A Successful Career After Divorce

Chapter 928: Legs

“Good night!”

Brendon held Ranita’s head and kissed her on the forehead, smiling brightly.

Ranita was exhausted and fell asleep instantly without even dreaming.

Her biological clock woke her up on time.

Ranita stretched lazily, feeling much more refreshed and clear-headed.

She turned over and felt something beside her.

She froze.

Ranita quickly covered her mouth, staring wide-eyed at Brendon lying next to her. It took her about ten seconds to remember that Brendon had taken her away last night.

Though she was groggy, she still remembered what happened the previous night.

Her face turned red instantly.

Ranita bit her lip, carefully moved a bit away, and reached for her phone.

The phone was off, probably out of battery.

She didn’t want to wake Brendon, so she moved gently to get out of bed, but as soon as her toes touched her shoes, she collapsed back onto the bed.NôvelDrama.Org owns all content.

“Hmm?” A low voice sounded behind her. Before she could turn around, an arm wrapped around her waist and pulled her back.

“Brendon…” Ranita complained softly, trying to get up, but he held her like a pillow in his arms.

Dry lips touched her ear.

“Baby, why are you up so early?”

The affectionate tone made Ranita shiver. She blushed and glared at him, “Can you let go? I need to go to the bathroom.”

“Are your legs still weak?”

Ranita: …

That question was really embarrassing!

If she said yes, it sounded ambiguous; if she said no, her legs did feel a bit wobbly.

“Let go!” After a pause, Ranita warned him seriously, “And stop calling me baby. It’s creepy.”

Brendon laughed against her shoulder.

He was already in his loungewear, probably just woken up, looking relaxed and gentle.

Ranita felt like she was drowning in his warmth, her heart sweetened.

“Then how about calling you wife?” Brendon bargained.

“No way!” Ranita bared her teeth. That term wasn’t much better than baby…

Brendon sighed with his eyes downcast, “If I can’t call you this or that, what should I call you?”

“How about darling?”

Ranita glared at him angrily, “Why are you so annoying now!”

Brendon laughed even more happily. Ranita slapped his hand away and stormed off to the bathroom to cool down.

But she hadn’t calmed down for long when her charged phone started ringing madly.

“… My brother…” Ranita looked at the phone with a headache. She had been so busy talking to Brendon that she forgot she had disappeared from the party last night, probably scaring everyone!

Ranita’s mind was a bit chaotic now.

She must have drunk something she shouldn’t have and almost got taken to the lounge by Rodolfo…

“What should I do?” Ranita pouted miserably at Brendon.

Brendon reached out, “Let me answer it!”

Although Brendon wanted to help, Ranita thought it was better if he didn’t show up now. She shook her head, “Better not! If my brother hears your voice and knows I spent the night with you, he’ll be even angrier!”

Ranita took a deep breath and answered the phone. Jedidiah’s furious voice immediately came through: “Ranita, where are you? Why are you only answering now?”

“Jedidiah, I’m fine!”

“Where’s Brendon? Let me talk to him!” Jedidiah roared.

Ranita bit her lip, her heart pounding as she instinctively asked, “How do you know I’m with Brendon?”
