Chapter 52
Chapter 52
Jerome was on the brink of losing his temper.
“If it weren’t for your status as the Miller’s mistress, do you think I’d waste my
time with your affairs?”
It was just as Mikayla had expected.
That glint of concern in his eyes when he ascended the stairs must’ve come
from the exact place of reasoning.
Mikayla was relieved she didn’t let her emotions sway her as she used to.
Otherwise, she’d once again be at Jerome’s mercy.
Mikayla fired back, “If it’s none of my concern, then sign the divorce agreement
already. I’ve warned you. You’ll regret not signing it!”
Jerome faltered and looked at Mikayla. His expression turned grim, and he
abruptly slammed on the brake..
Mikayla grabbed her bag and swiftly exited the car without a word from him.
However, Jerome followed suit. He clasped her hand with a stern expression. Despite Mikayla’s protests, he shoved her into the driver’s seat and secured
her seatbelt.
“Head straight to Dragoncrest Villa. My car has a tracker. If you continue to
rebel, I’ll bring Grandpa here to talk some sense into you!”
With that being said, Jerome shut the car door forcefully.
Mikayla was rendered speechless.
She thought Jerome was such a loony.
Jerome’s expression did not waver. So Mikayla swiftly pressed down on the
accelerator.
Upon returning to Dragoncrest Villa, Mikayla tossed her bag away and slumped
onto the couch.
Her intuition had failed her.
Deep down, she’d always believed that Taylor’s casual and idle persona was a facade. Unfortunately, reality shattered that perception.
While Mikayla’s collaboration with Taylor remained in the air, she debated
whether to disclose Johnny’s situation to Betty.
Being both women, Mikayla wished to confide in Betty immediately.
However, it was a matter between a married couple. Having only met Betty once, Mikayla was unsure if her words would be convincing. Besides, who knows if Betty was aware of Johnny’s
actions? Perhaps she willingly chose to
turn a blind eye.
Mikayla attempted to contact Celeste for her opinion, only to remember she had already left for Lumina.
Feeling her head aching, Mikayla set her phone down.
Jerome had arrived at the investment bank office of Bernhal Enterprise.
“Having a founder with misconduct poses a significant risk for our future IPOs. Do you lack such a basic understanding?” Jerome addressed in a stern tone.
Kylie and a few executives were seated around a conference table. They
displayed nervous expressions.
“Mr. Miller, managing Johnny’s trouble was my decision. Please don’t blame
them.”
Kylie stepped in and assumed responsibility. The few executives in the room
secretly felt relieved. It earned Kylie some gratitude from the executives.
“I’ll promise you all a reasonable explanation.”
With that being said, Kylie signaled to the few executives to leave the room ast she poured a glass of water for Jerome.
“You’ve been busy. Here’s some water.”
Kylie asked, “How’s Mrs. Miller doing? Is she alright?”
Jerome’s anger flared at the mention of Mikayla. He accepted the water and
redirected the conversation.
“Tell me about Johnny’s situation.”
“I’m sorry, I acted on my accord,” Kylie apologized sincerely.
“I intended to wait for you to make the decision. Nevertheless, Johnny claimed he was framed. Someone deliberately took advantage of him while he was intoxicated and placed a girl in his room. Given the current focus on Ansoft, it’s not impossible for someone to plot against him.”
Kylie continued, “If we didn’t take action, other venture capital firms or event competing banks might have stepped in. However, Johnny reached out to us
first. He was confident in our abilities. Material © NôvelDrama.Org.
“He even made us a promise. If we resolve this issue for him, he’ll sign with us immediately. He personally drafted this commitment letter.”
Kylie approached Jerome with the letter. She intended to sit next to him.
Before she could settle down, Jerome lifted his eyes and gazed at her.
