That morning, Jaxton got dressed as soon as he could into his White suit worth over ten thousand dollars. He had to present himself well to the stakeholders as the next CEO of the company in place of his father.
He was so sure that his brother Paxton was unaware of whatever was around and he was going to take him unaware.
A dark smile hovered on his face as he thought about taking over the company. “I can’t even imagine the look on his face with it would be announced to him,” he thought in his head as a dark laughter escaped from his mouth.
“And once I get this position, I will be able to get Sydney back,” he said to himself
“I can’t wait to see that look on his face when Paxton would be eventually dismissed as the CEO.
When he got to the venue for the event, most of the stakeholders were already seated. A smile hovered on his face as he stared into their eyes.
His face warmed up with smiles as he stared at everyone present.
“Since I am already here, we should be quick,” He announced to everyone in the hall with a dark smile hanging on his face.
But then, the door parted open and to his greatest surprise, it was Paxton.
“What is he doing here?” Jaxton yelled in his head, staring right into his eyes. He could feel his heart beating hard against his chest as though it was going to burst through and cold shivers ran down his spine.
He knew that nobody was going to vote for him there. His brother Paxton was going to be retained.
“No, I can’t let this happen,” Jaxton yelled in his head already shivering hard with fear so hard that he could hardly balance his legs on the floor.
Then, Paxton walked towards him and dragged closer to him, shooting a smirk at him. “Surprise to see me?” He growled at his twin brother with so much hate and disgust in his voice.
“What..” Jaxton tried to say but Paxton would not give him breathing space to even finish his statement.
“Betrayer,” he growled at him and pulled away. He stared at the stalker holders who knew him to run the business and not Jaxton.
He gave all of them a warm address about how the company was doing thus far while Jaxton just watched him, confused by his ruined plans. “Since the house is complete now, I don’t we begin the voting exercise to see who becomes the next CEO,” he announced in the hall and everyone broke into a round of applause.
“Hope you came prepared to cause you are leaving this company for sure,” he growled at him.
The voting exercise began and Jaxton watched with shivering feet. “There is absolutely nobody that is going to vote for me and Paxton is going to kick me out of the company,” he thought in his head.
Just as Jaxton had predicted, Paxton won the votes and remain the CEO. Jaxton could feel his heart pounding hard against his chest as though it was going to burst through.
“What should I do know?” He thought in his head. He could not look into the face of his twin brother and he crashed on a chair placing his head on his palm.
But then, he felt a slight tap on his shoulder and when he looked up, it was Paxton. He shivered at the sight of him and Paxton shot a frown at him. “Meet me at my office,” he announced and walked away.
Jaxton was scared. “What does he want to discuss with me now,” he whispered to himself.
He wish he didn’t go but he just had to, this was the meeting that was going to determine his fate.
When he got to the door, he tapped slightly with his head bowed. “Come in,” Paxton’s voice sprang up from inside.
Jaxton walked inside slowly and sat on seat before Paxton, trying hard not to keep eye contact with his brother for the first time in his life. This time, he noticed that Paxton was not frowning, rather he was sober.
“Why did you do that to me when you knew that we are brothers,” Paxton inquired with tears in his eyes.
Jaxton rose his head and stared at him. He could no longer restrain the tears that had formed in his eyes and he let them out.
“There is no reason for what I did brother, I only allowed hatred to get the better part of me,” Jaxton replied whipping off his tears. “Please forgive me, brother, don’t only this mistake of mine shatter our long-time relationship,” he pleaded further.
“Let’s keep ruling the business just as we had always done,” he returned but he wasn’t expecting a positive answer from Paxton, he had done more than enough already and didn’t deserve forgiveness.
But Paxton didn’t only give him a positive answer, he did something that shocked him to his bones.
Paxton came over to him and hugged him tightly. “All I ever wanted was to see that brother I know once again,” he returned. “I already forgave you,” he added genuinely.
Jaxton was happy that they finally made up and he could not contain his joy. “Thank you brother for forgiving me, I can never have a kind heart like yours,” he returned.
“Thanks, brother,” Paxton replied
While Jaxton waited for his brother to be done with what he was doing so that they will return home together, he saw a photo swept under the office desk.
It was Sidney’s photo with a broad smile hanging on her face. He stared at the photo and back at Paxton who wasn’t even looking.
He could tell that he missed her and wish she was back to him. “Should I tell him that I had already found her?” He thought In his head.
But he was afraid, he just made up with his brother and didn’t want to bring anything in that going to make their relationship go sour again.
“Should I or should I not?” He kept contemplating in his head.
