Anita’s Voice: Behind the Headlines

Headlines

Chapter 14: Headlines

Looking up at his assistant, “Let them know I won’t be in California for three months.”

“Ok Master!” he replied and left.

Anita and Kate couldn’t stop listing that night.

When Anita decided to call it a day, her phone then rang.

Looking at who it was, she picked it up immediately.

“Anita, do not forget to be active tomorrow. There will be an incident. Don’t worry about what it would look like.” he said and hung up.

“Just like that?” Anita worriedly said after the call dropped.

“What’s wrong?” Kate asked.

“Hmmm. I think there is an issue. It will be settled tomorrow though.”

“Is it that dangerous?” Kate asked.

“I have no idea. I hope it’s safe.”

Sass Media House

Anita walked round the whole office as she wondered what it was that may occur when her phone beeped.

Rushing to check what it was, she saw that it was a random text.

Breathing in and out, she brushed back her long hair with her fingers as she went and sat on her office chair.

“I can’t believe myself. I just hope everything goes fine.” she said to herself as she brought out her phone to call Andre into her office.

As soon as Andre entered her office, she received a text from Thomas.

*Appear at Collins College now*

“We need to head to Collins College. Call the driver. Hurry!” Anita said immediately he came in as she picked up her equipment and ran out.

Not long after, they appeared at the School, only to not have access to go in.

Worried, she tried to knock several times, but the men at the gate were not present to help them out.

Worried as to how possible it was to not be able to enter such a wide gate.Text content © NôvelDrama.Org.

Thankfully, the fence was pretty short, so she could see everything that was in the school compound.

“We will have to wait here Andre.” she said to him.”

“But why? Madam Cross did not instruct us to be here. You can keep acting on impulse okay.” he said, sounding a bit harsh.

“This is not me being impulsive. I am acting upon command. It’s for our own good.” Anita said and focused. She didn’t seem like she wanted to argue.

Andre remained calm as he watched cautiously.

Not long after, he heard some sounds coming from the opposite end of the compound.

“Be careful Anita!” he warned as he brought out his camera to do his job.

“Yes sure!” she replied as she held his other arm.

Andre froze.

She held his arm?

When anita realized how close she was to Andre, she quickly retrieved her arm and focused on the scene in front of her in hopes that it won’t be as dangerous as the last one.

Two masked guys were running in as four police men ran after them. Among them was Thomas.

They had tried to take away the school’s resources when a teacher caught them and acted fast by alarming the police.

Anita and Andre focused on the scene as Andre made sure he caught everything on camera.

As they ran, Thomas surpassed all other police men as he jumped so high, and knocked them down by himself.

The other police men got to where they were at and started locking their hands with handcuffs. After that, they took them away.

Anita walked up to Thomas as she smiled with a hand placed on her chest.

“Sir Thomas! You were so smart and quick to catch those thugs. How were you able to go that fast. Faster than even the criminals.” she asked.

“I have a special connection to my job. As long as it involves the lives and well-being of the citizens, I don’t mind running a million miles.”

“Wow officer Thomas! You have managed to change the public’s image of the police. Now, I believe everyone can think highly of our Police Force.”

“Was that necessary? I mean what he did can be done my thousands of people. Why didn’t you question the other police men?” Andre asked Anita when they got back to the office.

“I was only doing my job as a reporter. We went there, took evidence and we have reported them to Sass Media House. What else were you expecting?” Anita asked as she wondered why he was questioning her.

“We are not the only reporter, go check the headline in some hours, you will find the media talking about you and him. This is attention and it is so unnecessary.”

“Andre just do your job. Stop the unnecessary nagging.”

“I am not nagging. I need you to look into my eyes and tell me you have no idea that such an incident would occur.”

Anita froze.

Why was he being so dramatic? She couldn’t understand.

“How do you manage to get such information even before the incident would occur. If you are so concerned about the citizens, you would do all you can to stop it instead of waiting for it to occur just so you can get pictures and videos, write a statement and then report about it.” Andre continued.

“Listen Andre…” Anita opened her mouth to speak, but before she could finish her statement, Madam Cross walked in and met them in a discussion.

Looking satisfied, she walked in and waved at them.

“Good day ma’am!” Anita greeted and moved aside.

“Good day Madam Cross.” Andre greeted and tried to walk away when she stopped him.

“Why are you leaving? No, please don’t leave. I will be leaving you both soon to discuss on your own.” turning to look at Anita, “I see you Anita! Good job! I appreciate your determination and hard work. I acknowledge you too Andre. Keep it up you both.” she said and walked away.

Andre could not believe his ears. Did she just thank them? For what exactly.

It felt like the things happening these days were not information from the company. Where else then?” he asked himself.
