Chapter 41: The first hall on the left of the fourth floor
The two women who were gossiping about Allyce were shocked.
They looked in the mirror and saw Allyce standing behind them and yelped in surprise as a box of powder fell from the hands of one of the women.
“You …. How did you do it? …. When did you …”
Both women had a distinctive appearance.
One was as thin as a bamboo cane, flat and shapeless, with an ass as flat as her breasts.
The other was short and fat, like a potato.
The fat woman who said “women like her are very skilful in bed” said with surprise.
Allyce took two steps forward, lifted her chin out of habit and looked the plump woman up and down.
The fat one only came up to Allyce’s chin, even though she was wearing high heels and Allyce was wearing flats.
Allyce seemed to mock her height; she didn’t like anyone noticing her.
“What are you looking at?” With a lower head than Allyce, he stood in front of her and tried to look intimidating, but failed miserably.
“Repeat those words. Allyce folded her arms; her beautiful eyes narrowed slightly. It was hard to read her expression; she looked cold and careless.
His simple but elegant attire added to his intimidating aura.
The tall, thin woman suddenly stepped forward, trying unsuccessfully to hide the shorter man behind her. You … Have you no manners? How can you hide in the bathroom and spy on people?”
“Hide?” Allyce cocked her head to one side and looked at her with a raised eyebrow. I’m sorry, ma’am, but the bathroom is a public place. People don’t come in here to eavesdrop on each other’s conversations. Besides, if you’re okay with gossiping in here, you shouldn’t be afraid of getting caught.”
“You …”
Allyce gave them a cold look. Not wanting to waste any more time with them, she stepped back and leaned quietly against the wall. But interesting conversations should be shared with everyone. Now that I’ve recorded the two of you talking, I’ll take it into the living room for everyone to hear and enjoy.
Allyce’s lips curved into a mischievous smile. Then she was out the door with long strides.
The two women stared at the closed door for a few seconds, still wide-eyed with surprise, before grabbing their things and standing up to Allyce.
As soon as they ran down the corridor they spotted Allyce in the distance. there was no one else there so they shouted at Allyce’s back, “Stop!”
Allyce didn’t stop when she heard shouting behind her.
They ran and caught up with Allyce.
“Mrs. Betances, listen, we have something to say …”
“Listen, you’d better keep your head down and don’t draw attention to yourself, who knows what else might come out in public.”
They tried to threaten Allyce, suggesting that unless he kept quiet, they could easily start other rumours in the company.
Betances, the vice-president, is well known in the company for his coldness. Although he never loses his temper or shouts at people, when he looks at them coldly it is enough to scare people.
If Allyce played that recording, they would be in a terrible position. They would probably be fired from the company and finding a new job would not be easy.
Allyce gave them a cold look and raised an eyebrow: “Are you done? Can I go now?”
“You …”
Allyce looked behind them and saw Neto’s secretary and a female executive walking towards them.
She pursed her lips to dispel the coldness in her eyes as she set them down and stood there, looking subdued and frightened. No matter what the women told her, Allyce kept her head down and her eyes fixed on the ground, looking as if she was being bullied.
Neto’s secretary saw Allyce standing like that and came over: “What are you doing?
What she saw was the two employees blocking Allyce’s way, telling her that and not letting her go; Allyce looked embarrassed but couldn’t leave without looking rude, so she had to stand there and listen to them.
“We were talking to Mrs Betances …”
The two women were nervous when they saw Neto’s secretary. They hadn’t seen her coming and now when they looked at Allyce she no longer had that cold look on her face.
Then they realised that they had been tricked by Allyce.
“Do you need to go to the bathroom too?” Allyce smiled and looked at the secretary before adding, “It’s just ….”
His sentence was incomplete and he smiled helplessly. Incomplete sentences made people fill in the blanks with their own opinions and impressions.
Both were women. Allyce was Severo’s wife and was popular in the company. What could two women say to her in a cold corridor away from people’s eyes.
“Then you should hurry back to the lounge, before Mr. Betances comes out to you.” The secretary nodded politely to Allyce and headed for the bathroom.
As soon as the secretary and the executive entered the bathroom, Allyce’s smile disappeared and her cool demeanour returned.
Feeling like fools, the two women carefully followed her into the living room, hoping she wouldn’t play the recording.
Suddenly, Severo came out of a corner and approached them.
Severo reached out and grabbed her around the waist, looked behind her with a significant gleam in his eye and asked, “What took you so long?
The corners of Allyce’s mouth twitched into a faint smile as Severo’s words made her think she had seen what had just happened.
Without waiting for Allyce to respond, Severo pulled her close and started walking. It’s late. Let’s go home. I said goodbye to Neto.
Allyce replied lazily: “OK.
Then, mischievously, he looked back at the women and raised his hand with the phone.
Indeed, both women blushed profusely.
Walking towards Kimdis’ door, Allyce disengaged from Severo.
Severo let her go easily, without much thought. He looked at her with a slight smile and said: “Was it fun?
“… ” Allyce pursed her lips, a little embarrassed and a little annoyed. Unsurprisingly, he had seen what she had done.
Seeing her like this widened Severo’s smile.NôvelDrama.Org holds this content.
Severo’s tone rescued her from this embarrassment.
Seeing him looking at his phone, Allyce quickly hailed a taxi and jumped in. However, before getting into the taxi, she made a childish face at him, sticking out her tongue and saying, “I’ll come back on my own”.
Severo froze for a moment, his expression unreadable. Then he smiled and picked up the phone as the taxi drove away.
He hung up the phone and looked back at Kimdis.
Sitting in the taxi, Allyce glanced back several times, checking to see if Severo was following her. Slowly, she relaxed. Touching her wrist out of habit, she realised that something was missing.
He had left his watch in the living room. He had taken it off during dinner.
She thought about calling Severo to bring him back, but then she remembered his teasing of her. Allyce’s expression darkened and she asked the driver, “Can you give me a ride back from where you picked me up? I forgot something there.
Back at Kimdis, Allyce is a little confused. Earlier, Severo had taken her to the living room. Had they gone up to the third or fourth floor?
“I think it was the fourth floor.” muttered Allyce as she pressed the button for the fourth floor of the lift.
It was on the fourth floor, in the first room on the left.
Without thinking, Allyce pushed open the door to the living room and entered. The room was empty, except for three people.
A man whose face could not be seen clearly lay on the ground, covered in blood.
Another familiar figure, in a blue suit, stood off to the side talking to the man who was sitting, “Boss, he …”
He stopped talking at Allyce’s sudden intrusion.
The man he had just referred to as “boss”, sitting in a chair with a cigarette in his hand, was the one Allyce knew best. Severo Betances
