Substitute Bride and Her Husband Who Disappeared

Chapter 159: Swapping?

Since that night, Nancy had felt a shift in Charlie's feelings toward her. Their relationship had moved from a flirtation to something more profound - real love.

Vivian's shadow had always been a third presence in their relationship, but now, it seemed to have vanished. Charlie's affections felt genuine, not like a performance anymore. Back in their room after freshening up, Nancy lay in Charlie's arms, and Nancy toyed with his pajama buttons, listening to his gentle murmurings.

"Charlie..." She began.

"Mmm?" He replied, eyes still closed.RêAd lat𝙚St chapters at Novel(D)ra/ma.Org Only

She lifted her head to look at him, his warm breath brushing her forehead. In a playful mood, she poked his chin with her finger.

Charlie opened his eyes, his intense gaze meeting hers. "What's up?"

"Um..."

"Um..." Nancy's voice was soft, almost pleading. "We're heading back to Nustin tomorrow. Could you fly back alone? I want to travel with Vivian and Luna."

Charlie was no fool; he had seen Nancy and Luna talking for half an hour. He could guess the topic of their discussion.

"Swapping?" He asked, a faint smile on his lips.

"Huh?"

"Huh?" Nancy was taken aback. She hadn't expected him to figure it out so quickly. Seeing the smile on his face, her anxiety eased.

"Yes, we're switching tomorrow. Vivian has yet to learn about us. If she sees you, she'll flip out. And that could put my dad in danger." "Okay." Charlie agreed without a second thought.

Nancy was surprised. She had prepared a whole speech to convince him, but he hadn't even needed to hear it.

Charlie took her hand, gently brushing his fingers over her bracelet. "Keep this on. I'll be keeping an eye out. If anything happens, I'll be there."

Nancy understood the importance of that bracelet. It had saved her once before.

She laughed softly, tilting her head up to plant a kiss on his chin. "Alright, I'll always keep it on. Once I've got my dad, I'll come find you."

Charlie chuckled, pulling her close and closing his eyes. They fell asleep wrapped in each other's arms.

...

The following day, Nancy woke up early for her flight. She packed swiftly and was soon on her way with her luggage.

When she got to the car, Vivian and Luna were already there.

Luna glanced at her knowingly, but her greeting was not as warm as usual.

Nancy got the message. After loading her suitcase into the trunk, she climbed into the car next to Vivian.

Vivian looked awful, like someone who hadn't slept well for days. She had lost weight, and her eyes were sunken, evident signs of emotional distress. Nancy just glanced at her, and then stared straight ahead,

"Nancy, you're a real superstar now," Vivian spat out, breaking the silence with venom. "How did it feel, playing the movie star? Bet you loved being queen bee on set."

She scoffed, her green eyes filled with envy. "Don't get ahead of yourself. Just because you had a

role in a film doesn't mean you're my equal You're nothing. Without my name, you'd be less than nothing to them."
