Chapter 15
Rose looked at Beatrice from head to toe. The memory of Sophia telling her how Beatrice had planned her mother's accident flooded into her head. Rose gritted her teeth, imagining many different ways she could easily kill Beatrice on the spot.
If she remembered correctly, the moment she started to fully fall for these people's lies was when she arrived back, which was supposed to be a month's time. Technically, she hadn't gotten too close yet with Beatrice and listened to all the bullshit of lies she would cook for
her in the future.
'It wouldn't be fun to reveal my cards now. Let's just play along and have fun messing with slowly. Just like a poker game, I will keep folding until I call the game.' Rose smirked wickedly in her mind.
"Oh, Stepmother. You've arrived?" Rose flashed Beatrice a smile as she looked at her. She knew Beatrice was shocked when she saw her glare but decided to confuse her.
Beatrice blinked her eyes when she saw Rose's smile. It was a completely different expression from the cold glare she saw on Rose's face. 'I might just be overthinking it.' she thought to herself and recomposed herself.
"Roseline, how come you didn't tell us that you will be arriving. We could have prepared something." Beatrice continued to speak like she hadn't just been glared at, a few seconds ago.
Her tone will make a stranger think that she is speaking to someone she knows well, when she only knew Rose for two months before William sent her out of the country to study.
"
"Why did you sound so unhappy to see me, stepmother?" Rose asked with a pained expression on her face as she looked at Beatrice. She made it look as if Beatrice was scolding her for coming back home.
Beatirce was surprised when the hurtful expression on Rose's face, she couldn't help but blink her eyes in confusion. "W-what are you talking about Roseline? Of course I'm happy to see you. I'm just so surprised by your sudden arrival, it was not something I was prepared for. Besides I thought you would be arriving in a month's time, why did you come home now unannounced?" She quickly explained herself to Rose so that she wouldn't misunderstand her.
Rose secretly smirked, enjoying the flustered expression on Beatrice's face. 'You wouldn't be prepared for what i'm going to do next to you and this damned family.' She thought to herself.
"I know I was supposed to arrive in a month's time, but I changed my mind. I decided to arrive earlier as a surprise for everyone, I didn't know that you wouldn't be surprised like I expected you to." Rose said the last part in a low voice and bowed her head like she had something wrong.
"Rose, you haven't done anything wrong. It's good that you came earlier and your surprise visit worked. If not I wouldn't have been this shocked to see you." Beatrice replied again, for some reason she felt like Rose was trying to make it seem like she was angry at her arrival.
'What is dumb brat up to?' Beatrice thought to herself as she stared at Rose.
"I'm glad if that is the case then." Rose said as she stood up from the chair, she walked into her bedroom and scrolled past where Beatrice was standing and headed to the door.
Beatrice, who thought Rose was coming to meet her, was surprised when she walked past her. She couldn't help but turn around to see where she was and she narrowed her eyes when she saw Rose reaching the door and opening it.
"Where are you going-" Beatrice was unable to complete her words when Rose interrupted her.
"Stepmother, if you don't mind. I have a really long and tiring day and I would like to rest early today." Rose gestured to Beatrice to leave with her hand.
Beatrice could not count how many times she had been shocked in just a matter of minutes she had encountered Rose. The girl who was acting coquettishly a few seconds ago was now replaced with a girl who had an unreadable expression on her face. "A-are you saying that i should take my leave already?" Beatrice couldn't help but ask despite knowing that was what Rose was saying.
"Yes, I am. After all, this is my room and you were the one that came in." Rose calmly replied, still holding the door open.
Beatrice was dazed by Rose's responses, she wasn't expecting her reply like that. The rose that she knew for two months before she was sent overseas was not this confident and the aura she emitted was very different. All text © NôvelD(r)a'ma.Org.
"You're right, I was being unreasonable for a second because I was too happy to see you. I should give you some time to relax after that long and tiring flight." Beatrice regained herself back and smiled gently at Rose before making her way to the door. Rose glanced down and saw how Beatrice was clenching her dress tightly. It was obvious that she was aggravated by what Rose said. Her lips curled up in a small smile which quickly disappeared as she thought to tease and piss Beatrice the more. "I hope stepmother isn't angry? I'd Love to spend more time chatting with you but I'm too tired now." Rose asked just after Beatrice took one step out of her bedroom.
"Of course not, I wouldn't be mad at you. You need to rest well, I will have the chef prepare something delicious for you for dinner." Beatrice forced a smile on her face as she looked at Rose who also smiled back at her like she hadn't done anything wrong. 'You're doing a good job hiding your anger. However, I wonder how long you're going to keep holding back that anger of yours.' Rose raised an eyebrow at Beatrice who was oblivious to what Rose was thinking.
"In that case, I will get some rest now." Rose said, flashing another smile at Beatrice before closing the door.
