Chapter 584
Chapter 584
Caroline hooked her arms around Kirk’s waist. “Don’t worry. I’ll always come back. I would come back home even if it rained daggers.”
Kirk loosened his arms around her slightly. Staring at her dazzling eyes, he smiled back at her and said, “Let’s go back in.” Material © NôvelDrama.Org.
“Okay,” she replied, letting him carry her into the house.
“Kirk.”
“Yeah?”
“Do you remember things that happened when you were young?”
After placing her down on a chair, Kirk knelt and helped her take off her shoes.
“When I was young?”
He glanced up at her. “How young?”
“When you were about five years old.”
“Yes, I do.”
Caroline’s eyes lit up at his words. “What were you doing at that time?”
Remembering how he started following his father around to run business errands, Kirk couldn’t help but laugh.
“Nothing special. I went to kindergarten and played with my friends. Sometimes, I would play with my father too.”
Propping up her chin in her arm, Caroline said, “I’m so jealous of you… I can’t remember what
happened when I was that age.
“Don’t you find it strange that I can only remember the things that I did when I was seven or eight
years old but not when I was five years old?”
“It’s like…”
She continued, “It’s like someone sliced through my memories and took away all the ones that I
Kirk gently massaged her head as he listened to her speak.
“Maybe it’s because your brain was too tiny when you were small, so you couldn’t remember anything that happened before that.”
Smiling, Caroline hooked her arms around his neck. “Will you forget me when you turn old and your brain becomes tiny?”
“Nope.” Kirk carried her in his arms once again and headed to the bedroom.
“How are you so sure about that? There are lots of elderly people who get Alzheimer’s these days. What if-”
“There’s no ‘what if‘.” Kirk pressed his lips against hers, his breath fanning her cheeks.
“Because my heart remembers you. It has nothing to do with my brain.”
Caroline blinked at his words. They were like a feather that was gently and softly caressing her heart.
She then hooked one leg around his waist. “Really?”
“Yes. Come into my heart if you don’t believe me.”
Caroline blushed. “Nonsense!”
Despite that, her hand moved along with Kirk’s to lift up his shirt.
When her hand was on his chest, where his heart was, he chuckled and leaned over to bite her lips gently. “Can you see it now?”
Caroline blushed further, her fingers trembling slightly where she was touching him. “No,” she said.
“Well, then, you have to be more serious.” His voice was gruff, and his Adam’s apple moved in time with his speech.
Her eyes gradually lost focus, as if she were a fish breaking through the surface of the water.
The warmth she felt made her feel like she was water vaporizing into steam, yet she yearned for it. What ensued from the feeling was a time of endless pleasure.
When she cooled down much later, she sprawled on the bed, unwilling to move a single muscle. She could feel that her throat was hoarse by now.
“Water…” She groaned, and Kirk got up to get her some water.
Just then, her phone, which was at the edge of the bed, started to ring.
She glanced at the screen to see that the caller was Marietta. Hastily, she answered the call.
Marietta’s excited voice came from the other end of the line. “Carrie, you’re truly my lucky mascot! I just got a call from the detective. He had news about my daughter!”
