A Girl in My Life

2

While Suriel and I walked somewhere I watched everything attentively, it was so beautiful, so full of colours…

– Look Anael, this is where you will spend the night – says Suriel pointing forward, I follow the direction her finger points with my eyes.

– What is this? – I ask, even not knowing what it was, I was amazed at the beauty of the place.

– Here is the newcomers’ dormitory, you will have a cot to rest during the night and during the day you will prepare yourself to fulfill your mission – he says as we walk towards the “dormitory”.

– Listen, this is called a door – he says, showing me the door – it is used to guard the entrance and exit of the dormitory.

I nod my head positively to confirm that I understand, and we go through the door.

– In the dormitory there is only this corridor with four rooms. One for me, who is your commander and trainer, one for my helper and two that are divided with ten catres in each room – he explains before we stop in front of another “door” – This is room two, where you will stay with nine more apprentices, they will be your veterans… And explaining, they are four days older than you, that is why they are called veterans.

Suriel opens the door, now I can stand alone with my legs, I enter inside the room and observe carefully the room, the walls are salmon coloured, beside each catre there is a small bedside table, they are things I have never seen before, but somehow I know what they are.

– Our lord is slowly releasing the basic knowledge in his mind, young man – as if listening to my thoughts he gives me this answer – It is your catre Anael – he points me a catre next to a wall on the left side of the room.

My legs still tremble a little, but I already feel more confident to walk alone, with my arms opened to try to keep my body balanced, I take short steps until I arrive at the cot destined to me. I sit on it and now I observe Suriel:

He is big, he is wearing a ( I think) silver outfit, it covers his arms and chest, his waist and legs.

– That is an Anael armor, the warrior angels use them – he says when he realizes that I was watching him.

I do not say anything, I continue watching him and I see that in his back there is something big, they seem to be soft, and white.

– That is called wings Anael – he answers me even without my asking, I think I am not the only one observing here.

I look at my back and I don’t see these “wings”.

“Why don’t I have wings?” – I mentally ask myself with a frown.

– You will still get them – I look at Suriel again – An angel is not born with wings, they get them after four weeks of their birth.

– Why is that? – I ask confused.

-You designated this time for us to get used to our bodies, having total control over them before we learned to use our wings.

I shake my head positively when I feel my stomach twitch and a strange sound echoes from within it.

-Wait for me here, I’ll bring some things for you- Suriel says walking out the bedroom door.

I hug my stomach as I feel the pain increase. What is it?

Still hugging my belly, I lie down on the cot and bend my knees, I close my eyes hoping this pain will pass and I feel this pain diminishing to the point that I see everything getting darker and darker.

– Anael! Anael! Wake up! – “Boo” I feel my head hurts. I open my eyes quickly and I see that I’m on the floor and I hit my head on the floor.

I stand up from the floor rubbing with the palm of my hand the place that had direct contact with the floor. I look at Suriel and he hands me something, white.

– This is a bag, I brought robes for you to cover your nakedness.

I look at my body and realize that there’s nothing covering it, I hadn’t noticed that, even if seeing Suriel dressed, I don’t miss anything on me. I take the bag from Suriel’s hand and look inside, I take out from inside the bag: something black with fat and long legs.

I look curiously at the garment in my hands.

– This in your hands is called trousers – says Suriel watching me while she approaches me – Do you see these two holes inside this bigger one in your hands? – I confirm with my head – You will pass one of your feathers in each one of the holes and the big hole you will put in your hip.

I do as Suriel told me, I pass my right leg through one of the holes and the left leg through the other and raise the trousers to my hip.

– Good! Very well, you learn fast, Anael – Suriel gives two pats on my back – In this other bag there is food – he extends in his hand another raft.

I take it and open it, I go taking the things and Suriel goes telling me the names. Inside the bag there were: apples, pears, strawberries, tangerines, grapes and cashew nuts.

I didn’t have time to taste the fruits, because as soon as I smelled them my stomach made those strange sounds again and I think it was by instinct, I put one fruit after another in my mouth.

“Chew it slowly so you don’t choke my son” – I hear the gentleman’s voice, I look around but I don’t see him, am I hearing things?

When I finished I saw the smiling look that Suriel had on his face, but he didn’t say anything.

– Now rest Anael, tomorrow you will have a long day -says taking the bags.

-But I was just born! – I protest even though I feel my eyes heavy, I don’t want to sleep, I know there are still many things that my eyes have not seen yet.

– Rest – he speaks more firmly and leaves the room closing the door.

Without options I lay down again on the cot; soon I feel my eyes heavier and heavier… I close them until I can’t see anything anymore.Belonging © NôvelDram/a.Org.
