Arrogant Man VS Unyielding Woman

Chapter 365 I Came To See You

Chapter 365 I Came To See You

The sun shone on Jean's face, waking her up with a frown. She turned to her right side and as usual,

she found that Zed had already gotten up early and left for work. She sat up a few moments later and

rubbed the sleep out of her eyes.

Still feeling sleepy and a little lost, she slowly got out of bed, scratching her long and loose hair. She

faced the huge glass window and stretched. Satisfied, she walked into the bathroom to freshen up.

The warm water relaxed her body. Since she had decided to go back to Wen Group, she knew she had

to strike while the iron was still hot.

Besides, Grandpa Benjamin was still here in H City. She could imagine how he would violently react if

she just hung around him, doing nothing but idle about in the room.

He was already tired of seeing her even just for a few minutes, how much more for days? She also felt

uncomfortable around him, so going back to work gave her something else to get her busy.

Moreover, Grandpa Dan and Jesse were now around him.

Grandpa Benjamin wouldn't get bored even if Jean was not beside him.

As she finished washing herself, she wiped herself dry and walked out of the bathroom wearing a robe.

She changed into a fresh and neat suit that made her look all the more professional. She lightly made

her face up, and when she was finally contented of how she looked, she grabbed her bag and walked

outside of the room.

When she arrived in the dining room, she saw Jesse shuffling between Grandpa Benjamin and

Grandpa Dan. With a huge smile plastered on her face, she placed plates and containers filled with

various kinds of food for breakfast in front of them on the table and served them gallantly.

Jesse's caring act made Jean a little disappointed about herself. She wanted to do something like that

as well. Instead of showing her true emotions about the matter, she forced a smile at Jesse and to both

Grandpa Benjamin and Grandpa Dan.

Although Jean couldn't help feeling that Jesse had ulterior motives, she wasn't the kind of person to

have kindness without strings attached.

Then again, only Jean could see through Jesse's intentions. Even Zed couldn't imagine that someone

like Jesse could turn out to be that kind of a person, let alone others.

As Jean approached the dining table, the harmonious atmosphere surrounding the room started to fade

away. Silence filled the room instead.

Benjamin frowned. He remembered how Jean just suddenly left yesterday afternoon and returned

home really late despite him being home already. He complained about her more now that she woke up

later than anybody else in the house as if she could just go about her own set of manners.

With these thoughts in mind, he ignored her and sneered, lowering his head to give his full attention to

the food in front of him. He didn't even acknowledge her presence.

On the other hand, Grandpa Dan was more polite than Grandpa Benjamin. He gave Jean a generous

smile, greeting her,"Good morning, Jean. Come, join us for breakfast."

"Good morning, Grandpa Dan! and yes, it is my pleasure," she replied. "Good morning, Grandpa

Benjamin and Jesse," she added as she sat down across Grandpa Benjamin, who still pretended as if

she wasn't there.

Jesse just nodded at her and gave her a reluctant smile even though she was annoyed by how Jean

acted like nothing had happened. She remembered the broad smile on Zed's face before leaving home

this morning.

Even though she could tell how angry Jean was last night, Jesse started to feel like she imagined it

because Jean's expression this morning was the complete opposite. She couldn't believe that a night

was enough for the two of them to act as if nothing had happened.

'What did this cunning Jean do to Zed that they were already okay?' Jesse wondered.

'Or has Zed already fallen deeply in love with her that he couldn't resist keeping mad at Jean?' Jesse's

smile dropped at these thoughts.

Ignoring the look on Jesse's face, Jean didn't want to stress herself early in the morning and grabbed a

toast on the platter. She took a bite and pushed it down with some fresh milk, enjoying her breakfast.

She didn't even give Jesse a second glance.

When she was almost finished with her breakfast, Jean finally lifted her head and turned to face

Grandpa Benjamin, and in a polite manner, she said,"Grandpa, I would like to inform you that from

today onwards, I will be going to work. Besides, Grandpa Dan and Jesse…"

she paused for a moment and gave Jesse a sardonic look before continuing,"are around to look after

you. Zed and I will feel assured..."

Before she could finish her sentence, Benjamin interrupted her with a scowl. "Oh, of course you are!"

He glared at her, and in a huff, he grumbled,"You don't have any capabilities at all, so why did you

decide to work like a man? Isn't Zed working enough for the both of you, or are you so high-

maintenance? Or, are you not willing to look after your husband as soon as he gets home? So…"

"Grandpa, what are you blabbering about?" Jean interrupted. She didn't show how she was affected by

Grandpa Benjamin's words, and how he kept blaming her, judging her by his own premature reasons.

Instead, she gave him a smile and said,"I didn't make up my mind without consulting this to Zed, and

he agreed. Besides, I work in the company Zed had invested in."

Knowing Grandpa Benjamin's attitude, Jean mentioned Zed as if he was a shield and the magic word

to make Grandpa Benjamin compromise.

As Jean expected, his face softened at the mention of his grandson's name, and the thought of Jean

working for a company invested by Zed made him slightly change his mind. Sighing and still with a long

face, he muttered,"Well then, you should take your leave now. Make sure you don't go home late again,

or you'll trouble Zed again to pick you up, since you don't know how to drive. You should probably learn

how."

Displeased, Benjamin suggested, his eyebrows furrowed into a frown.

In haste, Jean nodded and promised that she would go home early, so as to accompany Benjamin

also. "I am going to head to work now. Bye, Grandpa Benjamin and Grandpa Dan!" She stood up,

giving Grandpa Dan a smile.

"Go ahead. Be careful on your way to the company!" Dan replied with a smile as well.

Jean nodded and turned to face Benjamin, waiting for him to say something.

Sensing that Jean was looking at him, Benjamin looked at her and made shooing gestures before

looking away. "Go! Don't be an eyesore here!"

Even after getting that response, Jean still beamed at him and happily waved at them. "Bye, Grandpa!"

After saying that, she gave Jesse a glance and then headed outside.

Silence filled the room as soon as Jean left.

Watching Jean's retreating figure, Jesse inhaled furiously and clenched her teeth out of hatred for

After a moment, Benjamin set his cutlery down and wiped his face with a napkin before heaving a deep

sigh. "The younger generation nowadays are really not like what we used to be," he scowled. "They are

so free-willing and just do whatever they like to do! I don't understand why Zed even agreed to let her

work."

"Benjamin," Dan interrupted. Although deep inside he disagreed with Benjamin's traditional ideas, he

didn't want to get on his bad side by contradicting him, and so he advised instead,"Take it easy! As long

as they are happy and as long as nothing happens to them, why don't you just let them be?"

"But if I just turn a blind-eye to them, I may not be able to live long enough to meet my great-grandson!"

Benjamin complained, leaning on his chair with a sigh.

Stunned, Jesse got her tongue-tied at Benjamin's words and silently ate her breakfast. She felt a pang

of ache in her heart, making her face drop immediately.

Soon, she realized that Grandpa Benjamin might notice, so she quickly changed her expression and

shook her head slowly at Grandpa Dan in secret.

Her face didn't show what she was thinking or feeling at the moment. Her heart flustered.

She thought about that day Grandpa Benjamin told her that she would be his favorite granddaughter-in-

law. Now, however, she knew that deep inside his heart, he had already accepted Jean as his

granddaughter-in-law despite the list of things he was dissatisfied about her. Jesse knew he hoped that

Jean could have Zed's child, making her feel completely saddened.

'Child…'

Jesse thought and as if a light bulb just lighted up on her head, her face lit up as well as an idea

flashed in her mind.

Meanwhile, as Jean arrived at the hospital, she immediately rushed to Henry's room.

As she opened the door to his room, she was surprised to see him alone, lying on the bed and only a

nurse was there to look after him. Henry had his eyes closed.

Contemplating whether or not to head towards him, she wondered how to talk to Henry. Although their

relationship wasn't that complicated, there was still tension between them, and she knew it would take

her a lot of effort just talking to him.

She hoped that either Joy or Shirley was here, but neither of them were there.

"Father, I came to see you," Jean announced loud, startling Henry who opened his eyes immediately.

His eyes widened in surprise to see Jean in front of him.

Jean asked the nurse to leave before moving closer to the bed. She sat on the chair and asked,"What

happened?"

She was surprised at her father's reaction. Henry used to feel impatient whenever she was around, but

why did he look astonished instead of his usual response towards her? 'What is going on?' Jean

wondered.

"You…" Henry said, after regaining his composure. "Why did you come?" He asked, his face forming a

confused look. "Aren't you going back to Wen Group? Why did you still have time to come here? Don't

you know what happened?"

Jean eyebrows furrowed into a frown mixed with concern. "What do you mean? Something happened

to Wen Group?" She looked confused and thought about possible things that might have happened.

Maybe this is the reason why Henry had a different expression on him after seeing Jean.

Seeing the puzzled look on his daughter's face, Henry now understood something, and he couldn't help

but heave a deep sigh. He looked away towards the window before looking at Jean.

"I see. You haven't come back to Wen Group yet, that's why they couldn't wait to…" Henry suddenly

lost his words and started to look pale as if his blood had been sucked out from him with this idea.

Even if her father didn't finish his sentence, Jean slowly understood what Henry was trying to tell her.

With eyes wide and mouth gape open in shock, she had a feeling that whatever that corrupt thing that

happened to Wen Group, she knew that it had something to do with Joy and Shirley.
