Sunlight streamed through the gap in the curtains, falling directly on my face. I groaned sleepily and snuggled closer into the pillow, pulling the sheets up to cover my face. But the sudden coldness I felt that hadn’t been there last night forced me to open my eyes.
The first thing I spotted was a crack on ceiling, traveling down the wall to the door. Then thin curtains and a cream wallpaper. In confusion I sat up straight and looked around, noticing everything around me was unfamiliar.
I pulled the covers away to stand up on my feet but then gasped loudly seeing the cloth on my body. It was a man’s shirt. It was Ian’s shirt!
Suddenly all of yesterday’s memories came reeling back to me and my gaze instantly fell on to the bed beside me. But it was empty. No sign of Ian. I threw the pillow away to see if his wallet or phone was under but no. Both of them were gone.
Then another gasp escaped my lips as realisation dawned upon me.
He left me. That asshole left me in the middle of nowhere.
“Fuck!” I slammed my fist against the bed and was about to scream when the door flew open.
“You’re awake” Ian walked in, wearing a brown trenchcoat over a black turtle neck sweater. He had black shoes on with a coffee in one hand and a bag in the other. This was the most casual I’d ever seen him and he was looking drop dead gorgeous. Perfection. Hella hot. Too hot. Damn hot. Definition of handsome-
“Don’t stare”
“What?” I glanced up.
“Don’t stare. This isn’t my best choice of clothing and I’m already embarrassed”
My jaw fell open. “Are you serious? You look-” shut up Hailey shut up. You don’t need to boost his ego. “I mean-” I cleared my throat. “Why did you leave me?”
“I didn’t leave you” He approached the bed and sat on it. “I went to get these” He gestured to the cup of coffee and the bag.
“What’s in there?” I asked, jerking my chin towards the bag.
“Clothes for you” Ian handed me the bag and I opened it. Inside were a pair of white pants and v neck long sleeve black top.
“Not my best choice of clothes either”
I smiled. “I love it”
“Thank God” Ian exhaled in relief and I chuckled.
“Where did you get them?”
“I asked Daniel to bring them”
My eyes widened. “He’s here?”
Ian nodded. “Our escort is ready. Get dressed. I’ll wait outside” Ian stood up and walked out the door, closing it after him.
Changing out of Ian’s shirt I got dressed into the new clothes he brought. I raked my fingers through my hair and tidied myself before walking out. Ian stood waiting, leaning against the wall, drinking his coffee.
“Here, your shirt” I extended the bag to him.
“Keep it” He straightened up and began walking down the stairs.
“What would I do with your shirt?”
“Wear it when you miss me”
I scoffed. “You’re insane to the point that-” I came to an abrupt halt seeing three black cars parked in the driveway with Daniel standing in front of the middle one.
“Are those all here to escort us?”
Ian nodded.
“Why three cars?”
“Because I’m a VIP”
I rolled my eyes heavenward. “Why did I even bother asking” I muttered as I followed him to the middle car.
“Good morning sir” Daniel opened the backseat door and without responding to him Ian climbed into the car.
Awkwardly, I smiled. “Hi” But Daniel obviously didn’t greet me back. He just opened the door wider, urging me to climb in.
How rude.
As I got in Daniel closed the door and climbed on to the passenger seat. “Sir, are we going to the hotel?”
Ian scrolled through his phone. “No, straight to the airport”
“What?” I snapped my head at him. “Why aren’t we going to the hotel? I have a workshop”
“Others in the marketing will take care of it” Ian said while tapping on his phone.
“No. I have to go. Our VP will kill me” I said in horror.
“No, she won’t. You’re the CEO’s fiance”
“That’s why she’s going to kill me” I yelled but Ian casually leaned back on the seat, his eyes still fixed to his phone.
“Sleep”
“I already slept” I hissed angrily.
“Then sleep again”
“I hate you”
“Okay”
…
“My God” I gasped, staring at the black private jet that was much larger than the size I’ve seen in movies. It was long and had streaks of silver around the jet engine and on it’s wings.
“This is beautiful” I whispered in awe. “Anything in your life that is not black?”
“The trenchcoat I’m currently wearing”
“I figured” I nodded and sprinted towards the steps of the private jet.
Hastily I climbed it up and gasped again seeing the interior of it. “Omg I love this” I squealed in joy and Ian chuckled as he climbed up the steps.
I strolled inside and sat down on a comfortable chair by the window. Ian came inside and removed his trench coat before taking a seat across from me.
Two flight attendants came and greeted us greeted Ian actually. Then left after informing me to buckle up as the flight took off. I saw them glancing at me more than once but I cared less. I was too excited to be inside a private jet.
“So how much is this?”
“What?” Ian raised a brow.
“The jet”
Ian chuckled. “Are you planning on buying one?”
“Oh c’mon you know it’s impossible for a poor soul like me”
“Well” Ian leaned forward with a teasing smirk playing on his lips. “I’ll write this under your name if you marry me”
I gasped dramatically, keeping a hand over my heart. “Say that one more time and I’ll actually marry you”
Ian threw his head back and laughed, his eyes tearing up. “You’re a different breed Hailey”
“Aww thank you” I batted my eyelashes and leaned back on the seat, my eyes wandering around the jet.
“Sleep, it’s a long flight”
I shot him a glare. “Why do you always want me to sleep?” I narrowed my eyes suspiciously. “What’s the catch?”
“There’s no catch. I just don’t want you to get exhausted”
“Oh shut up” I groaned. “Why say such cheesy things? I’m cringing so hard”
Ian chuckled. “How is it cringy? Isn’t it romantic?”Content © provided by NôvelDrama.Org.
I gaped at him. “What? No, it’s not romantic. And what do you know about romance? You’ve never even kissed before”
“Ouch. That hurts”
I stole a glance at him from sideways to see if he was really hurt by my words but he was grinning.
“What? Checking on me to see if I was hurt?”
“W-what?” I coughed. “Of course not” I unbuckled and stood up. “Where’s the bedroom?” I asked to save myself from this conversation.
Ian pointed towards a direction and I followed it. “Bye. Wake me up when the jet is about to land”
…
We arrived in NYC after a 6 hour long flight and now I was inside Ian’s car as he drove me to Lexi’s apartment.
“Here here” I pointed to a road. “Turn the car. We can go to Lexi’s apartment from here”
“We are not going to Lexi’s apartment” Ian stepped on the gas and accelerated the car, taking us further away from Lexi’s.
“Then where are we going?”
“To my penthouse”
My jaw fell open. “Why?”
“Because that’s our home”
I scoffed in disbelief. “I’m gonna jump off the car if you don’t stop”
Ian’s lips curled into a lop sided smile. “Feel free to jump. I’m not stopping you”
Attempting to suppress my anger, I set my jaw and turned away from him, my arms folded across my chest. “I hate you” I mumbled.
Ian drove us to the Prescott’s and we took the elevator to his penthouse. As we reached there Ian opened the door and reluctantly I followed him inside. I sauntered over to the couch and sat on it, putting one leg over the other, trying to look intimidating.
“You can’t force me to live here”
“I’m not forcing you” He sat across from me.
“You are”
Ian sighed. “Then what do you want me to do to make you live here?”
My eyes widened at his question. Is he really asking me that? Omg progress!
I cleared my throat and sat straight but on the inside, I was jumping up and down in joy. “Tell me a way out of this engagement”
“There’s no way out”
“There has to be. And if you don’t say it, I won’t live here”
Ian sighed and chewed on his bottom lip, pondering for a while.
Yes yes he’s thinking. That’s a good sign. You finally won Hailey.
“Fine” He nodded. “There’s a way out”
Yesss!!!
“What is it?” I leaned forward in excitement, impatient to hear his next words.
And then Ian fucking Kingston smirked.
“Make me fall in love with another woman”
