Chapter 621 You Still Have Me
Chapter 621 You Still Have Me
Maranda looked at Jean with great expectation in her eyes. Jean found herself in an impossible
situation with no way out. She felt herself give in and sighed within herself. Looking at Maranda, she
forced a smile on her face and nodded agreeing.
Maranda clapped her hands with delight and smiled through teary eyes.
When Jean returned home to the Qi Mansion, she paced the room back and forth, troubled by the
predicament that she had gotten herself into.
'Both events are happening around the same time. When Maranda and Ron get married next month,
Zed and I will be in the Imperial Capital with Zed's parents.
We can't just leave Grandpa Benjamin, father and mother and run back to H City to attend Maranda's
wedding.
But I have just promised Maranda that I would attend her wedding. I'm in a real dilemma!
Neither side can be offended and neither side can be refused!' Jean tried to come up with a satisfactory
solution in her head, but it was no use.
It was late in the afternoon and Jean was still no closer to an answer. By this stage, she had gotten
herself into quite a state with worry. She hadn't even noticed that Zed had come home.
Zed walked up to her and caressed her head. He could see that she was flustered. "What's wrong,
dear?"
"Zed, you're back!" Jean responded fretfully.
"What on earth has got you so worked up?" Zed asked as he playfully tapped her nose with his finger.
"I had tea with Maranda this afternoon. She told me that they had chosen their wedding date," Jean
exhaled loudly. "It's on the 20th of next month!" she said, dejected.
"On the 20th of next month?" repeated Zed as if in thought. "Is that what's worrying you so much?" Zed
smiled with calmness on his face.
"Yes! We have already made plans that we would go to the Imperial Capital and stay with your parents
for some time. But Maranda's wedding is also scheduled around the same time. I have been trying to
think of what to do all afternoon." Jean looked up at Zed, her eyebrows furrowed with worry. "What do
you think we should do?"
He had to chuckle when he saw her sweet face scrunched up like that. "That's not a problem, okay?
We can still go to the Imperial Capital after Maranda and Ron's wedding."
"Are you sure that would be all right?" Jean looked at Zed and asked with some doubt in her voice.
Zed comforted her with a gentle smile, "What's wrong with that? We will still go to the Imperial Capital.
We will just have to tell grandpa, mother and father to wait a few more days, that's all.
You can rest assured. As long as I call them and speak to them about it, it will all be fine."
Zed's words had reassured her and the worry on Jean's face slowly disappeared. However, there was
still a small problem that nagged at her. "But if we postpone our trip to the Imperial Capital, I'm afraid
our elders will be unhappy." She thought for a moment and looked up with a bright smile on her face.
"You tell them that we will stay with them for a few extra days this time to make up for it.
What do you think of that, Zed?"
Zed reached out and gently pinched her cheek.
"I'll do as you say. So are you in the mood to eat now, dear?
As soon as I came back, Zelda told me that she had called you several times but you didn't respond."
"I..."
Jean stuck her tongue out with embarrassment. "Maranda is my friend and I didn't want to disappoint
her so I was trying to think of a suitable solution..." she replied sheepishly. Zed smiled affectionately at
his wife. "No, I don't mean to blame you. But I hope no matter what happens in the future, you won't let
yourself get so worked up.
Remember, you still have me. I'll face the problems with you."
"Well, I will remember next time."
Jean smiled sweetly and then remembered that Zed mentioned something about food. "I'm really
hungry, honey. Let's go to dinner!"
"Okay."
Zed took her hand and together they went to the dining room. As they walked, he looked at her and
asked, "Has Moore come back yet?" "Um..." Jean smiled vaguely. "Maybe he won't be coming back.
I hope he spends the night with Avery and doesn't come back tonight. In that case, his relationship with
her would be..."
Jean said with a cheeky grin.
Zed looked at her and shook his head slightly. "Do you think Moore would do what you think?"
Jean stared at him with a hint of disappointment.
"Well, I know that he's a gentleman. But just let me hope for a moment that it may happen." Zed looked
at her amused and let out a small chuckle. "Well, let's just eat first!
We can talk about it after dinner."
He gently pulled out Jean's chair for her and waited for her to be seated before he joined her.
After stressing all day, Jean found that she was famished. She looked at Zed between mouthfuls of
food and asked, "Moore still hasn't come back yet. Do you think that something may have happened to
him?"
"Why would you think that? Try to relax, dear. Don't always think the worst, be more positive and think
of good things."
Zed reached out and gently rubbed her shoulder.
Jean smiled sheepishly and continued eating.
Zed watched her and thought of how much she had stressed herself today. He quietly sighed.
'It seems that pregnant women are really moody.
She was so anxious about attending Maranda's wedding and when I helped her find a simple solution,
she calmed down and was satisfied for only a short time.
Now she is starting to stress again thinking the worst, because Moore has not come back yet.'
At that moment the cell phone rang interrupting his thoughts. Zed absently took it out of his pocket and
glanced at the screen. He didn't recognize the phone number displayed, frowning, he immediately hung
up.
This was his personal phone number and only a few trusted friends knew it.
That phone number was unfamiliar to him. He wondered who it could have been.
Zed looked puzzled and a little tense.
The cell phone rang again. This time Zed didn't hesitate to answer it.
Zed listened intently to the voice on the phone, his face turned ashen. "Okay, I see...
I'll be right over," he said in a somber voice.
Jean sensed that something was wrong by the tone in his voice.
"Who was that?" she asked, looking up at Zed.
Zed lay the phone down on the table and looked at her with conflicted emotions. He was trying to piece
together and absorb the shocking news that he had just heard. "What happened?"
Jean saw that he was staring blankly at her, not saying a word. This made her feel uneasy. "Whatever
happened, you must tell me!" she said pleading with him. Content rights belong to NôvelDrama.Org.
Zed cleared his throat. "Adolf just called me and said that Moore is in the hospital." Jean's face
changed dramatically when she heard the news. She stood up and went to him.
"Moore is in hospital?" she asked nervously.
"What happened to him?" Seeing the anxious look on her face, Zed was reluctant to tell her the details
in fear of stressing her further. But he was more aware of the consequences of not telling her, so he
continued to tell her the truth.
'She will find out sooner or later anyway, ' he thought as he let out a deep sigh.
"He seems to have been in a fight.
But don't worry. They all suffered only superficial trauma. There's nothing seriously wrong with either
side,"
Zed added quickly to comfort her. "A fight? What the hell is going on? For what reason would Moore
have to fight with someone? He hasn't fully recovered yet. He wouldn't have even been strong enough
to defend himself.
Zed, let's go see him. I'm afraid he will..."
Jean was in a hurry to leave. She grabbed Zed's hand and headed for the door. "Hey, slow down." Zed
pulled back slightly and rested both of his hands on her shoulders, turning her to face him.
He gently cupped her face with both of his hands. "Moore really is okay." He then held her hand to
reassure her, "Adolf and the others were all there when it happened. They managed to pull them apart
before anyone got seriously hurt."
Jean's face softened for a moment and then her eyebrows furrowed in anger. "If I knew who attacked
Moore, he would feel my wrath!" she said, tightening her grip on his hand. Zed pressed his lips
together. "We should go to the hospital and see Moore first. I heard that Moore was the one that
caused the fight.
So let's find out what actually happened before we start making any decisions."
Zed sighed.
"What?" Jean's eyes widened. She looked at Zed in disbelief.
"Moore was the first one to stir up trouble?" "That's what I was told, but I'm not sure about the details,"
Zed answered with a bitter smile. "When we get to the hospital, we will find out."
