MISTAKE 201
Chapter 201: Connection
Kelly’s words almost made her forget that Daniel and Mark Hartley know each other.
“You know Mark Hartley?” she asked and he paused, before nodding. Her anger flared and Daniel glanced at those in the room to find that many were still listening.
“Since when?” she asked, not caring about any of these.
“Let us talk after you have been moved to a more private room. A lot of thoughts crossed Anya’s mind.
She wondered, if they knew each other, then what was this about Mark asking her to talk to him about a deal. Was this a trap?
She recalled her first conversation with Mark Hartley. He talked as though he had no
relationship with Daniel. He talked as though he wanted her to pave the way for him. After all that, they knew each other?
She recalled when she had pretended to be Daniel’s wife and had ordered the staff at the hotel to open the gardens for Mark. Were they playing with her?
How long was he going to pretend? When she had first met him, he had even bargained that she could use his name with Mark Hartley. That is why she agree to even live with him.
“There is no need for a private room. I am not crippled. I am going home,” she said. She wanted to leave. She felt suffocated.
“Anya,” he started to say.
“I want to leave,” she insisted. He could tell she was angry and knew to not provoke her.
“Fine.” he said and asked Cynthia to bring a wheelchair. And she did so. He carried her and placed on it.
“When can she leave?” He asked the doctor who was now attending to another patient.
“She can leave now. Just make sure her wound does not touch water.
“Okay,” he nodded to Cynthia to handle the procedures while he wheeled her out.
Her silence was suffocating him. Têxt © NôvelDrama.Org.
“If we are going to talk about my wrongs, we should also talk about yours,” he said.
“What do you mean?” Anya asked with a frown, looking up at the man pushing her around.
“You know what I mean. Someone posted something about you and you did not think to come. to me and ask me to take it down?” he asked heatedly.
“But why should I come to you for this, it is my personal matter,” she snorted.

“Fine, since it is your personal matter, why were there policemen in my company? Why is the head of human resources in police custody?” he asked.
“What? You would have preferred if I had called you and cried?” she asked.
“Yes,” he answered.
“I handled it this way so that we don’t get unnecessarily tangled at work. Isn’t it better if less people know we are related in any way? I still want to work in this company after two months!” Anya insisted.
“And what difference does this make? You have now revealed it to your friend and the new head of human resources. Isn’t this better? You could have called me and let me know even if
you did not want to walk all the way to my office and risk being seen by others. That is what phones are for!” he scolded.
“Why are you scolding me? Everything happens so fast and I had to be taken to the hospital. Besides, you are the one that insisted that I follow you to work,” she said angrily. For some reason, her temper was bad these days.
“I really do not understand why you could not just pick up the phone. Do you know how it felt trying to reach you but being unable to?” he asked.
He reduced his voice when he felt her temper rise. He also had noticed her temper was bad these days and did not want to push her.
“What I do not understand is why you have to shout at me after what I went through,” she scolded back.
He could not find the words. How could he explain what it felt like to be in love to someone? If someone had told him he would be in this situation years ago, he would have laughed them off.
“Do you know that you are odd? Most people would want their husbands to be this clingy. Why doe sit feel like I am stressing you? Why are you so odd?” he asked. He was genuinely curious.
He had thought that after having her fall in love with him, he could monopolize her, but she sure was defiant. He was not even sure how to make this possible, but how could he still be cautious
after this long? Was he over expecting? After all, he has hurt her not too long ago. Had she not gotten over it? Why was his woman odd?
“So I should also tie you to my side all the time? Why do I feel you are getting delusional?” she
asked.
“And what is wrong with being delusional?” he said in frustration, running a hand through hís hair. He admitted that his obsession with her had not gone away.
He walked in front of her, leaned in, placing his hand to either sides of her, grabbing unto the hand rest wile trapping her inside.
“Anya, I can’t keep sane all the time. It is easier for you stop resisting but it would be easier

for me to function if you understood that there is no way I am leaving your side again. I would be able to stay sane and not do something that would make it impossible for both of us to have harmony,” he said. She was severely bothered by how close he was.
“What do you mean?” she asked.
“it means I am in love with you and maybe I have a little fear in Me, but I am keeping you
close” he answered.
“Because of I left before?” she asked slightly uncomfortable. He was obviously the one who hurt her, why is he traumatized?
“Because you could leave again. People get divorced for different reasons and we have already done that. I don’t want to do it again.” he said, his voice low in his chest, sending chills down her spine and spooking the butterflies in her tummy into a frenzy. She had a feeling that this
man wanted to eat her raw.
While his Assistant, Cynthia handled the procedures, He and Anya waited. He had been watching her all day. A little while into noon she had eaten and gone to sleep. He was grateful that she was not feeling much pain. She at this moment had woken up and was sipping on
some ice tea while she scrolled through her phone.
“Don’t scroll too long, Anya,” Daniel murmured, his voice low and full of concern. “You will hurt your eyes. Rest a bit, Cynthia should be done soon.”
Anya managed a weak smile, her eyes finally looking his way as he brought over her jacket to help her wear it. “I am only looking, how will it hurt my eyes? You sound like a mother,” she
muttered.
Daniel raised his brows, a soft smile adorning his face as he said, “You really are bad at taking care of yourself. You don’t even know it will hurt your eyes, or you don’t‘ even care. You sound
like a child.”
Anya folded her arms and harrumphed as she ignored him and kept scrolling despite his previous words. “You’re here now, Daniel. That’s all that matters.” she truly looked like a child when she did this, Daniel became slightly obsessed with her cute demeanor.
He glanced at her injured leg and carefully carried her off the bed. He quite liked how she just accepted it without protest when he carried her. The nurses had returned with a wheel chair for her
and he placed her down, helping her sit well.
Daniel wheeled Anya out of the hospital room in a wheelchair, her feet propped up on a cushion, his gaze never leaving her fragile form.
Once they reached the hospital entrance, Daniel helped Anya out of the wheelchair and into his waiting car. She winced as she tried to put weight on her injured feet, but Daniel frowned and sent her a look full of warning and she sat back down.
“Don’t move,” he said gently, scooping her up in his arms and carrying her to the back seat of
