Painful Date
Chapter 20: Painful Date
After sometime, he realised that he had gone too far.
Worried as to what to do to make things better, he turned and walked towards her.
“I am sorry dear. Let’s go out. I will make you happy today. Cone on!” he said as he walked towards her.
“I am sorry, but I can’t. Not when I can’t find my friend. I want Kate. I miss her. Why can’t you hear me Thomas. If you love me and want me happy, do what makes me happy.” she said and sat down on her chair, folding her arms.
Thomas wasn’t ready for her, so he dragged her by her arm and took her outside.
“Let go of me. I am not interested in any date. You can’t force me to go on a date with you.” she said repeatedly, but she was already in his car. Bending her head, tears poured out of her eyes.
Thomas drove round New York City with no intention of stopping till she was done crying.
When Anita noticed it, she stooped crying and dried up all her tears. Looking at the mirror in the car, she already noticed her eyes were so red.
Thomas was already fed up of waiting on her to finish crying.
Stooping the car, he took a deep breath and looked at her.
“Why do you think I don’t care Anita?” he asked her.
She didn’t respond.
“Hmmm! Since it’s what you want, I will file a complaint about your friend once I get to the office tomorrow morning. Is that okay?” he asked.
Anita became stunned.
What did he just say? He would help her look for Kate?
“Will you help me look for Kate? You will find my friend?” she asked, already getting excited.
“Yes. I will find her and I will bring her to you.” he said to her.
“Oh my God! Thank you so much Thomas. You are the best.” she said and hugged him tight.
“Can we go now?” he asked her.
“Of course we can.” she replied happily cleaning her tears as she jubilated on her seat.
After the date, Thomas drove her home and left her to rush back to the office.
At the other side, on Kate’s end, Kate was not surprised that Anita had not been able to make an appearance in her house even though she understood how worried she must be feeling.Exclusive content © by Nô(v)el/Dr/ama.Org.
Kate just never wanted to step out of her house.
She wanted to cry her heart out because only she knew how much she endured in the hands of Alex before the separation.
She had been indoor for weeks, reflecting on herself.
She would keep herself busy indoor, cleaning items that needed to be cleaned. Sometimes, she would scatter things and then proceed to arrange them back.
She just never wanted the world to see how miserable she looked.
She was already feeling better and was grateful to the universe for seeing her through those hard times.
There was a time within those weeks that she had wanted to forget about everything and return back to Alex, but another thing in her kept reminding her of how special she was and how deserved something more satisfying.
Grateful that she was feeling better, she stood up from the living area where she was watching movie and proceeded to the kitchen to make food for herself to eat.
After cooking, she served herself on the dinning table and started eating.
For some reasons, she felt a newfound strength in her.
What was that about? She asked herself.
She was so proud of herself. She never believed she could be this strong to go through this on her own.
Kate had suicidal thoughts, but during that process, she had to remind herself of her valuable she was.
She knew he was not worth the fight.
By the time she was done eating, Kate took it upon her self to move on as she took off all her clothes and stepped into the bathroom to have like an everlasting bath.
Kate was under the shower for almost one hour as she recited positive affirmations.
After having her shower, she took care of her skin and wore her best clothes.
Stepping out of her house for the first time in weeks, Kate smiled, adjusted her eye glass and started her journey.
It was already 7:30pm by the time Anita called it a day. Climbing onto her bed, she took out her phone and went online to see what it was that she had missed when she heard a knock on the sitting room door.
What could Andre possibly be doing in her house by this time of the day? She thought.
She understood that he was of help to her when she needed it the most, and she knew it was wrong of Thomas to want to pick up a fight with him after his help, but that did ran he can come knocking on her door whenever he wanted. Anita thought. She wanted to ignore, but what was the point.
She then decided to open it and use the same measure to remind him of his place.
On getting to her four, she contemplated on if she should actually open the door.
After some thought, she blindly pushed the door open.
Opening her eyes to give him a warning, she froze.
After sometime, she got back to her senses and her next reaction was to run away.
Seeing this reaction, Kate didn’t know what to do but to start laughing out loud.
“What is your problem? Oh my gosh! Anita!” she said and pushed the door open as she walked in.
Anita was still in fear as she walked around her sitting room, watching Kate’s movement carefully.
“Now this is no longer funny. What’s going on with you Anita?” she asked, pretending to be a bit upset about Anita’s reaction.
Standing up, she then walked towards Anita and hugged her tightly.
On feeling her touch, Anita broke down in tears.
