My Toyboy 97
The next second, Naomi pulled Cynthia into her arms and said, I missed you, Cynthia.”
“So do I, Naomi,” Cynthia replied.
They hugged each other tightly, regardless of the strange looks from many people around them. After a brief hug. Naomi let go of Cynthia and said, “Come with me.”
Cynthia followed Naomi into the Sullivan residence and went upstairs. Five minutes later, Cynthia sat on the couch in Naomi’s room. After the door was closed, all sounds and liveliness were cut off.
Naomi had not yet recovered from the surprise. “Why didn’t you tell me you were coming to Betrico? If I had known, I would have met you at the airport,” she said.
Cynthia smiled and replied, “I’m on a business trip now. I came here by chance.”
Naomi noticed the lilies beside Cynthia and walked over to take the bouquet. “Is this for me?” Naomi asked.
However, Cynthia snatched the bouquet back before saying, “No Someone entrusted me to give this bouquet to Ms. Nina Sullivan. Be careful not to damage it. By the way, which daughter in your family is having her birthday today?”
Naomi suddenly frowned, and her expression became serious as she asked, “Entrusted by someone? By who?”
Cynthia also seemed to sense that something was off. “It’s Whitney, the chairwoman of Betrico Multimedia,” she replied.
Naomi stood up and threw the flowers into the trash can.
“What are you doing? Why did you throw it away?” Cynthia exclaimed.
Naomi turned and poured two glasses of red wine. She wore men’s pajamas made of pure silk with black and white trim hanging loosely on her body. However, the outfit was not unattractive; instead, it made her look like a casual playboy.
She had neat, slicked–back short hair that made her look spirited. Though it was obvious she was a girl at first glance, she appeared extraordinarily handsome.
Naomi handed Cynthia a glass of red wine and leaned against her. “If you hadn’t met me today, you would have been in big
trouble. Naomi stated.
Cynthia was confused and asked, “What exactly is going on?”
Naomi took a slow sip of red wine and said, “Today is my Nina’s birthday, my cousin, but she’s allergic to lilies. If you really gave her the lilies, it would trigger her asthma, Who would be responsible if something bad happened?”
Then, she looked at Cynthia and commented, “Idiot. Someone has used you.”
Cynthia’s expression became serious. A lot of information flashed through her mind. The word “Niña” on Jonathan’s phone flashed in her mind. She thought to herself, ‘Nina? Could there be such a coincidence? Cynthia then asked, “Why would Whitney do this? Why would she do such a thing to a younger person? It’s so disgraceful.”
Naomi sighed before saying. “It’s complicated. You don’t understand the love and the hatred involved.” Naomi explained for a long time, and Cynthia finally understood all kinds of relationships.
It turned out that the Bennett and Sullivan families were related by marriage. Whitney’s ex– husband was Aaron Sullivan from the second branch of the Sullivan family, and they had a son named Preston Sullivan.
However, Whitney and Aaron had divorced shortly after Preston’s birth. Just three months after the divorce, Aaron married his current wife, Yuliana Sullivan. At the time of their marriage, Yuliana was already five months pregnant.
In other words, Aaron had already had an affair with Yuliana while still married to Whitney. Whitney remained ruthless toward the mother–daughter duo.
Yuliana had no background and was merely a G–list celebrity in her youth. If it hadn’t been for Aaron, who had tirelessly protected the mother–daughter duo all those years, they would have been long gone.
When Cynthia heard that, she broke into a cold sweat. There were indeed many hidden stories behind prominent families.
Meanwhile, Naomi had finished her glass of wine, but there were more stories to share. Just yesterday, Nina had a car accident, and it seems the eldest daughter of the Bennett family was responsible,” she added.
Something flashed through Cynthia’s mind. “How’s Nina?” she asked.
When Naomi saw Cynthia’s serious expression, she explained, ‘Of course she’s fine. Otherwise, there wouldn’t be a birthday party today. Don’t worry about Nina; she has strong backing. She could marry into the Bennett family and be on equal footing with Whitney. By then, Whitney would probably be furious.”
The idea in Cynthia’s mind had already taken shape, “Is Jonathan her backer?” she asked.
Naomi was surprised and asked. “You’ve also heard of Mr. Bennett of Betrico?”
Cynthia felt her heart finally sink a little, and her face darkened,
Naomi also noticed that something was wrong with Cynthia’s expression. She then turned to Cynthia and asked, “Do you know Mr. Bennett?” Material © of NôvelDrama.Org.
Cynthia did not answer Naomi’s question; instead, she asked, “What is the relationship between Jonathan and Nina?”
“What else? There’s only one relationship between a man and a woman. You’ve probably heard about the terrible relationship between Ms. Bennett and Mr. Bennett. To describe them as enemies is not an exaggeration. It is said that when Mr. Bennett was young. Whitney tried to kill him several times but failed, Naomi explained.
Cynthia could feel her heart pounding. She had heard things were bad between Whitney and Jonathan, but she had not expected it to be so bad. “Why?” Cynthia asked.
“Who knows? Mr. Bennett and Mrs. Bennett had their son, Mr. Jonathan Bennett, late in life–19 years after the birth of his sister, Ms. Whitney Bennett. His arrival likely prevented the capable Ms. Bennett from inheriting the family business. No wonder she resents him,” Naomi elaborated.
“Even so, she doesn’t have to kill him. He’s her younger brother, after all, Cynthia commented.
Naomi shook her head and said, “There could be other reasons. Betrico’s elite families put their interests ahead of family. The Bennett family heads the four most prestigious families. The Xenos family has left the country. The combined wealth of the Sexton and Sullivan families is far less than a fraction of the Bennett family’s. The Bennett family has very complex affairs.” Naomi sighed.
Cynthia frowned when she heard Naomi’s explanation.
Naomi seemed to sense that something was wrong. So, she asked, “You never gossip. Why are you so concerned about the Bennett family’s affair today?”
Before Cynthia could speak, fireworks suddenly burst outside. The fiery red fireworks burned like flames in the sky before falling
Cynthia unconsciously said, “It’s Burning Rose.” With that, she got up and walked to the window. Naomi’s room had a floor- to–ceiling glass window. It was lively outside, and the fireworks in the night sky made the night as bright as day.
Naomi looked at Cynthia, who was in a daze. She thought, “Cynthia likes to watch those fireworks. Theh, Naomi grabbed Cynthia’s arm and said, “What’s the point of watching the fireworks through the window? Let’s go outside and join the fun.”
