The Billionaire's Mistake (Anya and Daniel)

MISTAKE 98

Chapter 98 Caling Richard

Pushing himself up against the headboard, Martin tried to clear his head. “What are you talking about?” He could hear his own heart pounding in his ears as he waited for the answer.

“You handed your neice over to my son,” James spat out the words like they tasted bitter,” and now my son has been taken away by mercenaries! Did you think you could mess with my family and my business without consequences?”

Martin felt like someone had dumped a bucket of ice water over him. His mouth went dry as he struggled to understand what he was hearing. “I never meant for any harm to come to your son,” he protested, his voice shaking slightly. “I only arranged a marriage. That’s all it was supposed to be!”

Chapter 99: Planning her Escape.

A harsh laugh came through the phone–the kind of laugh that had no happiness in it at all. “A marriage? What do you think this is–some old–fashioned TV drama? My son was taken from his own home by force because of what you did. trusted you, Martin!”

The weight of what was happening started to sink in. Martin’s hands were trembling as he held the phone. The city lights outside his window seemed to blur as his mind raced, trying to make sense of everything. “I swear, I didn’t hire any mercenaries,” he insisted, desperation creeping into his voice. “All I did was tell your son he should marry my niece. Nothing more than that!”

“You expect me to believe that?” James’s voice dripped with disbelief and anger. “Your niece’s husband–my son has been kidnapped, and now my company is under attack. There will be

consequences for this, Martin. You’ve gone too far this time, and I promise you’ll regret it. Both you and your business are going to pay for what you’ve done.”

Fear crawled up Martin’s spine like an icy spider. All the business connections and friendships he’d built over the years–everything that made his company strong–seemed to be falling apart right before his eyes. He had tried to use his niece’s marriage as a way to make more money and gain more power, but now that plan was exploding in his face like a bomb he’d set himself.

“Please,” Martin begged, not caring how pathetic he sounded, “I didn’t order any attack. I never wanted your son to get hurt. Let me help fix this. I’ll do anything to find him and make this right!”

But James wasn’t interested in Martin’s promises anymore. “It’s too late for that,” he said coldly. “What’s done is done. Now you’ll have to face what comes next.” The phone call ended with a click that seemed to echo in Martin’s ears like a gunshot. This is from NôvelDrama.Org.

Emma’s footsteps echoed through the halls of the big house as she walked quickly. Her heart. was racing, but she knew what she had to do. She slipped into her husband’s office, looking for the marriage contract he’d taken from her right after their wedding.

Chapter 96. Planning her Escape

The office was full of expensive things she didn’t care about anymore. All that mattered wast finding that document so she could break free. Her hands were shaking as she searched through the drawers and files. In the dim light, she found what she was looking for–the marriage contract, plus some surprising extras an ultrasound picture and bank statements. Knowing these might be important later, she took pictures of everything with her phone before putting them back exactly where she found them.

Time seemed to slow down as Emma carefully put everything back in place. She knew her discoveries could change everything.

Leaving the office, Emma felt the weight of what she’d found. Each document told its own story–the marriage contract that kept her trapped, the mysterious ultrasound, and the bank records that showed things her husband had hidden.

Emma hadn’t expected to find so much. Maybe they’d underestimated her all along.

The pictures on her phone weren’t just photos; they were proof that she was brave enough to fight back and take control of her life.

Instead of going back to her room, where the house staff might notice something was wrong, she went to her son’s playroom. As soon as she walked in, she picked up one of his stuffed animals, finding comfort in its softness. But when she turned to leave, she came face to face with her mother–in–law.

The older woman had never liked Emma, and she was even cold toward her own grandson. She wouldn’t hold him or show him any love, and she’d yell at him if he got too close. As a mom, Emma hated seeing her son treated this way.

Usually, Emma would just look down and stay quiet around her mother–in–law, thinking she’d have to put up with this forever. But today was different. The pictures hidden in her clothes gave her courage.

Emma looked straight at her mother–in–law, showing she wasn’t afraid.

anymore.

The tension in the room grew thick as her mother–in–law stared her down.

“Where’s my grandson?” Her mother–in–law demanded sharply.

Emma’s jaw tightened as she remembered all the bad things that had happened. “He’s not here,” she said quietly but firmly.

Her mother–in–law made a harsh laughing sound. “Don’t play games with me. Where is he?”

Emma felt a surge of bravery and stepped forward. “I won’t let you near him again. Not after

what you’ve done.”

The words hung heavy in the air. Both women knew about the pain that had been caused.

Emma’s chest hurt as she thought about how cruel her mother–in–law had been to her little

boy.

“How dare you accuse me?” Her mother–in–law snapped. “Don’t forget whose house you’re living in!”

Emma’s eyes flashed with anger. She wasn’t backing down this time. “I’ve seen how you treat him. I’ve watched it happen. It stops now.”

“You’re making things up,” her mother–in–law said with a mean laugh. “He needs discipline. He’s spoiled.”

“Discipline? What you do isn’t discipline; it’s abuse. And you’ve gone too far,” Emma fired

back.
