Chapter 272 Unavoidable Confrontation
Chapter 272 Unavoidable Confrontation
"She is getting more and more childish, " Lenny embarrassingly said as he saw his daughter walk out
without manners. He shook his head.
"Father, Rosy is still young. Don't be angry with her immaturity, " Devin quickly stood up to mediate the
dispute.
"My niece, I feel sorry for what happened. Please don't take it seriously, " Lenny apologized deeply to
Linda.
Although Rosy Nalan was rude and heartless, her father wasn't.
Linda's impression of Lenny also got a bit better.
After having some food, Lord Nalan took Linda to the other tables to toast with some VIPs of the party.
Today's gathering was all about Linda's official induction to the clan.
Linda was grateful to Lord Nalan for what he had done.
In this way, Linda could build her network and reputation with these prestigious people so she could
easily plan out her revenge.
There were a lot of people who wanted to take a closer look at Linda. After she sat down, people were
still approaching her so that they could personally have a toast.
Linda felt sad. She was an avid foodie, and the food at the party looked delicious. But she had to put
her chopsticks down, once someone came to toast.
Although she had already had someone change the red wine in her glass into grape juice, she was still
getting sick of drinking.
Group after another group, she was overwhelmed and couldn't even remember the names anymore.
Richard said that the Mu clan would be here today. Linda had been looking for them but to no avail.
Linda would have recognized Charles even from a mile away.
"Nel, wasn't the Mu clan supposed to come today?"
"Let me check it for you, My Lady."
Nelson came back and informed Linda, "My Lady, the Mu clan is on the guest list. They are supposed
to be here."
"Have they arrived yet?" Why she couldn't find them?
"Where are they sitting? Why haven't I seen them?" asked Linda.
Nelson pointed to two tables southward, "See? They are sitting there, but only the Lord and the
Ladyship of Mu clan had come. Young Master Mu seemed to be absent."
Linda looked at the direction Nelson pointed.
She saw three familiar people.
James Mu, Violet and Bun.
Bun was whispering to Violet. Suddenly, Linda was on the verge of tears.
She hadn't seen all three of them for a long time. Seeing that they were all fine, Linda felt relieved.
Time seemed to have no effect on James Mu's face. Linda looked at him as he held a glass of wine
and talked with his friends.
James Mu and Charles Mu were somewhat alike. So when she saw James Mu, she saw Charles Mu in
him.
She hadn't seen Bun for a long time either.
Linda almost failed to fight the urge in her heart to say hello to them, but she was able to hold herself
back.
"My Lady, what's the matter?"
Nelson asked with concern after seeing Linda's eyes turn red.
Nelson not only knew that Charles was the fiancé of Linda, but he also knew the tragedy she had gone
through and who made it happen.
However, he was not good at comforting girls, so he glanced at Lily for help.
Lily merely shook her head as if telling Nelson to leave it alone.
Although Linda had suffered so much, she was always cheerful in front of them, as if all was well.
But Lily knew that there was misery in her heart. Right this moment, Linda didn't need to be comforted;
she needed to be left alone.
"I'd like to go to the restroom, " Linda slightly snuffled.
"Okay. I'll wait for you here, " Lily nodded.
Linda shook her head. Her chest tightened, so she wanted to go out to have a walk. Then, she said,
"Don't wait for me, Nel. You may send Lily back first. I want to go to the plum garden for air. The air
here is too stuffy."
"I'm coming with! Linda, leaving you alone in the plum garden would not be safe. What if Rosy asked
someone to push you into the pond again? We don't know what else she plans to do!" Lily worriedly
said.
Linda nicely corrected, "Lily, my name is Haley Nalan."
Lily immediately put her hands on her mouth and looked around. Fortunately, everyone was busy
talking to other people. No one heard what she just said. What a relief! It would've been a mess
otherwise.
"Lily, don't worry. You should go back and rest. After I send you back home, I will go to the plum garden
to pick up Lady Haley. I will absolutely make sure that no one dare try to hurt the Lady."
There was only one entrance to the plum garden. As long as Nelson guards the door, she would safe
especially if there no one else was inside. This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org: ©.
Hearing this, Lily felt relieved. She nodded and said, "Well, okay. But Linda, you shouldn't stay out too
late. It gets chilly at night. Don't catch a cold!"
Linda didn't drink wine tonight, but she drank a lot of grape juice. She really needed to go to the toilet.
After using the toilet, Linda stood in front of the mirror. She recalled what she saw tonight.
Seeing Bun, James Mu and Violet, made her miss them more. She felt the urge to tell them the truth.
But Linda knew that even if she went back to Mu clan, there would be countless people keeping their
eyes on her and plotting to get rid of her.
She'd rather kill those people first when they least expect it.
Linda gently caressed her belly to calm her child. This was the child of Charles Mu. The baby was
growing inside of her, and thinking about this made her happy.
How she wished she could share this moment with Charles. However, she knew that now was not the
right time.
She washed her hands and walked to the door, when a person pushed it open from the outside and
walked in.
It was Amy Qi.
Amy saw her and was taken aback. And then, she recognized who the woman was, Haley Nalan. She
was the reason why Amy was at the party tonight.
During the banquet, Amy had tried to catch a glimpse of Haley.
People were saying that the person in the powder blue dress was Haley Nalan, the granddaughter of
Richard and a lady of the Nalan clan.
"Are you Haley?" Amy sorted out her thoughts and asked with smile.
