Chapter 17: The Ten Thousand Years Iron Tree Is Blooming
"Xavier Si quickly bought lunch and came back, and he thoughtfully bought several portions, including both dishes and soups. Even the dishes were all to Olivia Xia's liking. Sofia Yue couldn't help but glance at Xavier Si again. This man is quite calculating; he's figured out all of Olivia Xia's preferences.
"Why did you buy so much? How can we eat all of this?" Sofia Yue's tone was a bit unfriendly. "Wasting food is shameful."
Xavier Si's face, devilishly charming, revealed a hint of a playful smile. "Don't worry, Sofia. I have a good appetite, and I don't intend to waste anything."
Olivia Xia looked at the spread of food, her eyes softening. "Thank you, Xavier. It's very considerate of you."
Sofia Yue huffed but couldn't deny that the food smelled delicious. Reluctantly, she took a seat and started serving herself. Xavier's keen understanding of Olivia's tastes made her feel a mix of admiration and curiosity about his background.
As they ate, the conversation turned to work. Olivia shared some updates on the upcoming projects at LM, and Xavier listened intently, occasionally offering his own insights. Sofia found herself reluctantly impressed by his knowledge and thoughtful comments.
Halfway through the meal, Olivia's phone rang. It was a call from her father. "Excuse me," she said, stepping away to take the call.
Xavier and Sofia continued eating in silence for a moment. Then, Xavier broke the ice. "You know, Sofia, I understand your concerns about wasting food. It's a good principle to have."
Sofia looked up, slightly surprised. "Well, it's important to be mindful, especially when so many people don't have enough to eat."Content rights belong to NôvelDrama.Org.
Xavier nodded. "Absolutely. I made sure to get dishes that could be easily packed up and taken home if we couldn't finish them."
Sofia's expression softened a bit. "That's thoughtful of you."
When Olivia returned, she seemed a bit more relaxed. "Sorry about that. It was my father. He's just checking in."
"Everything alright?" Xavier asked.
"Yes, just some family matters," Olivia replied with a small smile. "Let's finish our meal. We have a lot to discuss this afternoon."
As they continued eating, Olivia couldn't help but notice the dynamic between Xavier and Sofia. Despite Sofia's initial reservations, it seemed like Xavier was slowly winning her over with his genuine charm and thoughtfulness.
After lunch, they cleared the table, packing up the leftovers neatly. Xavier insisted on helping with the cleanup, further earning Sofia's grudging respect.
Back in the office, the three of them dove into work. Olivia outlined the tasks ahead, delegating responsibilities efficiently. Xavier and Sofia were impressed by her leadership and organizational skills.
As the day went on, the team worked seamlessly together. By evening, they had made significant progress on their projects. Olivia felt a sense of accomplishment and was grateful for the support of her team.
Before leaving for the day, Xavier approached Olivia. "I wanted to thank you for trusting me with these responsibilities. It means a lot."
Olivia smiled warmly. "You've proven yourself to be reliable and capable, Xavier. I'm glad to have you on board."
Xavier's eyes twinkled with gratitude. "I'll continue to do my best."
As he left, Sofia approached Olivia. "He's not so bad, you know," she admitted grudgingly. "I was wrong about him."
Olivia nodded. "I had a feeling you'd come around. He's a good person."
Sofia sighed. "I suppose I should give him more of a chance."
Olivia smiled. "That's all I ask."
With that, they wrapped up their day, feeling more united and ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead.
