Chapter 345 Who Could Have Planned This
Chapter 345 Who Could Have Planned This
It was a pity that Jesse had left so early and had missed the splendid grand finale of her own show.
Jean had been really looking forward to the contortions her face would have gone through when she
would have seen her grand plan fall like a stack of cards.
As they walked out of the hall and bid farewell to each other, Jean and Maranda, two best friends were
wearing sparkling broad smiles on their faces. "Thank you so much, Maranda! You've helped me a lot!"
Jean thanked Maranda.
"I am really glad that the whole truth came out at last!" Maranda beamed with a wide smile and hugged
Jean tightly. "I can't tell you how worried I am after that video scandal came to light. I was so
overwhelmed with shame after that. If I had not asked you to go with me, you wouldn't have gotten into
trouble.
"Silly girl, you are not to blame! Stop blaming yourself! Even so, they would look for other chances to
set me up." Jean rebuked her fondly, giving her a comforting smile.
"But I felt so bad, especially after I came to know that you and Zed..." Maranda suddenly cheered up
and smiled. "Now the sun shines again and the sky is clear. It's really great to see you two reconcile."
"Maranda..." Feeling touched by her words, Jean sighed in pleasure. "Thank you for being with me
always. And you guys too," Jean turned her head towards Ron and Calvin, sincerely expressing her
gratitude.
"I don't know what if I could have done this without you guys."
"Don't shower us with all these formalities. We're all your friends and it is our duty to stand by you."
Ron immediately replied, while Calvin merely smiled as he glanced at Jean.
His silence was intriguing Jean. For some reason, he had been silent the whole night and Jean couldn't
help giving him another glance out of curiosity. She then remembered when they had met for the first
time, he hadn't talked much, either. 'Perhaps he was born a man of few words, ' Jean thought and,
satisfied with this explanation, smiled at him.
After she had waved goodbye to her friends and seen their cars drive away, Jean came back to the
present moment and heaved a slight sigh. Her smile surprisingly turned sour and a grave expression
appeared on her face.
Zed opened the car door, asking her to get in and then sat on the driver's seat. Noticing the gloomy
face she had suddenly put on, he got concerned. "What's up?" He asked. "Did you want to spend some
more time with your friends?"
"No." Jean shook her head and looked ahead with dull eyes. "Zed, don't you find it strange that Ethan
and Shirley showed up at the party together? The party was held by Sonny who was acting on
Grandpa's orders. But neither Grandpa nor Sonny would have invited Ethan and Shirley. Why did they
come?"
A shadow of doubt passed over Zed's face. He didn't reply before he had pondered for a while. "Who
sent you that text message when you were talking to Ethan?"
"A strange number." Saying that, Jean showed Zed the number on her phone.
Zed took a glance at the long string of numbers and speculated," It seems that some one wanted to
help us secretly. Who can it be? It must have been someone who knew their plan all along. He or she
planned for both the ex-es of Ethan and could have asked Sheryl to appear as a witness. We all know
that a mere verbal statement is no guarantee and those pictures were unconvincing because Ethan
easily denied their veracity.
Only Sheryl's appearance was the most convincing proof which proved a deadly blow. So, I suppose
Ethan hadn't expected it. He attempted to attack you in the end because he knew that his plan had
failed. He was ashamed and tried to vent all his anger on you." All text © NôvelD(r)a'ma.Org.
"That was really dangerous! Thanks to John..." Her heart was still fluttering with fear, but Jean felt very
lucky right now thinking about John.
Zed became silent and a complicated look flashed on his face.
Jean was sharp and immediately noticed the strange expression. In a concerned tone, she asked,"
What's the matter?"
"Does John... like you, Jean?" It took some time before Zed finally spit out his doubt. His displeasure
could be clearly seen on his face.
Jean was dumb-struck. She raised her eyebrows, feeling speechless.
How narrow-minded this man was! He was jealous once again!
"Zed, what we are talking about is something serious. Please don't buff in and change the topic, okay?"
There was obvious helplessness in her tone.
"This is serious to me!" Zed fixed his eyes on Jean and tried to look through her. "You are escaping the
topic and it means that John really likes you."
Zed said in an affirmative manner.
"Since you are so sure, why are you asking me?" Jean seethed in anger as she said.
'Can't we put an end to the topic?
Why are we talking about this when we were discussing something important and serious?' Jean
wondered.
"Jean, do you feel delighted to find someone else who likes you. Were you enjoying it and didn't want
me to know about it?" Zed was dissatisfied with her tone and was so displeased that he raised his
voice.
"I don't!" Jean didn't know whether to laugh or cry. Helplessly, she looked at the anger on her
husband's face and sighed. "Zed, why don't you trust me? You know it very well that I only have you in
my heart and you are the only man I love deeply."
Feeling aggrieved, Jean turned her head to one side.
Her reply smoothed Zed to quite an extent and his face was softened. "I feel uncomfortable at the mere
thought of other men coveting my wife."
"There is a difference between liking and coveting. Please don't mix it up! What's more, John is not
as... nasty as you imagine!" Jean tried to defend John in front of Zed.
She couldn't bear the connection of coveting with the gentle and cultivated John.
"You seem to know him very well?" Zed looked straight at his wife with his unfathomable eyes.
"Stop it! Let's talk about something else, okay?" Defeated by his constant interrogations, Jean pleaded.
Seeing that Jean really didn't want to go on with this topic, Zed could do nothing else and helplessly
gave her a nod.
His nod relieved Jean a lot. She took a deep breath and continued to ask Zed in a solemn tone," Zed,
did you hear what I said just now?"
"What did you say?" Zed pretended to ask her because he still felt a little uncomfortable in his heart.
Seeing the expression on his face, Jean helplessly shook her head and repeated the question again," I
find it strange that Ethan and Shirley were at the party. I am afraid someone planned all these for
them."
"You didn't guess wrong! That is for sure!" Zed replied as he drove the car. "Luckily, someone helped
us secretly, or things would have been damaged beyond repair."
Jean was pleased about Zed's thinking the same way as her and she went on to ask," Who do you
think could have done this? It wouldn't have been simple and easy to invite someone to the party. It has
to be someone special."
Deep in her heart, she already suspected Jesse, especially after she had heard the dialogue between
her and Shirley in the toilet.
But she had no evidence and it would have been an unwise and harsh decision to spit out her name
out of nowhere.
Zed treated Jesse like his sister and cared about her deeply. Additionally, their families were so close. It
was better for Zed to find it out himself.
She was not so stupid to throw herself in such a dilemma.
