A Kiss With The Alpha King
CHAPTER 8 FINAL THREAT
RHY’S
I tried to distract myself with my phone but even the internet was not entertaining at all. I dropped my phone on the table and yelled into a pillow. Mars had left with all the guards as I instructed and so, there was no one for me to take out my frustration on. Anxious for news and desperate for relief, I was tempted to run out of the room and lead the search myself.
Czar was not making the waiting any easier. He poked around inside me, refusing to settle down. I fought the urge to shift and go for a run. It usually helped to calm him in the past but I had to stay in the room that was feeling smaller and smaller by the hour. If Mars did not come back with news and
soon, I would not be held responsible for any actions I took. It was only fortunate that as the Alpha King, I owed no one any apologies.
Just as I was ready to take the entrance door off its hinges, Mars pushed the door open, wary of my
mood. RêAd lat𝙚St chapters at Novel(D)ra/ma.Org Only
“My Lord, I called for a meeting with the old Alpha’s councillors and war chiefs…”
“Spare me the tiny details and tell me you have found her, Mars!”
He bowed his head briefly in silence and that was worse than words. “No one knows who she is and. the guards have returned too. They could not find her either. I am sorry, my Lord.”
Somewhere in Clawride Pack, the solution to my oldest problem was walking freely and I was unable to search for her myself. Czar chose that moment to make a complaint and I grabbed my head, pulling at my locks in distress.
“Why won’t you settle down?” I growled at my stubborn wolf. “What do you want? Why her?”
Mine, Czar immediately replied, prepared to give me hell.
“Alpha, you are harming yourself,” Mars warned, concerned about my recent behaviour. Czar was getting impatient and I would have to shift soon.
Suddenly, a knock fell on my door. My struggle for control with Czar ended, my attention stolen by the distraction. Mars went out the door, leaving me to my inner battle. After a few minutes, he returned with a big smile on his face.
“There might be some hope after all, my Lord. You see, during the meeting, I noticed that General Zeke, one of Alpha Keller’s war chiefs was acting a bit off.”
“So?” Couldn’t he ever go straight to the point?

Mars frowned at my impatience but said nothing about it. He knew me too well to feel offended. “Well, he got up in the middle of the meeting and decided that he had something he had forgotten to do. I was suspicious of him and sent Emery after him, Emery is outside hopefully with some news.”
Czar relaxed and it felt like a heavy burden had been lifted off my shoulders. Mars had made an intelligent decision but I was not one to give compliments.
“I want to hear everything he has to say directly. When you speak to him, I will call you and you are to put your phone on speaker. If General Zeke is hiding information from me, I will skin him alive and feed his intestines to hyenas.”
It turned out that Emery had indeed heard a lot but not enough. I paced the room, listening to his conversation with Mars,
“Welcome back, Emery. Tell me everything.”
“General Zeke went home as he said but he was looking for someone. He met the new Luna instead and there is a chance, Beta Mars that someone with the exact description of the missing girl lives in his house.”
Mars was puzzled, stroking his chin thoughtfully. “That’s not possible. General Zeke said he has no maid. The person he was looking for, did he mention her name?“

If I had a name, the search would be way easier. I remembered asking for her name from her but had been stuttering without giving anything away.
“I’m sorry, Beta but they did not mention a name. However, he was initially looking for the Luna’s sister but I don’t know if they are the same person. Forgive me, Beta. I did not get as much information as I should have.”
“It was not your fault. You have done well, Emery. You may go to the guard room and have your meal.”
I heard nothing more over the phone for a while before Mars spoke up.
“You have heard him, my Lord. What next?” He did not have to wait long.
“You will go back to Alpha Keller and demand an audience with General Zeke. I want her found before our return to Plum Paradise. If we leave Clawride Pack now…” I cut myself short, unwilling to complete my sentence but I was sure Mars understood anyways.
If we left Clawride Pack, we might never find her and I would be an incomplete man for the rest of my life.

CHAPTER 8 FINAL THREAT
Alpha Keller did not refuse my request, immediately sending two guards to fetch Zeke. I wanted to be present for the interrogation so the host Alpha prepared a special room. I would sit in a dark booth and listen to the interrogation. He would not be able to see me and I would be twice as intimidating.
The door to the room burst open and two guards dragged in a reluctant Zeke. I knew him from the wars he fought for Clawride Pack in the past. He was a strong–willed man and a hard nut to crack.
“Take your hands off me! You will pay for this disrespect with your lives!” Zeke threatened the guards, baring his teeth at them. Asides me, other people in the room were Mars and Keller.
From where I sat, I could see the trembling of Zeke’s hands and the guilt shining in his eyes when
he saw his Alpha shaking his head in disappointment.
“Have a seat, General Zeke,” Mars offered, pointing to a stool in the middle of the room.
“I’d rather stand,” he fired back, folding his arms across his chest.
“It was not a request. Sit,” my Beta repeated, making his voice as hard as steel. Keller said nothing In his defence and the general obeyed eventually.
“You will answer my questions truthfully, General Zeke or you will have yourself to blame. Where is your daughter?”
He sat up at once, looking at his hands. “Ansley is at home with her mother.”
“Don’t play with my intelligence, General. I meant your other daughter, the one you rushed home to look for earlier today. Alpha Keller here fortunately has seen your daughter before and told me she is an exact match for the missing girl. Red streaks in her blonde hair, green eyes much like yours and in the age bracket.”
Zeke attempted a dry laugh, watching Mars surround his low stool. “I sent her to her aunt in
Crossroads Pack yesterday morning. Her mother’s sister is pregnant and needs assistance. I was so used to her being at home that I forgot she wasn’t. Therefore, it is not possible that it was my daughter who entered the Alpha King’s room.”
He could be lying but also, he could be saying the truth. However, I had no proof to contradict his story and neither did Mars. It was so frustrating that I could not wrap my fingers around his old neck and force him to tell the truth. I was helpless to change the situation and my throat itched with the need to howl. I snuck out of the booth through the exit door, hearing Mars‘ final threat.
“My Alpha will come after you if you are lying, Zeke. This is not over.”
Unable to control Czar anymore, I broke into a run and headed for the woods. Halfway there, I tore my clothes off, jumped into thin al landed on all fours. Czar was furious and destroyed trees as I
ran deep into the forest. When I could see the moon again, I sat on my hind legs and howled with my whole being, all hope los
