Alpha Knight’s Cursed Mate

54

KNIGHT She managed to take us to a place in one piece, under her own control. Finally, she made some improvements. I knew Nirvana was strong, and despite her defiance and doubts, I never doubted she wouldn’t stop figuring out what she could do, and I knew she would make a huge difference in our world.

She should have anticipated the other packs out there, and she just brought us to a dangerous pack in Alaska.

When five men appeared from a distance, my wolf turned protective, stirring and growling inside me. He became agitated, and my fangs tickled in my gums. My claws threatened to claw their way out.

Then I noticed the tall man in the center. He was, without a doubt, the alpha. I had yet to learn how big their pack was. I knew many packs, my allies, but none were in this area.

“We’re lost in the woods. We didn’t mean to trespass.” I wasn’t lying, but they could not know about Nirvana’s gift.

“I can smell you from afar.” That must be one of the enforcers. The alpha hadn’t spoken yet. “You came here on purpose, for what purpose? I don’t know, but we’re about to find out.”

“I apologize. We’re leaving in peace.”

“It’s too late for that,” the alpha said, his tone deep and deadly, his expression remorseless. What are you doing in my territory, werewolf? Why are you wandering around in an Alaskan pack territory? Are you spying on us?”

“I’m Alpha Knight. And this is my mate.” I knew a dangerous alpha when I met one. Califf was dangerous, and so was Alpha King. The question was, did Califf know there was a pack near the cabin? “We were on a vacation.”

“I don’t believe you. Your human mate’s heart is racing. Why don’t you tell me what the hell you are doing here?”

“I’m telling you the truth.”

“You come with us, or I will rip you apart before your mate. Your choice.”

“Knight.” Nirvana’s grip tightened around my arm as she said to our link. I could feel she was terrified. “This is all my fault. I shouldn’t have done something like this. I was so full of myself.”

“They can’t know. Whatever they do to me, you will teleport and save yourself. Call Zarah to take you and inform our pack what happened.”

“No. I’m staying with you. If they kill us, at least we die fighting together.”

“You have a mission to fulfill that’s bigger than this than us, Nirvana.” I inwardly groaned, but I knew what this relationship meant for her and us.

“No, Knight. Without you, my plans and missions are nothing. I have nothing to live for.”

The enforcers stalked in our direction, focused, alarmed, and dangerous. They were strong and highly trained.

I steeled as I protected Nirvana behind me. “Let her go. She’s human, and she has nothing to do with this.”

“She knows about us. Confiscate any devices. Take them.” The alpha turned and walked away.

My fists tightened as another group of werewolves in their wolf forms marched in our direction. Nirvana had a bigger chance of saving herself. She could teleport us back, but we might end up in the wrong place or worse, exposing her gift that could put her in a more dangerous situation than we were facing.

“Please, just let her go.” I stepped back as fury heated my blood. I knew my pleading time was over. If I were in their position, I would do the same thing. Our nature was feral and wild. We protected our territory, and I expected nothing less from an alpha.

“We’re staying at Luna Shadow’s cabin,” Nirvana said. The guys stopped and glanced at each other.

“We don’t believe you. Everyone knows her. You could have just used her name to beg for your freedom. Come with us, and you might have a chance to go home alive.”

I looked at Nirvana and nodded. “We’re going with them.”

“Walk or die,” said the bulky guy as he patted our clothes for phones and grabbed them from us.

My chest clenched as I forced my wolf to hold inside. We followed their instruction despite my wolf’s defiance. It was not about how we could survive. It was about making peace with them if they would give us a chance to talk. But I would take my chances if they lay a hand on Nirvana.

A few minutes later, the big house came into view- a country house in the middle of the woods, almost covered with snow, but the enforcers did not take us there. They turned left. They were putting us in one of their cages as their prisoners.

“I’m so sorry, sweetheart.”

“It’s all right.”

I was right. There was a small cave. It wasn’t so much a prison cell as a cave gated with an iron door. Only a single yellow lamp reflected the iron walls, which were probably five inches thick. I ignored the horrible smell inside. Someone must have died here, and they left it rotten to torment their prisoners.

“Get in, or I will rip your mate apart,” said the head of the enforcers.

“At least give us five minutes to tell your alpha that we didn’t end here on purpose. As an alpha to alpha, I demand a face-to-face with him.”

“I’ll make sure to relay your message, alpha,” he said disgustingly and mockingly.

If I were only alone, I’d already ripped his throat out, but I thought about Nirvana’s safety.

“Just tell him to call Alpha Califf and tell him Alpha Knight and his mate Nirvana are your prisoners. No, tell him that Alpha Lycan King Sebastien brought us to his cabin with the help of a witch, Zarah.” Nirvana caught the attention of the bulky guy.

“How do you know them?”

“I told you we know them. Alpha Knight is a friend of Alpha Califf. We’re from Californian White Moon Pack.”

Without remorse, the bulky guy shoved Nirvana inside the cage.

“Don’t fucking touch her!” My eyes glowed as I growled in anger at him. My wolf demanded to come out to protect our mate. The two enforcers growled back, and three wolves stalked behind them.

“Do that, and you’re dead,” said the head of enforcers, the long-haired man. “You’re maybe an alpha of your pack, but you’re nothing but our prisoner here. Get in, or we will stuff you out cold and bleeding.”

I hissed at the blinding pain. It felt like something drilled into my brain, and I couldn’t stop it. Millions of stabbing needles flared into my exposed skin.

“Yes. There’s silver everywhere, and you tried to claw your way out. There’s wolfsbane everywhere.” They locked the door before us and left.

I rushed towards Nirvana as she curled on her knees. “Sweetheart?”

She was shaking, her jaw trembling.

“Hey, sweetheart.” I wrapped myself around her as every part of me throbbed. “It’s okay. It’s gonna be okay.”

“It hurts. It hurts a lot.”This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.

Then it hit me hard. “You’re allergic to silver.”

“I’m not. I feel my inside is burning. My blood is melting.”

“I’m so sorry, sweetheart. Is your necklace giving a signal?”

“Earlier. Right now, no. We’re alone and trapped inside the magic cave.” She shook further like she was about to freeze. “If you didn’t stop me, I could easily take them down.”

“I know, sweetheart, but we have a bigger fish to fry, and if we could escape from here, I would gladly claw their hearts out of their chests. But we have to survive in here. Take this as your test.”

“I’m weak, Knight. I know you’re in pain, too. I can feel you. I can feel your pain. You are the only thing that keeps me from being strong because I know you won’t let anything happen to me. And I will do the same.”

“Save your strength, sweetheart.”

“I need to channel Asina.”

“You mean you will summon the wolf spirit in you?” I loosened my arms around her.

As she drew a deep breath, I heard footsteps coming and prepared myself for the worst. Protecting her was all that mattered to me, even if it could end my life.
