Janet's heart suddenly skipped a beat, and wave of overwhelming panic washed over her. Something was terribly wrong- she could feel it-and whatever it was, she wasn't prepared to face it.

She turned to her mother, who stood nearby, silently crying. Janet tried to push down the rising terror in her chest and asked in a trembling voice, "Mom, what's going on? Please, don't scare me. What happened?" Through her tears, Roselyn choked out, "Janet, our company... It's bankrupt."
