Chapter 904: Conspiracy
“Chole, don’t say anything!” Jedidiah frowned and stopped Chole, but Chole didn’t care at all. She raised an eyebrow and said, “What? Am I wrong?”
“Mom and Dad are not in good health, yet she still makes the family angry. Is she worthy of Bowman’s Mansion?”
Jedidiah stood in front of Ranita. “Chole, speak properly!”
“Wasn’t I speaking properly just now? I was telling the truth. Just because you don’t like it, doesn’t mean I can’t say it.” Chole held Alexia’s hand. “Mom, did I say anything wrong?”
Alexia always felt indebted to Chole.
She patted Chole’s hand. “Chole, your brother didn’t mean that! And don’t speak about Ranita like that; she’s your sister.”
“Hmph! Since she’s my sister, can’t I care about her? Mom… you all just favor her!” Chole snorted coldly and turned to leave.
Alexia called after her, “Chole, that’s not what Mom meant.”
Alexia looked at Ranita and then went after Chole.
Jedidiah sighed. “Ranita, don’t take Chole’s words to heart; she didn’t mean it.”
“I know.”© 2024 Nôv/el/Dram/a.Org.
“Get some rest. I’ll go check on them.” Jedidiah went out, intending to talk to Alexia and persuade her not to be so stubborn.
Ranita was an adult and could be responsible for her own feelings.
If they insisted on breaking them up, Ranita might be even more heartbroken.
Ranita wasn’t feeling well and was on an IV drip, drowsy. Before she drifted off to sleep, she saw Alexia return.
“Anyway, I will never agree to Ranita being with Brendon.”
“I don’t want her involved with the Stuart family or the Murphy family!”
“Mom…”
Half-asleep, Ranita couldn’t hear clearly.
In another ward of the same hospital, Chole sat beside Shannon, delicately peeling an apple for her.
“Shannon, have some fruit.” After a pause, Chole asked, “Are you feeling better?”
Shannon replied softly, “I’m much better. Thank you for your concern, Chole.”
“I heard Ranita is sick? Is she feeling better?”
Chole smiled faintly. “She has a fever and is lying down. Are you asking if Brendon is here?”
“My mom doesn’t like him, so he’s not at the hospital.”
Hearing this, Shannon felt happy.
But the next second, Chole added, “He’s at home taking care of his son! Shannon… you lost this game quite badly.”
Shannon smiled. “I wonder if you have any advice for me, Chole?”
Chole looked at Shannon. “I do dislike Ranita, but I’m not foolish enough to let you use me.”
“Chole, you hate Ranita and so do I. Why not take action?” Shannon’s voice was innocent, like Pandora’s box with a hint of temptation.
“Chole, didn’t you say she almost killed you? After all these years, don’t you want revenge?” After a pause, Shannon continued, “I know you must have a way, right?”
Chole took a tissue and wiped her hands.
“Shannon, I do have a way! But… if I help you, what’s in it for me?”
Chole looked at Shannon calmly. “I have a good suggestion; I just don’t know if you can help.”
Shannon knew that to gain something, she had to give something.
She smiled lightly. “Chole, just tell me what you need. If I can do it, I will.”
“As long as you can deal with Ranita.”
