Chapter 46 Divorce

Stella’s mother had obviously believed in most of Diane’s words, and her whole body was trembling as

she asked the question. This time, however, there was no need for Stella to push any further as Diane

turned and walked away on her own.

Stella’s parents were not bad people. Diane was actually fighting a losing battle and being hurtful and

on top of that, it wouldn't even make any difference to the situation. At best, she could only let a vicious

woman like Stella be censured by her parents.

However, as Stella said, it was not illegal to induce abortion, nor was it illegal to provoke someone, less

so to snatch one’s husband away! What more can I do? That’s the way the world works—the evil can

get away with anything while the rest of us just watch on.

After her trip to the Mayfairs, Diane was feeling out of sorts. This dump lasted till the night and she still

couldn’t feel at ease. In the end, she ended up having a wakeful night. She was not able to sleep for

the whole night, and Christopher did not return either.

As she couldn’t fall asleep, she got up very early the next morning. She then packed some morning

snacks in an insulated box and made her way to the hospital. Diane felt that she was at fault as

Queenie got injured on her account, so she wanted to visit Queenie often and show her sincerity. This

was what Diane believed in, and so she reached the hospital at 7.00 AM.

The VIP area was rather empty, and the walkway was rather silent as there weren’t many people

around. After a short walk to the ward, she could see that the door was half-opened, so she pushed it

open without much hesitation. As she was about to step in, however, what came into view left her

stunned.

Unlike what Diane had expected, Christopher had not left. Instead, he was still at the edge of the bed,

with one hand propping his head up as he faced the bed. She couldn’t see whether he was awake, but

Queenie was. As Queenie was facing the door, Diane clearly saw that not only was the former wide

awake, she was leaning over to Christopher and her face was a hair's breadth from his—she was

kissing him.

Diane often felt superfluous when it came to this couple. This time, her existence had expressed her

thoughts to the fullest. Christopher stayed by Queenie’s side the whole night, and she kissed him as

soon as she woke up. Even though Diane wasn’t sure—since Christopher was sound asleep—what his

reaction would be, she had a hunch that he would not reject the kiss even if he was awake.

In the midst of Diane spacing out, Queenie ended the kiss and lifted her face. A hint of shock flashed

across her pale face when she saw Diane standing by the doorway. Shock was written all over her

face, so Diane took a step back and closed the door.

Upon closing the door, Diane could feel her heart galloping in her chest. She couldn’t put her feelings

into words and she felt as if she was a voyeur who just saw someone else’s secret. At that moment,

she panicked and couldn’t help but feel upset. It’s a fact that Queenie has feelings for Christopher, but

what about the man himself? The nickname ‘Q’ in his contact, the anxiousness while Queenie got

injured, and now the whole night of staying by her side; he is also in love with her too, I presume?

All of a sudden, Diane felt envious but as she was ashamed of how she felt, she quickly suppressed

her feelings. Clutching the meal box, she decided not to pay Queenie a visit anymore. After all, she

was pretty sure both of them would not want her to interrupt their time now. Not only now, perhaps it will

also be the same in the future. The both of them are a perfect match so they should be together.

A flurry of thoughts clamored around in her mind as she left the hospital and went home. She had

never felt this chaotic sensation before in her whole life. Her heart was pounding and this unsettling

feeling was still there even after she arrived home and sat on the sofa for a very long while. Diane’s

mind only drifted back to reality when her maid reminded her that she was still holding the meal box in

her hands, and it was only then that she handed it over and went upstairs.

Her marriage with Christopher happened not long ago. However, a lot had happened in this short Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.

period of time. We each had our own agenda when we got married, but what about now? Christopher

has someone he loves, while the things that I wanted to achieve are also fulfilled.

Norman and Elizabeth have gone to jail, and Stella also lost her kid and her job, so all these should

come to an end, right? As Diane thought about the word ‘end’, her heart pounded so rapidly that she

started to feel suffocated. What should I do now?

This question had her stressed out for quite a number of days and throughout these few days,

Christopher had not returned even once. Looking at his current actions, Diane concluded that the man

only had eyes for Queenie. As soon as this thought popped up in her mind, she made up her mind that

it was time to make clear about her decision, so on the day when Christopher came back, she decided

to pass him something without any hesitation.

Christopher had not slept for days and he came back looking exhausted, dark circles under his

bloodshot eyes. He began unbuttoning his shirt right when he stepped into the room, looking as if he

wanted to take a shower immediately and have a good rest right after. However, right at this moment,

Diane handed over something which she had already prepared two days ago. “Let’s go get our divorce

procedure done,” she said peacefully.

Christopher’s fingers froze at the third button of his shirt when he lowered his head and looked at the

documents. Diane's gaze remained fixed at the words on the papers and she murmured, “I know there

isn’t any agreement needed between the two of us, but we should still go through the process so I

copied a template online. You may have a look to see if there is any problem. Also, I’ll return this credit

card back to you. I’ve spent it on buying my sister some clothes and I’ve also used it to pay for the fees

when my father was hospitalized. Don’t worry, though; I’ll return the rest of the money when I save up

enough.”

With that, she turned around and casually grabbed a gold card that was placed on top of the table

before handing it over to him. Both of the items presented to him carried the same meaning.

“You want a divorce?”

Christopher’s voice sounded hoarse with a touch of hidden repression, as he was feeling really

exhausted.

Diane lifted her head to look at his tired and dull face. After remaining silent for a short while, she gave

him a determined reply. “Yes. My wish has been fulfilled. Karma has served those who deserved it and

there’s nothing more that I want. You now have someone who is better suited to be by your side, so I

wanted to—”

“So you wanted to do what?” Christopher suddenly roared as he snatched the agreement away from

her.

His sudden outrage shook Diane to the core. As she was looking at him with widened eyes,

Christopher could clearly see his own furious expression reflected in her clear eyes.

“What did you want to do?” Christopher gritted out as he shook the agreement in front of her. He stared

her straight in the eye and growled, “So you wanted to kick me away after using me, right? Dream on,

Diane Cornell!”

As soon as he said that, he threw the paper right at Diane’s face and before she could even come

around to what had just happened, the agreement fell to the floor.

After shooting her a look, Christopher averted his gaze and left the room swiftly without a second

thought. Honestly, I myself don’t even know the reason behind my extreme frustration towards the

agreement and this woman’s overwhelmingly sensible words.
