Chapter 31
Chapter 31
31 Lies
Lucas POV
“Get up and get dressed, we have guests to greet.” Iris manages to pick her head up off the floor to look at me. She attempts to stand but can’t. “You really are pathetic, just like Conrad” I say before I wave my hand in her direction. I give her enough healing so that she can get to her feet. I grab a dress and throw it at her. “Hurry up” I say and she slips the dress over her head. “You will wait inside the mansion until I summon you.” “Who” she starts to ask but stops herself.
I step in front of her. “You will pay for your question later.” She winces at my words and I smile. I take her wrist and lead her down to the foyer. “Stay here and don’t move until I tell you to pet.” She nods and I turn walking out onto the steps. Conrad’s coven has been moved to my land and stand before me. Everyone is quiet waiting for me to speak. I can see the fear in their eyes, which is exactly what I want in this moment.
“As you all know, your coven leader is dead.” “He was weak and failed to protect you or himself.” I see them looking at each other with concern on their faces. “He promised me his daughter and he did not deliver on his promise.” “You would still be living in peace in your coven had he did what he was supposed to do.” I turn toward the door. “Come to me pet” I say and the door opens slowly. Iris comes out with her head down and stands behind me.
“Conrad gave me his beloved as a replacement for the beloved that Iris helped escape.” “She will continue to be punished until I have what I’m owed.” I hear an audible gasp travel through the crowd.
“I do not accept excuses and now that you are part of this coven, you will follow my orders or you will die just as Conrad did.” “Death will not be quick either so don’t disappoint me.” “Do you all understand?” There is silence and that just pisses me off. I turn slapping Iris across the face and knocking her to the ground. “I will ask you again, do you understand me?”
“Yes sir” they say in unison. “Good, I will be meeting with each of you to discuss your new roles in this coven.” “You’re all dismissed.” I turn and Iris has managed to get to her feet. I take her arm and lead her inside. “That was for your question earlier, but it helped me get my point across with the new coven members too.” “You don’t ever question me again.” “Yes sir” she says. My mother walks in with Pheobe on her heels. “Lucas, I would like to speak with you for a moment alone.” “Pheobe take Iris to Lucas’s room now”, my mother says with finality.
I know my sister has been telling my mother about her punishment from earlier, based on the fact her eyes won’t meet mine. I squeeze my fists but I don’t argue with my mother. “Remember what I told you earlier, Pheobe, about following orders.” She nods and takes Iris toward the stairs.
My mother turns heading toward my office. I take my seat once were inside, and she takes the chair across from me. “Lucas, I could care less about that b***h or what you do to her but you will not threaten your sister again.” I take a deep breath before I answer my mother. “Did she tell you why I threatened her mother?” “She did and I don’t care.” “You know your sister is soft compared to you and I.” “You will not threaten her, am I clear.”
“Yes mother, I will not threaten her but she needs to respect my rules.” “Agreed and I have told her as such.” “Then we should have no further issues.” My mother stands and comes around the desk to hug me. “Your father would be very proud of the leader and black magic warlock you have become, just as I am.” She pulls back “now find Lilth so you can use her powers to become even stronger.” I smile “I’m working on it mother.” “I will not rest until she is mine.”
Pheobe POV
I know I’m going to pay for using my mother against him, but I will deal with whatever punishment I have to in order to stop Lucas from hurting Iris. We reach the top of the stairs and again Iris can barely make it. I turn her toward me and place my head against hers. I chant for a few seconds before I lift my head looking into her eyes.
“Pheobe, you are going to get in trouble again for helping me.” “I don’t want to see you hurt.” “I appreciate your concern but watching him do this to you is making me sick.” “You know your daughter is special and strong, she could help you get out of this pl ace.” “No, I don’t want him anywhere near her.” “He wants her power and that can never happen.”
“Fine, I’m getting you out of here and taking you to her.” “I have never fit in this coven to begin with and honestly I will be better off far from Lucas.” “Pheobe your brother doesn’t care if you are his sister, he will kill you for defying him.” We head down the hall but I don’t lead her back to Lucas’s room. I lead her to mine. Once we are inside, I grab a bag that I have already packed. We won’t have long to get out of the coven territory before they start looking for us. I turn to Iris, “how do you feel after my healing?” “It’s the best I’ve felt since I’ve been here.” “Good I need you to do everything I tell you to.” She nods, “stay here I will be right back.”
I rush down the hall and into Lucas’s room. Once I’m in the room that he uses for Iris, I begin to chant. The spell only takes a moment before I head back to my room. This spell will buy us a few more minutes before he realizes we are gone. “Where did you go?”
“I’ll tell you once we are free of this place.” I wrap my arm around her wa!st and teleport us to the clearing. I don’t have the strength to unbind her powers, so I’m going to just have to cloak us both. Once the cloak is in place we start to move toward the border. We stop and I speak softly to Iris.
“Once we break the territory line, he is going to feel it, so we will need to teleport someplace quickly.” “The human city, that is where Lily and John would go.” “I told them to avoid other super naturals.” “You have known all this time and you endured all this t0rture without telling him.” She touches my face “real mother’s will endure anything for their children to be safe.” I can feel unshed tears in my eyes but I don’t have time for self-pity or sorrow for Iris. I take her hand and we step through the coven cloak.
Lucas POV
After I’m done speaking to my mother, I really need to blow off some steam. I head to my room and look in on Iris. She is curled in a ball lying on the bed covered in a blanket that I’m sure my sister so kindly gave her. I will never understand that girl. I head to the base of her bed. “Come here pet, I need that mouth.” I begin to unb.utton my pants but she never moves.
“Don’t make me repeat myself or you will wish you didn’t.” She still doesn’t move and I go to the side of the bed she is facing. I am ready to lose it. It’s not Iris but an illusion. That’s when I feel it, the cloak being breached. I immediately alert the guards to start searching for that b**ch and my fvcking sister. Owned by NôvelDrama.Org.
Neal POV
“You’re a fvcking traitor and, of course, he would send his Beta.” “Do you even know who you just attacked on his orders?” He looks at Lincoln standing next to me. I point to him “that is what a true Alpha looks like.” “Not one who kills his own brother, fvcks his sister-in-law, and sends his pack’s wolves to attack the Elders of all Wolves.” I see fear flash across his face at my words. “What he didn’t tell you that you were attacking the Elders.”
“You’re a liar, you are trying to turn me against my Alpha.” “I’m loyal unlike you who is helping this man keep his Luna from him.” I laugh “you’re a sheep following a despicable man who only cares about himself and what he wants.” “He has fed you lies and promised you a rank to keep you loyal and doing his bidding.” “Elder Thomas would not have us attack his fellow Elders.” “That’s where your wrong Walker” Lincoln says. “Elder Thomas has chosen his side and it is not by the Elders” Lincoln says.
Lincoln POV
“You and these men killed an Elder wolf on the orders of Atlas and Thomas.” “I can tell you that claiming you didn’t know who they were is not going to save you from your fate.” “The Elders want justice for their fallen Elder.” “Your punishment will be determined by them not us.” I see the moment
his realizes how he has, been used and betrayed. He sits on a cot inside the cell. “I swear to you he didn’t tell us who they were.” “We were called into Atlas’s office.”
“Thomas was there and he told us that you had killed Amelia’s parents.” “He said that you were bringing in wolves to destroy our pack so that he could never get Amelia back.” “He said that you had even thrown Max out when he tried to rescue Amelia from you.” “Amelia is my mate and Luna by her choice.” “The moon goddess chose me for her because of Atlas’ evil actions.” “They have told you nothing but lies.” “I’m sorry, I really believed that Atlas was telling us the truth.” “I know that it doesn’t mean much now but I would never help anyone harm and innocent.” I nod and I do believe him.
We head from the cells and I can see the distress on Neal’s face. I grab his arm. “I will speak to the Elders about the warriors.” “They may have been involved in the attack but they did not kill Elder Brandon directly.” “Hopefully they will show mercy with this knowledge.” “Thank you, Lincoln.” “I know what they did was stupid but they aren’t bad men.” I nod and head for the stairs. I’m just at the top when I feel a pain like I have never felt in my life. I go down onto my knees.
Neal rushes to me, “Lincoln, what’s wrong?” “Something is wrong with Amelia, she is in pain.” Talon is at the surface with this feeling of pain. I can feel his worry that our mate is in danger.
The pain lessens and I get to my feet. I rush to our room with Neal on my heels. I throw open the door and Amelia isn’t in our room. I’m about to lose my mind. I link but I can’t reach her. I growl “where the fvck is she.” The pain hits again and I fall to my knees feeling helpless.
I look up and Neal is getting a link. He looks down with fear on his face. “Lincoln, we need to get to the hospital now.” I don’t even let him explain why before I take off out of the pack house toward the hospital. The whole way there I say a prayer to the goddess that Amelia and our pup are alright.
