Chapter 51 What a Jerk
Opening his palm and then clenching it again, Louis walked up to the table, poured himself a glass of red wine, and took a sip.
His mind was blank for a moment, and he couldn't figure out what kind of woman Blanche really was.
An extremely ugly face and a beautiful face kept appearing in his mind alternately.
Clap... Clap... Clap...
Intermittent applause came from behind as Henry walked in with one hand in his pocket.
"You deserve to be the most outstanding son of the Herbart family. The woman you married is out of the ordinary, just like you. She played an amazing game tonight and gained quite a bit of attention."
Louis pursed his perfect lips. He knew that Henry was implying that Blanche was cunning, intentionally pretending to be ugly and then proving herself to be a beauty, causing a sensation.
"I can see that you're quite interested in Blanche. Could it be that Miss Yonng is not enough for you?"
Henry shook his head. "You've got it wrong. It's not me being interested in Blanche, but Blanche being interested in me. Compared to you, she seemed to be more interested in me."
"I can tell. She does seem to have a strong interest in creatures like you. When I saw her greeting you, it was like watching her play with our aloof mastiff at home. That's just how she is. The colder something appears, the more she wants to play with it." Louis swayed the wine glass in his hand and raised his eyebrows lightly.
Anger brewed in Henry's eyes as Louis mocked him for being a dog.
Rat-a-tat...
Blanche ran back. After she ran out, she realized that she had forgotten her bag and came back to get it.
Seeing Henry in the room, Blanche slowed down and became puzzled. As she approached the door, she heard them discussing... a mastiff?
The two of them stood opposite and looked hostile, but were they discussing a mastiff?
Louis turned his head slightly and looked at Blanche at the door.
Blanche was startled by his cold gaze and walked in with her head held high.
"I came back to get my bag." From NôvelDrama.Org.
"I didn't expect that Blanche is the most interested in dogs at home. I'm just curious. Is it a male or female dog?"
Blanche's hand, holding her bag, paused. Weren't they discussing a mastiff just now? Why were they talking about dogs now? And when did she become interested in dogs?
Blanche turned her eyes and looked at Henry, who had a faint smile on his face. She had a bad feeling about this.
Henry raised the corner of his mouth, turned around, and left with a meaningful smile on his face.
Blanche shook her head, looking at Louis.
"What were you talking about? Male dog, female dog? We don't have any dogs at home, do we?"
Louis felt suffocated by Blanche's serious question. He pursed his lips and didn't answer, but his gaze shifted downward.
After admiring Blanche's perfect figure, Louis's eyes sparkled. He hadn't carefully observed Blanche's new outfit when he came in earlier.
She was wearing a soft white dress, her hair tied up, with a few strands of hair lightly falling on her forehead and slender neck. Her snow-like skin matched her soft red lips, making her even more enchanting.
Realizing that he had been staring at her for too long, Louis shifted his gaze away.
However, Blanche suddenly gritted her teeth and slapped the table loudly, annoyed.
"What dog? He was just insulting me, saying that I'm in heat. He even used dogs to mock me. It's outrageous!"
The atmosphere became awkward for a few seconds.
Louis rarely felt guilty and changed the subject.
"You're already grown up, but you forget things. How can you just casually leave your bag anywhere?"
Blanche raised her head and glanced at Louis impatiently. He was lecturing her. Humph, maybe they also used the mastiff to mock her earlier.
Taking her bag, Blanche frowned and turned to leave.
Louis grabbed her slender wrist. Blanche was caught off guard, and he pulled her into his strong chest.
His chest was so firm and Blanche immediately bounced back as if she had touched a scorching hot stone.
Blanche's intense reaction made Louis feel displeased.
"Explain why you intentionally pretended to be ugly."
Louis was dissatisfied, so he exerted a bit of force on Blanche's wrist.
"It hurts."
Blanche gasped in pain, but she was defiant. Why should she explain? Whether she pretended to be ugly or not was her freedom.
Besides, if she really explained and said that she was afraid he would fall in love with her, he might kill her.
But looking at Louis's intense gaze, she had no choice but to explain.
"It's simple. I'm so beautiful. If I didn't intentionally pretend to be ugly, all men would come after me. How could I handle that?" Blanche raised her head and looked proud.
A trace of contempt flashed across Louis's eyes.
"Is that the only reason?"
Then, with a deep and intense gaze, Louis stared at Blanche as if he was trying to see through her.
His annoying look made Blanche very uncomfortable, but she snorted.
"Yes, of course."
When Blanche spoke, her rosy lips parted and her eyes sparkled.
While others complained about not being pretty enough, she claimed that being too pretty brought her trouble. Only a fool would believe that, and Louis disagreed.
Blanche replaced Nicole and married him, which was enough to show that she was capable and scheming.
"If you don't want to tell the truth, forget it now. Let's go."
"Where are we going?"
Louis grabbed Blanche's hand and strode towards the exit.
Blanche didn't want to walk together with Louis at all.
"Home? The banquet isn't over yet."
Louis stopped and turned around.
"That's right, but you've already hogged the limelight for the whole night. What's wrong? Do you still want to stay here and continue to show off?"
"I don't want to leave now. I want to stay and settle the score with the liar." Of course, Blanche referred to Cathy as the liar.
Cathy had plotted against her countless times tonight and pushed her into the water just now, and she hadn't gotten back at Cathy yet.
And she hated accumulating grudges. Now she couldn't wait to take revenge on Cathy.
"The liar?"
Louis repeated the two words with a frown and knew that Blanche was referring to Cathy.
However, Louis still pulled Blanche and walked towards the exit.
Blanche couldn't keep up and her hand was squeezed painfully. She yelled angrily in pain and refused to walk no matter what.
Louis stopped again and glanced at Blanche.
Blanche and Cathy had been scheming against each other. Even if they fought until dawn, there would be no clear winner.
But seeing Blanche's unwilling face, Louis sensed that she genuinely didn't want to leave with him.
Louis lifted their joined hands and shook them.
"You don't want to leave, huh? Then I'll give you a choice. If you act coquettishly towards me like you did when you came out of the water, I'll let you stay. You can go deal with whoever you want."
He finally understood that Blanche was heartless and had been making use of him. When she needed him, she called him sweetly, but when she didn't need him, she wished to stay far away from him and gave him disdainful glances from time to time.
He had never seen such a materialistic woman before.
Act coquettishly?
That was impossible.
Blanche felt very uncomfortable. Thinking about her pretentious posture by the pool, she felt a cramp in her stomach.
She felt that she had suffered a great loss. Acting coquettishly there didn't bring her any benefits, and Cathy didn't receive any punishment.
Blanche seemed to have figured it out and shook her head.
"Forget it. I'll leave with you today and teach her a lesson next time."
Louis couldn't help but feel frustrated. Look, this woman was indeed using him, and his heart even softened stupidly at that time.
