Well, someone has got to talk and I will do the talking! He must have a reason to hate me this much when this is literally the first time I was seeing him at the clubhouse, even though she did mistake him him for Jaxton she wondered what she did for her presence to annoy him this much?” She blabbed about almost nothing before storming to his office,
Getting to the door, she paused,
“Am I supposed to knock? She asked herself,
“Maybe not” she kicked the door open and walked in,
He gently raised his head to her As if he had been expecting her,
“What insolence” he murmured to himself, he looked up at her gaze,
“What is it again that you want?” H asked, simply.
“I am done!” She affirmed,
“I don’t understand. Done with what? Life or work?” He asked, her eyes widened.
“None, I’m done with taking your shitting attitude, because it stinks” he shot her a glare,
“Yes, it stinks. From the first day I walked through those doors you simply hated me like you has seen me before when this is the first work relationship we’d ever had. And you know what I found out about you?” He turned to her curious to know,
“You are heartless and very much deceitful. Am very sure you sent Cynthia to me and made her do all these, well, for your information, just know your plan with Cynthia won’t work” she still breathing, it felt like she had poured out everything she really wanted to say.
“Are you done?” He inquired, not touched by her confession,
“How cold-hearted,” she said to herself..”Yes, I’m done”
” You can quit if you are already tired.” He replied simply, without batting an eye. It felt like a blow to her face, she hated to admit it, but he was right,
“If she was tired of everything, she could just solve it by quitting the Job. After all, Paxton didn’t force her into applying for the position in the first place” she thought deeply,
“Why are you suddenly quiet? If you want to leave, go to Miss Dana, give her your resignation letter for my signature, and then the problem is solved?” He was the real devil and knows how to manipulate his words into a hurtful arrow to pierce one’s heart.
“I don’t want to?” Her glimpse turned glower, and could as well as strangle him.
“It’s not as simple as you put it. I earn this position with my sweats so I’ll see to it that I work off my sweat!” She stated,
“Why? Don’t I disgust or annoy you? She narrowed her eyes as he began to honey his words,
He stridently replied,” You do not think before you act, huh?” Sydney went mute.
She wasn’t ready to quit she can’t quit. Her rent was about to expire, she was about to be homeless and her past work, even though it paid way, it was not decent enough to keep as a job
He went on saying,” I think you need to gather your facts together before barging into my office claiming what you think is right.”
Her hands clenched, he has a good way of turning their every argument in his favor.
“I don’t think, I know so” she stood affirmative.
“What do you want me to think of a girl who calls me by my brother’s name the first time we meet and embarrasses me in public then I find out the next day she’s my newly employed marketer? I just hope your hands are clean as you oppose.” Shaken a bit by his words she scowls,
“I have made my stands now to tell you that I am not leaving, keep trying, maybe one day you’d hit the right button”/she turned to leave,
” oh sure I will,” he answered stopping her tracks, he smirked.
“I definitely will,” he arched his brows, looking at him she simply shook her head and exited his office.
