I returned the kiss softly before he broke it off and landed it at the right side of my cheeks.
“Go and clean up or else you’ll be late for the make up test.”
My eyes fluttered closed and I allow his sweet smell and natural scent to lure me.
“Don’t try to sleep…” Kayden dodged me when I tried to rest on him.
“Okay.. fine.” I stood up.
He is not going to tell me about the surprise because it is a surprise.
“I’ll take a shower and head to school.” I walked off.
And while I was bathing, I heard the door bell rang. I opted into an outfit that won’t reveal any part of my body because Kayden won’t allow it. I was only allowed to wear them in the pack because every male wolf respected the fact that I would be their Luna soon. But Kayden doesn’t trust the male humans. Most of them get carried away by what they see. He had said to me.
I rushed out of the bedroom to the living room only to find Kayden pacing to and fro.
“Kayden,” I called.
His eyes darted at me but I didn’t like the expression on his face.
“What’s wrong?” I asked but got no response. “I heard the doorbell ring earlier, who -”
“Freddie,” Kayden stopped pacing with a hard expression his face.
“Oh.. Freddie. He must have dropped by to pick me up to school.” I said.
“What?” Kayden gasped. “Do you still let him drive you to school?!” He growled out.
I jumped in fear at his sudden outburst. There we go again fighting because of Freddie. Fred Jordan is my coursemate and we have been friends since my second year in college. Fred is a pure human but he doesn’t know I am a werewolf. So far so good I have done a great job at hiding my identity from my human friends. Not like I have many of them but Freddie is my closest friend.
When Kayden first met Freddie he didn’t like him. Well I understand that my mate was only trying to mark his territory but it has gotten to the point that Kayden clearly told me to stay away from Fred.
It is hard to suddenly cut off my relationship with Freddie. He mean no harm and I only see him as a friend and study partner. But no matter the points I try to prove, Kayden doesn’t like the idea.
“Do you still let him drive you to school?” Kayden repeated.
I shook my head. “But you don’t-”
“…have to worry about Freddie because we are just friends!” Kayden cut me off and completed my intended statement.
“How many times do I need to make it clear to you that I don’t like you being friends with that guy!” His eyes sparkled with anger and jealousy.
“I don’t like his guts! And he doesn’t respect the fact that I am your mate!” Kayden grounded out.
“Come on Kayden, humans don’t understand how wolf mating works.” I replied in a calm tone.
“He is not dumb! He should know by now that you have a man! And I am the man in your life!” Kayden pointed out.
“Can you stop getting yourself worked up because of Freddie.” I rolled my eyes.
“Why do you feel so calm whenever we argue about stupid Freddie? Seriously it annoys my wolf to see you with him! So tell me do you have feelings for him?!” Kayden asked.
The color drained out of my face. “What? Is that what you think of me?” I asked.
“Well I won’t be surprised if you have something for him since you have been friends with him for over two years now!” Kayden spat angrily.
I was disappointed and hurt at the same time by his words. My mate should trust me right?
“I made an offer to buy you a car but you declined me! Why? You just want to keep riding in his stupid car!” Kayden fumed.
I couldn’t help but sneer at his words. “I can see that you don’t trust me. I am being friends with Freddie because he is a genius and -”
“You are a dummy.” He cuts in sharply.
My jaw dropped at his words. My mate just called me a dummy.
“You can’t study alone right? You need Freddie to be with you. Stop the excuses Avery!” He pointed a finger at me. “Stop pretending, I know you didn’t tell him that I am your mate. And if he doesn’t understand what a mate means then you should have used the simple word fiancé!” Kayden breathed out heavily and then he stormed out of the house.
I didn’t miss the hurtful expression on his face when he left the apartment. He has never been this angry. Okay – I get it now. I am at fault. I haven’t informed Freddie that I have a man that I am ready to spend the rest of my life with. I don’t want to go into more deeper details because I am scared that it would reveal my identity someway.
To be honest, I don’t want to lose Freddie too.
“Kayden…” I rushed out of the apartment to look for him. I know why Kayden was feeling insecure now. He is just scared of loosing his mate to a mere human.
Kayden was no where to be found. I glanced down at my watch, if I try searching for my mate then I would miss the test. So I rushed back into the house, I tried his number but soon found his cellphone in the couch. It would be hard to monitor his whereabouts now. I dropped a note on the table.
“I am sorry. We’ll talk when I get back home. Love you.”
I went out of the house to hail down a taxi to college. And then I concluded that I would tell the truth about my relationship with Kayden to Freddie. I also don’t want to lose my mate.
