Alpha Knight’s Cursed Mate

30

NIRVANA

I woke up wrapped up in his arms. I realized it wasn’t the effect of the mating pull anymore. We liked each other and got along just fine if we were not like cat and mouse.

Despite our differences, I really liked this guy. He could be domineering, but I completely understood, considering his line of work and how these guys look up to him.

Knight had a reputation and integrity to maintain, and looking at those guys who followed him everywhere without questions and how they respected him, I should, at least, give this relationship a chance.

“What are you thinking?”

“You can read my mind too?”

“No, but when we complete the mating process, we can read each other’s thoughts.”

“Yeah, I read it from the book, and we can also sense each other’s emotions or if one of us is hurt or something. Don’t you think it’s a little creepy?”

“No. Not at all,” he confidently said as he placed a waffle on my plate. “Do you like syrup or whipped cream?”

After I showered earlier, Knight decided it was time for us to go to his house as part of the deal. So here I was in his massive kitchen, sitting on his stool before the dark granite countertop while he was making us breakfast.

He told me to sit, so I did what he said as I watched him get busy like a bee before me.

“Syrup, and if you have strawberries, that would be nice.”

“Yeah. I have.” He grabbed a punnet and ran the strawberries under running water.

“Just let me help you.”

“No. I told you I would make us breakfast. Are you that hungry?”

“No. I can’t help just sitting here and watching you do it alone.”

“Look.” He paused. “I know this is pretty inconvenient for you, but I want us to get along. I want this to work out. And you have to get used to me serving you, doing something for you even if you don’t ask for it. And I hope you won’t resist if I make a small gesture because sometimes, it hurts even for a human side of me.” He put another waffle onto my plate, sliced some strawberries, and poured a decent amount of syrup.”

“I think that’s enough,” I chuckled. “I want a Belgian waffle, not a porridge.”

“Enjoy your breakfast.” He also smiled and placed a cup of coffee for me.

I started eating while he heated a croissant on the waffle maker. Then he placed some ham and cheese on his plate and carried a cup of coffee before joining me and sitting beside me.

“It’s good. Thanks.”

“You’re welcome. Are you allergic to any food?”

“Not that I know of. You?”

“Nope.”

I watched him take a big bite of his croissant and eat with pleasure.

“Why are you looking at me like that?”

“I think about what you said earlier. I appreciate your trying your best here to make this relationship work. I just want you to know that. And given that this must be difficult for you, making adjustments for me to be in your life, you deserve a little credit. Thanks for trying, but I don’t wanna impose. I wanna know how long I should stay in your house. I may not have an enhanced olfactory sense, but I can see that this is your sanctuary.”

“You’re saying if I bring someone here or if you’re invading my privacy. I want you to stay here as long as you want. If I have to decide, you can stay with me for the rest of your life.”

As my brow arched, I stared at him in shock. “Are you sure?”

“This house is for my mate.”

“And for your girlfriends?”

He beamed before he sipped his coffee. “Nice one, Nirvana. I told you I won’t cheat on you. What I have for you is a long-term and hopefully forever responsibility.”

“But you don’t even like me.”

He smiled again. “That’s coming from you. Not me.”

“This is my home office. That corner door leads to the mini gym, pool, patio, and backyard. Woods at the back, and you can run safely. I installed a security system at the end of the property.”

“What’s upstairs?”

“Masters bedroom, more bedrooms, bathrooms, another kitchen, living room, deck, and a family room. There is a cellar underground.”

“Why am I not even surprised? How big is the cellar.”

“A couple of oak barrels. Can fit a thousand wine bottles.”

“Wow.”

“You wanna see it?”All text © NôvelD(r)a'ma.Org.

“Maybe later. Do you have a panic room?”

When he smiled, I shook my head in amusement. “Don’t answer that.”

“It’s located just below the master bedroom. I’ll show you later.”

“I can stay in one of the guest rooms. Thanks for accommodating me.”

Confusion was plastered over his face before he said, “I thought we were good with sleeping in the same bed.”

“Is that what you want?”

“Yes. I will tell Luka to bring your things here.”

“No. I don’t like someone touching my things, but I can go back and pack them, and then I need help carrying them into the car.”

“All right.”

“Can I avail one of your living rooms or entertainment room?”

“To paint?”

“No. I want to watch movies.”

His smile was from ear to ear. “You can use one of the rooms as your studio. I’ll call someone to clean it up so you can put your things in there.”

I sighed deeply. “I’m sorry.”

“For what?”

“For the troubles.”

“I want you to feel at home. Let’s go and watch movies.”

“I’m watching a sappy romantic movie. Would you join me?”

“Whatever you want.” He opened the door to the entertainment room. “Choose what movie you want to watch. I’ll go make us some popcorn.”

“Do you have sodas?”

“I’ll bring some.”

“Thanks.” I grabbed the remote and scrolled down some movies on the monitor. I chose a biopic movie and paused it when it started rolling.

“What are we watching?” He came back with a big bowl of popcorn and some sodas. He adjusted the recliner and pulled the lower part to make us comfortable.

“Are you sure you don’t have things to do? You’re a busy person. I’m fine with watching alone.”

“I don’t give a shit about work right now. I’d been working non-stop for years. I deserve alone time with you. Now play that crappy movie.”

I smiled and pecked him on his cheek. “Thanks?”

He turned to me. “What was that for?”

“For being cool.”

When he looked right straight into my eyes, I thought I read something, maybe asking for permission. I instantly closed the gap between us and pressed my lips against him. It was quick, but I liked that there was no awkward moment between us.

“Let’s watch a movie.”

“Yeah.” I pressed the play button.

“Last night was nice.”

“Which one? Me waking up in your arms or you suffering from the small and short bed.”

“Every moment of it.” When he realized we were not watching a romantic movie, he stared at me.

“I haven’t watched this. Or you would rather choose the movie to watch.”

“It’s good. I can’t remember the last time I went to a movie theater-”

“With a date.”

He shook to laugh.

“Maybe never. Right, alpha?”

“We can go together.” He wrapped his arm around me. “As a date.”

I looked up at him. “Of course.”

“Can I kiss you?” That burst me laughing, and my laugh sounded so deranged.

I stared at him in disbelief while I gathered all my courage to fight the urge and lust, screwing my head and heart from pumping so hard.

“Did you just ask permission to kiss me?” My words came out in a breathless rush.

“I respect my date.”

I shook my head in amusement. “I bet you don’t do that often.”

“No, I don’t.” He put the bowl on the seat next to him.

“Should we pause the movie or pretend we are in a cinema?”

“No pretending.” His voice was slow and velvety before he cupped my face and captured my mouth, proving to me that he wanted it more, making me gasp in surprise.

My heart roared like a crashing ocean in angry weather. Goosebumps erupted all over my arms as I felt his lips against mine. I instantly kissed him back.

From today forward, there was no going back. I might as well sleep with him and let him mark me to complete the mating process.

I found my hands gripping those biceps. Knight was hard everywhere, but nothing hard about his kiss but soft and tender and worth moaning for.

He kissed me passionately, slow and sensual, as he sensed that I was enjoying it, that his kiss had the ability to let all those worries and doubts go away.

When he sought entrance, I willingly opened my mouth for him. His tongue invaded, exquisitely soft and warm, causing a moan to escape from me.

Until a vibration from his phone pulled us apart.
